Hadith 65
حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ أَبُو الصَّلْتِ الْهَرَوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُوسَى الرِّضَا ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْإِيمَانُ مَعْرِفَةٌ بِالْقَلْبِ ، وَقَوْلٌ بِاللِّسَانِ ، وَعَمَلٌ بِالْأَرْكَانِ " . قَالَ أَبُو الصَّلْتِ : لَوْ قُرِئَ هَذَا الْإِسْنَادُ عَلَى مَجْنُونٍ لَبَرَأَ .
´It was narrated that 'Ali bin Abu Talib said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Faith is knowledge in the heart, words on the tongue and action with the physical faculties. (limbs of the body).'" (Maudu')
Hadith 491
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَتِفِ شَاةٍ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ ، وَصَلَّى ، وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ مَاءً " .
´It was narrated that Umm Salamah said:` "Some meat from the shoulder of a sheep was brought to the Messenger of Allah and he ate some of it, then he performed prayer without touching water (for ablution)."
Hadith 657
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْبَلْخِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : انْكَسَرَتْ إِحْدَى زَنْدَيَّ ، فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ " فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَمْسَحَ عَلَى الْجَبَائِرِ " .
´It was narrated that 'Ali bin Abu Talib said:` "I broke one of my forearms and I asked the Prophet about that. He told me to wipe over the bandages." (Maudu') Another chain with similar meaning.
Hadith 1779
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ : عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَزُورُهُ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ، فَتَحَدَّثَتْ عِنْدَهُ سَاعَةً مِنَ الْعِشَاءِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَتْ تَنْقَلِبُ ، فَقَامَ مَعَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْلِبُهَا ، حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتْ بَابَ الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي كَانَ عِنْدَ مَسْكَنِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَمَرَّ بِهِمَا رَجُلَانِ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَسَلَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ نَفَذَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا إِنَّهَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ " ، قَالَا : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَبُرَ عَلَيْهِمَا ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنِ ابْنِ آدَمَ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ ، وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَيْئًا " .
´It was narrated from Safiyyah bint Huyai, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), that she came to visit the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he was in I’tikaf during the last ten days of the month of Ramadan. She spoke with him for a while during the evening, then she stood up to go back. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) got up to take her home. When she reached the door of the mosque that was by the home of Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), two men from among the Ansar passed by them. They greeted the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with peace, then went away. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Take it easy, she is Safiyyah bint Huyai.” They said: “Glorious is Allah, O Messenger of Allah!” And they were very upset by that (i.e., that he thought they may have some doubts). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The Satan flows through the son of Adam like blood, and I was afraid that he might cast some doubt into your hearts.”
Hadith 1999
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ، أَنَّ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ خَطَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ وَعِنْدَهُ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِذَلِكَ فَاطِمَةُ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ ، أَنَّكَ لَا تَغْضَبُ لِبَنَاتِكَ ، وَهَذَا عَلِيٌّ نَاكِحًا ابْنَةَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ ، قَالَ الْمِسْوَرُ : فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ حِينَ تَشَهَّدَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَمَّا بَعْدُ ، فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَنْكَحْتُ أَبَا الْعَاصِ بْنَ الرَّبِيعِ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي فَصَدَقَنِي ، وَإِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ بَضْعَةٌ مِنِّي وَأَنَا أَكْرَهُ أَنْ تَفْتِنُوهَا ، وَإِنَّهَا وَاللَّهِ لَا تَجْتَمِعُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ، وَبِنْتُ عَدُوِّ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ أَبَدًا ، قَالَ : فَنَزَلَ عَلِيٌّ عَنِ الْخِطْبَةِ " .
´'Ali bin Husain said that Miswar bin Makhramah told him that:` 'Ali bin Abu Talib proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahl, when he was married to Fatimah the daughter of the Prophet. When Fatimah heard of that she went to the Prophet, and said: "Your people are saying that you do not feel angry for your daughters. This 'Ali is going to marry the daughter of Abu Jahl." Miswar said: "The Prophet stood up, and I heard him when he bore witness (i.e., said the Shahadah), then he said: 'I married my daughter (Zainab) to Abul-As bin Rabi', and he spoke to me and was speaking the truth. Fatimah bint Muhammad is a part of me, and I hate to see her faced with troubles. By Allah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah will never be joined together in marriage to one man." He said: So, 'Ali abandoned the marriage proposal.
Hadith 2729
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَرِثُ الْمُسْلِمُ الْكَافِرَ وَلَا الْكَافِرُ الْمُسْلِمَ " .
´It was narrated from Usamah bin Zaid, who attributed it to the Prophet (ﷺ):` “The Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever and the disbeliever does not inherit from a Muslim.”
Hadith 2730
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ عُثْمَانَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَتَنْزِلُ فِي دَارِكَ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ : " وَهَلْ تَرَكَ لَنَا عَقِيلٌ مِنْ رِبَاعٍ أَوْ دُورٍ " ، وَكَانَ عَقِيلٌ وَرِثَ أَبَا طَالِبٍ هُوَ وَطَالِبٌ وَلَمْ يَرِثْ جَعْفَرٌ وَلَا عَلِيٌّ شَيْئًا لِأَنَّهُمَا كَانَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ ، وَكَانَ عَقِيلٌ وَطَالِبٌ كَافِرَيْنِ ، فَكَانَ عُمَرُ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ : لَا يَرِثُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْكَافِرَ ، قَالَ أُسَامَةُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَرِثُ الْمُسْلِمُ الْكَافِرَ ، وَلَا الْكَافِرُ الْمُسْلِمَ " .
´It was narrated from Usamah bin Zaid that he said:` “O Messenger of Allah, will you stay in your house in Makkah?” He said: “Has ‘Aqeel left us any houses?” 'Aqeel had inherited Abu Talib along with Talib. Neither Ja'far nor 'Ali inherited anything because they had been Muslims, and 'Aqeel and Talib had been disbelievers. So on account of that, Omar would say the believer does not inherit from the disbeliever. And Usamah said: the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said "The Muslim does not inherit from the disbeliever nor the disbeliever from the Muslim."
Hadith 2942
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيْنَ تَنْزِلُ غَدًا ؟ وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّتِهِ ، قَالَ : " وَهَلْ تَرَكَ لَنَا عَقِيلٌ مَنْزِلًا ؟ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَحْنُ نَازِلُونَ غَدًا بِخَيْفِ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ ، يَعْنِي الْمُحَصَّبَ ، حَيْثُ قَاسَمَتْ قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى الْكُفْرِ " ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ حَالَفَتْ قُرَيْشًا عَلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، أَنْ لَا يُنَاكِحُوهُمْ وَلَا يُبَايِعُوهُمْ ، قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : وَالْخَيْفُ الْوَادِي .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Zaid said:` “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, where will you stay tomorrow?’ That was during his Hajj. He said: ‘Has ‘Aqil left us any house?’ Then he said: ‘Tomorrow we will stay in the valley of Banu Kinanah, Muhassab where the Quraish swore an oath of disbelief.’” That was where the Banu Kinana had sworn an oath with the Quriash against Banu Hashim, that they would not intermarry with them or engage in trade with them. Ma’mar said: “Zuhri said: Khaif means a valley.’”
Hadith 3010
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : وَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " هَذَا الْمَوْقِفُ ، وَعَرَفَةُ كُلُّهَا مَوْقِفٌ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ali said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stopped at ‘Arafat and said: ‘This is the place of standing, and all of ‘Arafat is a place of standing.’”
Hadith 3554
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ , حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ , عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ , عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ : " مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسُبُّ أَحَدًا , وَلَا يُطْوَى لَهُ ثَوْبٌ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “I never saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) insulting anyone, and no garment was ever folded up for him.”*
