Abu Al-Ajfa’ Salmi says that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Listen! Do not increase the dowries of women excessively. If it were something honorable in this world or a matter of piety with Allah, then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would have been the most deserving of it. I do not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married any of his wives or gave any of his daughters in marriage with a dowry more than twelve uqiyah. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is Hasan Sahih,
2- The name of Abu Al-Ajfa’ Salmi is Haram,
3- According to the scholars, one uqiyah is forty dirhams, thus twelve uqiyah is four hundred and eighty dirhams.

Malik bin Aws bin Hadthan (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came (to the market) saying: Who will exchange dirhams (for dinars, etc.)? So Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, and he was with Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): Show us your gold, and when our servant comes, come to us and we will give you silver in exchange for it. (Upon hearing this) Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! This can never be. Either give him the silver right now or return his gold, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Exchanging gold for silver is usury, except when it is hand to hand; exchanging wheat for wheat is usury, except when it is hand to hand; exchanging barley for barley is usury, except when it is hand to hand; and exchanging dates for dates is usury, except when it is hand to hand." © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) to ask for her share of the inheritance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Both of them said: We heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "I will have no heir." Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: By Allah! I will never speak to you both. Thus, she passed away without having spoken to them. The narrator, Ali bin Isa, says: The meaning of «لا أكلمكما» is that I will never speak to you both regarding this inheritance; you both are truthful. Then Ali and Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) came while disputing. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to them: I ask you by Allah, by whose command the heavens and the earth are established, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “We (i.e., the Prophets) have no heirs; whatever we leave behind is charity”? The people said: Yes! Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am the successor of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then you came to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), seeking your share from the inheritance of your nephew, and this one (came) seeking the inheritance of her father for his wife. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “We (i.e., the Prophets) have no heirs; whatever we leave behind is charity.” (Umar [may Allah be pleased with him] said) Allah knows best, Abu Bakr was truthful, righteous, good, and a follower of the truth. © Imam Tirmidhi says:

He is the one whom people will look up to on the Day of Resurrection, and (the narrator Fadala bin Ubaid, in order to describe this state, said) he raised his head until his cap fell off.” The narrator Abu Yazid Khawlani says: I do not know whether Fadala meant the cap of ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) or that of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (the Prophet) said: “The second is the believer with good faith who faces the enemy, but due to his cowardice, his skin is wounded by the thorns of «طلح» (a large thorny tree), and an arrow comes from behind (from an unknown source) and strikes him and kills him. He is of the second rank. The third is the believer who does both good and bad deeds. When he faces the enemy, he fulfills the promise made to Allah (i.e., he fights bravely) until he is martyred. He is of the third rank. The fourth is the believer who wrongs himself (i.e., due to excessive sins, but he fights bravely) until he is martyred. He is of the fourth rank.” © Imam Tirmidhi says:
This hadith is gharib; we know it only from the narration of ‘Ata bin Dinar. I heard Muhammad bin Isma’il Bukhari say: This hadith was narrated by Sa’id bin Abi Ayyub from ‘Ata bin Dinar, and he narrated it from the elders of Khawlan, and in it he did not mention Abu Yazid. And ‘Ata bin Dinar said: (that in this hadith) there is no harm.

'Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the wealth of the tribe of Banu Nadir, who were Jews, was among those properties which Allah, the Exalted, granted to His Messenger (peace be upon him) as «فے» 1. The Muslims had neither made their horses gallop for it nor their camels. This entire property was purely for Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would set aside from it a year’s provision for his family, and then whatever remained, he would spend on horses and weapons in preparation for jihad. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
