Hadith 75
وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " فِي الأَنْصَارِ ، لَا يُحِبُّهُمْ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَلَا يُبْغِضُهُمْ إِلَّا مُنَافِقٌ ، مَنْ أَحَبَّهُمْ أَحَبَّهُ اللَّهُ ، وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَهُمْ أَبْغَضَهُ اللَّهُ " ، قَالَ شُعْبَة : قُلْتُ لِعَدِيٍّ : سَمِعْتَهُ مِنَ الْبَرَاءِ ، قَالَ : إِيَّايَ حَدَّثَ .
Al-Bara reported it from the Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace and blessing be upon him) that he observed with regard to the Ansar, None but the believer loves them, none but the hypocrite hates them. He who loved them loved Allah and he who hated them hated Allah. I (the narrator) said: Did you hear this hadith from al-Bara'? He said: To me, he narrated it.
Hadith 78
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ . ح حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ زِرٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : وَالَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ وَبَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ ، إِنَّهُ لَعَهْدُ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِلَيَّ أَنْ " لَا يُحِبَّنِي إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ ، وَلَا يُبْغِضَنِي إِلَّا مُنَافِق " .
Zirr reported: 'Ali observed: By Him Who split up the seed and created something living, the Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a promise that no one but a believer would love me, and none but a hypocrite would nurse grudge against me.
Hadith 464
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الآخِرَةَ ، فَقَرَأَ : فِي إِحْدَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ " .
'Adi reported: I heard al-Bara' narrating it from the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) that while in a journey he said the night prayer and recited in one of the two rak'ahs: "By the Fig and the Olive" (Su'rah xcv.).
Hadith 464
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ ، فَقَرَأَ بِ التِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ " .
Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA) reported that he said prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he recited: "By the Fig and the Olive."
Hadith 464
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ فِي الْعِشَاءِ بِ : التِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ ، فَمَا سَمِعْتُ أَحَدًا أَحْسَنَ صَوْتًا مِنْهُ " .
Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA) reported: I heard the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) reciting in the night prayer: "By the Fig and the Olive," and I have never heard anyone with a sweeter voice than he.
Hadith 666
حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ الأَشْجَعِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَطَهَّرَ فِي بَيْتِهِ ، ثُمَّ مَشَى إِلَى بَيْتٍ مِنْ بُيُوتِ اللَّهِ لِيَقْضِيَ فَرِيضَةً مِنْ فَرَائِضِ اللَّهِ ، كَانَتْ خَطْوَتَاهُ إِحْدَاهُمَا تَحُطُّ خَطِيئَةً ، وَالأُخْرَى تَرْفَعُ دَرَجَةً " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace be' upon him) said: He who purified himself in his house, and then he walked to one of the houses of Allah for the sake of performing a Fard (obligatory act) out of the Fara'id (obligatory acts) of Allah, both his steps (would be significant) as one of them would obliterate his sin and the second one would raise his status.
Hadith 884
وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَرَجَ يَوْمَ أَضْحَى أَوْ فِطْرٍ ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَمْ يُصَلِّ قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا ، ثُمَّ أَتَى النِّسَاءَ وَمَعَهُ بِلَالٌ فَأَمَرَهُنَّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ ، فَجَعَلَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ تُلْقِي خُرْصَهَا وَتُلْقِي سِخَابَهَا " .
Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out on the day of Adha or Fitr and observed two rak'ahs, and did not observe prayer (at that place) before and after that. He then came to the women along with Bilal (RA) and commanded them to give alms and the women began to give their rings and necklaces.
Hadith 1002
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْبَدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ إِذَا أَنْفَقَ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ نَفَقَةً وَهُوَ يَحْتَسِبُهَا كَانَتْ لَهُ صَدَقَةً " ،
Abu Mas'ud reported Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) as saying: When a Muslim spends on his family seeking reward for it from Allah, it counts for him as sadaqa.
Hadith 1015
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ طَيِّبٌ لَا يَقْبَلُ إِلَّا طَيِّبًا ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِمَا أَمَرَ بِهِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ، فَقَالَ : يَأَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا إِنِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ سورة المؤمنون آية 51 ، وَقَالَ : يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ سورة البقرة آية 172 ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الرَّجُلَ يُطِيلُ السَّفَرَ أَشْعَثَ أَغْبَرَ ، يَمُدُّ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ ، وَمَطْعَمُهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَشْرَبُهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَلْبَسُهُ حَرَامٌ وَغُذِيَ بِالْحَرَامِ فَأَنَّى يُسْتَجَابُ لِذَلِكَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: O people, Allah is Good and He therefore, accepts only that which is good. And Allah commanded the believers as He commanded the Messengers by saying: "O Messengers, eat of the good things, and do good deeds; verily I am aware of what you do" (xxiii. 51). And He said: ' O those who believe, eat of the good things that We gave you" (ii. 172) He then made a mention of a person who travels widely, his hair dishevelled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord,O Lord," whereas his diet is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful. How can then his supplication be accepted?
Hadith 1020
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ نَهَى فَذَكَرَ خِصَالًا ، وَقَالَ : " مَنْ مَنَحَ مَنِيحَةً ، غَدَتْ بِصَدَقَةٍ ، وَرَاحَتْ بِصَدَقَةٍ صَبُوحِهَا وَغَبُوقِهَا " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) forbade (to do certain things) and then he made a mention of certain habits and said: He who gives a she-camel as a gift, for him is the reward (of the gift) both morning and evening, a reward for drinking milk in the morning and a reward for drinking milk in the evening.
Hadith 1287
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الْخَطْمِيَّ ، حَدَّثَهُ : أَنَّ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ ، أَخْبَرَهُ : أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ الْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ " ،
Abdullah bin Yazid al-Khatmi reported on the authority of Abu Ayyub (RA) that he prayed the sunset and 'Isha' prayers (together) at Muzdalifa in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage.
Hadith 1384
وحدثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ وَهُوَ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حدثنا أَبِي ، حدثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهَا طَيْبَةُ يَعْنِي الْمَدِينَةَ ، وَإِنَّهَا تَنْفِي الْخَبَثَ ، كَمَا تَنْفِي النَّارُ خَبَثَ الْفِضَّةِ " .
Zaid bin Thabit reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: It is Taiba, thereby meaning Madinah. It drives away impurity just as fire removes the impurity of silver.
Hadith 1515
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَهَى عَنِ التَّلَقِّي لِلرُّكْبَانِ ، وَأَنْ يَبِيعَ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ ، وَأَنْ تَسْأَلَ الْمَرْأَةُ طَلَاقَ أُخْتِهَا ، وَعَنِ النَّجْشِ وَالتَّصْرِيَةِ ، وَأَنْ يَسْتَامَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade the (people) meeting the caravan (for entering into business transaction with them), and the selling of goods by a townsman on behalf of a man of the desert, and seeking by a woman the divorce of her sister (from her husband), and outbidding (against one another), and tying up the udders (of animals), and buying of (things) in opposition to one's brother.
Hadith 1619
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ : أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا ، فَلِلْوَرَثَةِ وَمَنْ تَرَكَ كَلًّا ، فَإِلَيْنَا " ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: He who leaves property, that is for the inheritors; and he who leaves behind destitute children, then it is my responsibility (to look after them).
Hadith 1938
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ ، وَعَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، يقولان : " أَصَبْنَا حُمُرًا فَطَبَخْنَاهَا ، فَنَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اكْفَئُوا الْقُدُورَ " .
'Adi (he was the son of Thabit) said: I heard al-Bara' and 'Abdullah bin Abu Aufa say: We found domestic asses and we cooked them. Then the announcer of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) made an announcement that the earthen pots should be turned over.
Hadith 1956
وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَتَّخِذُوا شَيْئًا فِيهِ الرُّوحُ غَرَضًا " .
Ibn 'Abbas reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said this: Do not make anything having life as a target.
Hadith 2422
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ عَلَى عَاتِقِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُ فَأَحِبَّهُ " .
Al-Bara' bin Azib (RA) reported: I saw Hasan bin 'Ali upon the shoulders of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and he was saying: O Allah, I love him, and love him Thou.
Hadith 2422
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ نَافِعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاضِعًا الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُ فَأَحِبَّهُ " .
Al-Bara' b. Azib reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah (صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) with Al-Hasan b. 'Ali placed upon his shoulders and he was saying: O Allah, I love him, and love him Thou.
Hadith 2486
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ لِحَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ : " اهْجُهُمْ أَوْ هَاجِهِمْ وَجِبْرِيلُ مَعَكَ " .
Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA) reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Hassan bin Thabit, write satire (against the non-believers) ; Gabriel (ؑ) is with you.
Hadith 2610
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَ يَحْيَي : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ ابْنُ الْعَلَاءِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ صُرَدٍ ، قَالَ : " اسْتَبَّ رَجُلَانِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَعَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا تَحْمَرُّ عَيْنَاهُ وَتَنْتَفِخُ أَوْدَاجُهُ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الَّذِي يَجِدُ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : وَهَلْ تَرَى بِي مِنْ جُنُونٍ ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ الْعَلَاءِ : فَقَالَ : وَهَلْ تَرَى ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الرَّجُلَ .
Sulaiman bin Surad reported that two persons abused each other in the presence of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and the eyes of one of them became red as embers and the veins of his neck were swollen. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I know of a wording, if he were to utter that, his fit of rage (would be no more and that wording is): I seek refuge with Allah from Satan the accursed. The person said: Do you find any madness in me? Ibn al-'Ala' said: Do you see it? And he made no mention of the person.
Hadith 2610
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، سَمِعْتُ الْأَعْمَشَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عَدِيَّ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ صُرَدٍ ، قَالَ : اسْتَبَّ رَجُلَانِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَعَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا يَغْضَبُ وَيَحْمَرُّ وَجْهُهُ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ ذَا عَنْهُ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ " ، فَقَامَ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَتَدْرِي مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آنِفًا ؟ قَالَ : إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ ذَا عَنْهُ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ : أَمَجْنُونًا تَرَانِي ؟ .
Sulaiman bin Surad reported that two persons abused each other in the presence of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and one of them fell into a rage and his face became red. Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) saw him and said: I know of a wording; if he were to utter that, he would get out (of the fit of anger) (and the wording is): I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed. Thereupon, a person went to him who had heard that from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and said to him: Do you know what Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said? He (the Holy Prophet) said: I know of a wording; if he were to say that, (the fit) would be no more (and the words are): I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed. And the person said to him: Do you find me mad?
Hadith 2776
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى أُحُدٍ ، فَرَجَعَ نَاسٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ ، فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهِمْ فِرْقَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : نَقْتُلُهُمْ ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : لَا ، فَنَزَلَتْ فَمَا لَكُمْ فِي الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ سورة النساء آية 88 " ،
Zaid bin Thabit reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) set out for Uhud. Some of those persons who were with them came back. The Companions of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) were divided in two groups. One group said: We would kill them, and the other one said: No, this should not be done, and it was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: "Why should you, then, be two parties in relation to hypocrites?" (iv. 88).
Hadith 2891
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : " أَخْبَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ كَائِنٌ إِلَى أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ ، فَمَا مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا قَدْ سَأَلْتُهُ ، إِلَّا أَنِّي لَمْ أَسْأَلْهُ مَا يُخْرِجُ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ " ،
Hudhaifa reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) informed me of what is going to happen before the approach of the Last Hour. And there is nothing that I did not ask him in this connection except this that I did not ask him as to what would turn the people of Madinah out from Madinah.
