Hadith 1580
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الْفَيْضِ، قَال : سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ بَيْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَبَيْنَ أَهْلِ الرُّومِ عَهْدٌ ، وَكَانَ يَسِيرُ فِي بِلَادِهِمْ حَتَّى إِذَا انْقَضَى الْعَهْدُ أَغَارَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ عَلَى دَابَّةٍ أَوْ عَلَى فَرَسٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، وَفَاءٌ لَا غَدْرٌ ، وَإِذَا هُوَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَسَةَ، فَسَأَلَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ كَانَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ قَوْمٍ عَهْدٌ ، فَلَا يَحُلَّنَّ عَهْدًا وَلَا يَشُدَّنَّهُ ، حَتَّى يَمْضِيَ أَمَدُهُ أَوْ يَنْبِذَ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ " ، قَالَ : فَرَجَعَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بِالنَّاسِ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Salim bin Amir reports that there was a treaty for a certain period between Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Romans. Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to go towards their cities so that when the term of the treaty expired, he could attack them. Suddenly, he saw a man on his mount or horse saying: "Allahu Akbar! You should fulfill the covenant on your part, not break it." That man was Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him). So Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him about this, and he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'If there is a treaty between a man and a people, he should not break the treaty or make a new one until its term has expired or he returns it to them on equal terms.'" Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) then returned with the people. © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Hadith 1635
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، عَنْ بَقِيَّةَ، عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ شَابَ شَيْبَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ ، وَحَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ابْنُ يَزِيدَ الْحِمْصِيُّ .
It is narrated from ‘Amr bin ‘Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever grows old in the way of Allah, there will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.” © Imam Tirmidhi says: This hadith is hasan sahih ghareeb.
Hadith 1638
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ السُّلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ رَمَى بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، فَهُوَ لَهُ عَدْلُ مُحَرَّرٍ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَأَبُو نَجِيحٍ هُوَ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْسَةَ السُّلَمِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْأَزْرَقِ هُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ .
Abu Najeeh Amr bin Abasah Salami (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever shoots one arrow in the way of Allah, it is (in reward) equal to freeing one slave." © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Hadith 3526
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ طَاهِرًا يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ حَتَّى يُدْرِكَهُ النُّعَاسُ ، لَمْ يَنْقَلِبْ سَاعَةً مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا أَيْضًا عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي ظَبْيَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْسَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
´Abu Umamah Al-Bahili said:` “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: “Whoever goes to his bed while in a state of purity and remembering Allah, until slumber overtakes him, he shall not get up at any hour of the night and ask Allah for something from the good of the world and the Hereafter except that Allah shall grant it to him.’”
Hadith 3579
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، قَال : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَسَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ الرَّبُّ مِنَ الْعَبْدِ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرِ ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِمَّنْ يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ فِي تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ فَكُنْ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
´Abu Umamah [may Allah be pleased with him] said:` `Amr bin `Abasah reported to me that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: “The closest that the Lord is to a worshipper is during the last part of the night, so if you are able to be of those who remember Allah in that hour, then do so.”
