Hadith 1298
وَحَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ الْحُصَيْنِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهَا تَقُولُ : حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ حِينَ رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ ، وَانْصَرَفَ وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، وَمَعَهُ بِلَالٌ ، وَأُسَامَةُ ، أَحَدُهُمَا يَقُودُ بِهِ رَاحِلَتَهُ ، وَالْآخَرُ رَافِعٌ ثَوْبَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الشَّمْسِ ، قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْلًا كَثِيرًا ، ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " إِنْ أُمِّرَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَبْدٌ مُجَدَّعٌ حَسِبْتُهَا قَالَتْ : أَسْوَدُ يَقُودُكُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ، فَاسْمَعُوا لَهُ وَأَطِيعُوا " .
Umm al-Husain (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I performed Hajj along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage and saw him when he flung pebbles at Jamrat al-'Aqabahh and returned while he was riding the camel, and Bilal (RA) and Usama were with him. One of them was leading his camel, while the other was raising his cloth over the head of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to protect him from the sun. She (further) said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said so many things, and I heard him saying: If a slave having some limb of his missing and having dark complexion is appointed to govern you according to the Book of Allah the Exalted, listen to him and obey him.
Hadith 1298
وَحَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْحُصَيْنِ جَدَّتِهِ ، قَالَتْ : " حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ ، فَرَأَيْتُ أُسَامَةَ ، وَبِلَالًا ، وَأَحَدُهُمَا آخِذٌ بِخِطَامِ نَاقَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَالْآخَرُ رَافِعٌ ثَوْبَهُ يَسْتُرُهُ مِنَ الْحَرِّ ، حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ " ، قَالَ مُسْلِم : وَاسْمُ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ خَالِدُ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، وَهُوَ خَالُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، رَوَى عَنْهُ ، وَكِيعٌ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ الْأَعْوَرُ .
Umm al-Husain (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I performed Hajj along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage and saw Usama and Bilal (RA) (too), one of whom had caught hold of the lose string of the she-camel of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) while the other one was raising his cloth (over his head) protecting him from the heat, till he flung pebbles at Jamrat al-'Aqabahh.
Hadith 1303
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ ، دَعَا لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ ثَلَاثًا وَلِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ مَرَّةً " ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ وَكِيعٌ : فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ .
Yahya bin al-Husain reported on the authority of his grandfather that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) invoked blessing on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage three times for those who got their heads shaved and once for those who got their hair clipped. In the narration transmitted by Waki' there is no mention of the Farewell Pilgrimage
Hadith 1838
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَي بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَدَّتِي تُحَدِّثُ : أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَهُوَ ، يَقُولُ : " وَلَوِ اسْتُعْمِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَبْدٌ يَقُودُكُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، فَاسْمَعُوا لَهُ وَأَطِيعُوا " ،
It has been narrated on the authority of Yahya bin Husain who learnt the tradition from his grandmother. She said that she heard the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) delivering his sermon on the occasion of the Last Pilgrimage. He was saying: If a slave is appointed over you and he conducts your affairs according to the Book of Allah, you should listen to him and obeey (his orders).
Hadith 1838
وحَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَي بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ الْحُصَيْنِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهَا تَقُولُ : " حَجَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ ، قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْلًا كَثِيرًا ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ ، يَقُولُ : إِنْ أُمِّرَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَبْدٌ مُجَدَّعٌ حَسِبْتُهَا ، قَالَتْ : أَسْوَدُ يَقُودُكُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَاسْمَعُوا لَهُ وَأَطِيعُوا " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Yahya bin Husain who learnt the tradition from his grandmother. Umm Husain. He said': I heard her say: I performed Hajjat-ul-Wada' in the company of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . He said a lot of things (on this occasion). Then I heard him say: If a maimed slave is appointed a commander over you the narrator says: I think she said:" a black slave" who leads you according to the Book of Allah, then listen to him and obey him.
