Hadith 275
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، وَالْخِمَارِ " ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ ، حَدَّثَنِي بِلَالٌ .
It is narrated from Bilal (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wiped over the socks and turban, and in the hadith transmitted by 'Isa bin Yaunus the words are: " Bilal (RA) narrated it to me."
Hadith 406
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : لَقِيَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا أُهْدِي لَكَ هَدِيَّةً ، خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْنَا : قَدْ عَرَفْنَا كَيْفَ نُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ ، فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ ، قَالَ : قُولُوا : " اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ " .
Ibn Abi Laila reported: Ka'b bin 'Ujra met me and said: Should I not offer you a present (and added): The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us and we said: We have learnt how to invoke peace upon you; (kindly tell us) how we should bless you. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Say:" O Allah: bless Muhammad and his family as Thou didst bless the family of Ibrahim. Verily Thou art Praiseworthy and Glorious, O Allah."
Hadith 596
وحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ عُتَيْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مُعَقِّبَاتٌ ، لَا يَخِيبُ قَائِلُهُنَّ ، أَوْ فَاعِلُهُنَّ ، دُبُرَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ مَكْتُوبَةٍ ، ثَلَاثٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَسْبِيحَةً ، وَثَلَاثٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَحْمِيدَةً ، وَأَرْبَعٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَكْبِيرَةً " .
Ka'b bin 'Ujra reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There are certain ejaculations, the repeaters of which or the performers of which after every prescribed prayer will never be caused disappointment: "Glory be to Allah" thirty-three times. "Praise be to Allah" thirty-three times, and "Allah is most Great" thirty-four times.
Hadith 596
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمْزَةُ الزَّيَّاتُ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مُعَقِّبَاتٌ ، لَا يَخِيبُ قَائِلُهُنَّ أَوْ فَاعِلُهُنَّ ، ثَلَاثٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَسْبِيحَةً وَثَلَاثٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَحْمِيدَةً ، وَأَرْبَعٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ تَكْبِيرَةً ، فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ " .

Hadith 864
وحَدَّثَنَا وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنُ أم الحكم يخطب قاعدا ، فقال : " انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا الْخَبِيثِ يَخْطُبُ قَاعِدًا ، وَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى : وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا سورة الجمعة آية 11 " .
Ka'b bin 'Ujra reported that he entered the mosque and saw Abdul Rahman bin Umm Hakam delivering the sermon in a sitting posture. Upon this he said: Look at this wretched person; he delivers the sermon while sitting, whereas Allah said:" And when they see merchandise or sport, they break away to it and leave thee standing."
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : أَتَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، وَأَنَا أُوقِدُ تَحْتَ ، قَالَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ : قِدْرٍ لِي ، وقَالَ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ : بُرْمَةٍ لِي وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَنَاثَرُ عَلَى وَجْهِي ، فَقَالَ : " أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَاحْلِقْ وَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينَ أَوِ انْسُكْ نَسِيكَةً " ، قَالَ أَيُّوبُ : فَلَا أَدْرِي بِأَيِّ ذَلِكَ بَدَأَ ،
Ka'b bin 'Ujra (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to me on the occasion of Hudaibiya and I was kindling fire under my cooking pot and lice were creeping on my face. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Do the vermins harm your head? I said: Yes. He said: Get your head shaved and (in lieu of it) observe fasts for three days or feed six needy persons, or offer sacrifice (of an animal). Ayyub said: I do not know with what (type of expiation) did he commence (the statement).
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : فِيَّ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ سورة البقرة آية 196 ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : " ادْنُهْ فَدَنَوْتُ " ، فَقَالَ : " ادْنُهْ فَدَنَوْتُ " ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ ؟ " ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ : وَأَظُنُّهُ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَأَمَرَنِي بِفِدْيَةٍ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ مَا تَيَسَّرَ " .
Kalb bin Ujra (RA) reported: It was I for whom this verse was revealed (to the Holy Prophet): "Whoever among you is sick or has an ailment of the head, he (may effect) a compensation by fasting or alms or a sacrifice" He said: I came to him (the Holy Prophet) and he said: Come near. So I went near. He (again) said: Come near. So I went near. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Do the vermins trouble you? Ibn Aun (one of the narrators) said: I think he (Ka'b bin Ujra) replied in the affirmative. He (the Holy Prophet) then commanded to do compensation by fasting or by giving sadaqa (feeding six needy persons) or by sacrifice (of a animal) that is available.
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا سَيْفٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَرَأْسُهُ يَتَهَافَتُ قَمْلًا ، فَقَالَ : " أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ ؟ ، قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَاحْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ ، قَالَ : فَفِيَّ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ سورة البقرة آية 196 ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ تَصَدَّقْ بِفَرَقٍ بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينَ أَوِ انْسُكْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ " .
Ka'b bin 'Ujra (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood near him and lice were falling from his head. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Do these vermins trouble you? I said: Yes. Thereupon he said: Then shave your head; and it was in connection with me that this verse was revealed: "Whoever among you is sick or has an ailment of the head, he (may effect) a compensation by fasting or alms or a sacrifice". He (the Holy Prophet, therefore) said to me: Observe fast for three days or give a quantity of alms enough to feed six needy persons or offer sacrifice (of an animal) that is available.
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، وَأَيُّوبَ ، وَحُمَيْدٍ وَعَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ مَكَّةَ ، وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ وَهُوَ يُوقِدُ تَحْتَ قِدْرٍ ، وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَهَافَتُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ هَذِهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَاحْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ ، وَأَطْعِمْ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينَ وَالْفَرَقُ ثَلَاثَةُ آصُعٍ أَوْ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، أَوِ انْسُكْ نَسِيكَةً " ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ : أَوِ اذْبَحْ شَاةً .
Ka'b bin 'Ujra (RA) reported that the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) happened to pass by him at Hudaibiya before entering Makkah in a state of Ihram and he (Ka'b) was kindling fire under the cooking pot and virmins were creeping on his (Kab's) face. Thereupon (the Holy Prophet) said: Do these vermins trouble you? He (Ka'b) said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Shave your head and give some quantity of food enough to feed six needy persons (faraq is equal to three sa's), or observe fast for three days or offer sacrifice of a sacrificial animal. Ibn Najih (one of the narrators) said: "Or sacrifice a goat."
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَرَّ بِهِ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ : " آذَاكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : احْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ ، ثُمَّ اذْبَحْ شَاةً نُسُكًا ، أَوْ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، أَوْ أَطْعِمْ ثَلَاثَةَ آصُعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ عَلَى سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينَ " .
Ka'b bin Ujra (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) happened to pass by him during the period of Hudaibiya. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said to him (Ka'b bin Ujra): Do these vermins trouble your head? He said: Yes. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Shave your head. Then sacrifice a goat or observe fasts for three days or give three sits of dates to feed six needy persons.
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ ، قَالَ : قَعَدْتُ إِلَى كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ سورة البقرة آية 196 ، فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : نَزَلَتْ فِيَّ ، كَانَ بِي أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِي ، فَحُمِلْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَنَاثَرُ عَلَى وَجْهِي ، فَقَالَ : " مَا كُنْتُ أُرَى أَنَّ الْجَهْدَ بَلَغَ مِنْكَ مَا أَرَى ، أَتَجِدُ شَاةً ؟ ، فَقُلْتُ : لَا ، فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ سورة البقرة آية 196 ، قَالَ : صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ، أَوْ إِطْعَامُ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينَ ، نِصْفَ صَاعٍ طَعَامًا لِكُلِّ مِسْكِينٍ " ، قَالَ : فَنَزَلَتْ فِيَّ خَاصَّةً وَهِيَ لَكُمْ عَامَّةً .
Abdullah bin Ma'qil said: I sat with Ka'b (RA) and he was in the mosque. I asked him about this verse: "Compensation in (the form of) fasting, or Sadaqa or sacrifice." Ka'b (RA) said: It was revealed in my case. There was some trouble in my head. I was taken to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and lice were creeping upon my face. Thereupon he said: I did not think that your trouble had become so unbearable as I see. Would you be able to afford (the sacrificing) of a goat? I (Ka'b) said: Then this verse was revealed: "Compensation (in the form of) fasting or alms or a sacrifice." He (the Holy Prophet) said: (It implies) fasting for three days, or feeding six needy persons, half sa' of food for every needy person. This verse was revealed particularly for me and (now) its application is general for all of you.
Hadith 1201
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّاءَ بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُحْرِمًا ، فَقَمِلَ رَأْسُهُ وَلِحْيَتُهُ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ ، فَدَعَا الْحَلَّاقَ فَحَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ : " هَلْ عِنْدَكَ نُسُكٌ ؟ " ، قَالَ : مَا أَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ ، " فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، أَوْ يُطْعِمَ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينَ ، لِكُلِّ مِسْكِينَيْنِ صَاعٌ " ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهِ خَاصَّةً فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ سورة البقرة آية 196 ثُمَّ كَانَتْ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ عَامَّةً .
Ka'b bin Ujra (RA) reported that he went out with the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) in the state of Ihram, and his (Ka'b's) head and beard were infested with lice. This was conveyed to the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) . He sent for him (Ka'b) and called a barber (who) shaved his head. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Is there any sacrificial animal with you? He (Kalb) said: I cannot afford it. He then commanded him to observe fasts for three days or feed six needy persons, one sa' for every two needy persons. And Allah the Exalted and Majestic revealed this (verse) particular with regard to him: "So whosoever among you is sick and has an ailment of the head.." ; then (its application) became general for the Muslims.
