Hadith Referenceصحيح مسلم / كتاب المساجد ومواضع الصلاة / 578
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah, Muhammad bin Musanna, and Muhammad bin Bashar said: Muhammad bin Ja’far narrated to us, and the father of Muhammad bin Ja’far and ‘Ubaydullah, Mu’adh, narrated from Shu’bah, who narrated from ‘Ata bin Abi Maymunah, who narrated from Abu Rafi’, who narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the name of Hazrat Zainab (daughter of Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her) was Barrah. It was said that (by mentioning her name) she declares her own piety, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) named her Zainab. The wording of the hadith is from all except Ibn Bashar. Ibn Abi Shaybah said: Muhammad bin Ja’far narrated to us from Shu’bah.
