Hadith 1567
حَدَّثَنَا أبو عُبَيْدَةَ بن أبي السَّفَرِ وَاسْمُهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّاءَ بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ جِبْرَائِيلَ هَبَطَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : خَيِّرْهُمْ ، يَعْنِي : أَصْحَابَكَ ، فِي أُسَارَى بَدْرٍ ، الْقَتْلَ أَوِ الْفِدَاءَ ، عَلَى أَنْ يُقْتَلَ مِنْهُمْ قَابِلًا مِثْلُهُمْ ، قَالُوا : الْفِدَاءَ ، وَيُقْتَلُ مِنَّا " ، وَفِي الْبَاب ، عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، وَأَنَسٍ ، وَأَبِي بَرْزَةَ ، وَجُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ، وَرَوَى أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ ، وَرَوَى ابْنُ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلًا ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ اسْمُهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ .
Narrated from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Jibreel came to me and said: Give your companions the choice regarding the captives of Badr; if they wish, they may kill them, or if they wish, they may take ransom. In the case of ransom, the same number of men from among them will be killed next year." They said: "We will take ransom, and some of us will be killed." 1. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith, through the narration of Thawri, is Hasan Gharib; we know it only from the narration of Ibn Abi Zaidah,
2- Abu Usamah has narrated a similar hadith with the chain «هشام عن ابن سيرين عن عبيدة عن علي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم»,
3- Ibn Awn has narrated it mursal with the chain «ابن سيرين عن عبيدة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم»,
4- In this chapter, hadiths have also come from Ibn Mas'ud, Anas, Abu Barzah, and Jubair bin Mut'im.

Hadith 2595
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ آخِرَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ خُرُوجًا ، رَجُلٌ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا زَحْفًا فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ قَدْ أَخَذَ النَّاسُ الْمَنَازِلَ ، قَالَ : فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : انْطَلِقْ فَادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ، قَالَ : فَيَذْهَبُ لِيَدْخُلَ فَيَجِدُ النَّاسَ قَدْ أَخَذُوا الْمَنَازِلَ ، فَيَرْجِعُ فَيَقُولُ : يَا رَبِّ قَدْ أَخَذَ النَّاسُ الْمَنَازِلَ ، قَالَ : فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : أَتَذْكُرُ الزَّمَانَ الَّذِي كُنْتَ فِيهِ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : نَعَمْ ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : تَمَنَّ ، قَالَ : فَيَتَمَنَّى ، فَيُقَالُ لَهُ : فَإِنَّ لَكَ مَا تَمَنَّيْتَ وَعَشْرَةَ أَضْعَافِ الدُّنْيَا ، قَالَ : فَيَقُولُ : أَتَسْخَرُ بِي وَأَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ ؟ قَالَ : فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَحِكَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ " , قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Ibn Masud narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:` "I know the last of the people of the Fire to depart from it. A man will exit it crawling, and he will say: 'O Lord! The people have taken all the places.'" He said: "So it will be said to him: 'Go to Paradise to enter Paradise.' So he will go to enter, but he will see that the people have taken all the places. He will return and say: 'O Lord! The people have taken all of the places.' So it will be said to him: 'Do you remember the times you used to live in?' And he will say: 'Yes.' So it will be said to him: 'Wish, He will wish for something, and it will be said to him: 'For you is whatever you wished for, and ten times the world.' He will say: 'Do you mock me while you are the King?'" He (Ibn Masud) said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) laugh until his molars were visible."
Hadith 2984
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ بِنْ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ يَوْمَ الْأَحْزَابِ : " اللَّهُمَّ امْلَأْ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا كَمَا شَغَلُونَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، قَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، وَأَبُو حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجُ اسْمُهُ مُسْلِمٌ .
´Narrated:` 'Ubaidah As-Salmani that 'Ali narrated to him that on the Day of Al-Ahzab the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "O Allah! Fill their graves and their homes with fire as they have kept us busy from Salat Al-Wusta (the middle prayer) until the sun set."
Hadith 3025
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَيْكَ أُنْزِلَ ؟ قَالَ : إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِي ، فَقَرَأْتُ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاءِ شَهِيدًا سورة النساء آية 41 قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُ عَيْنَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَهْمِلَانِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ .
´Narrated Ibrahim:` from 'Abidah that 'Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: 'Recite for me.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Shall I recite for you while it is to you whom it was revealed?' He said: 'I love to hear it from other than me.'" So I recited Surat An-Nisa until I reached: "...And We bring you (Muhammad) as a witness against these people? (4:41)" He said: "So I saw the eyes of the Prophet (ﷺ) overflowing with tears."
Hadith 3238
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ : جَاءَ يَهُودِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، وَالْأَرَضِينَ عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، وَالْجِبَالَ عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، وَالْخَلَائِقَ عَلَى إِصْبَعٍ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : أَنَا الْمَلِكُ ، قَالَ : فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ ، قَالَ : " وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ سورة الأنعام آية 91 " قَالَ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated 'Abdullah:` "A Jew came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: 'O Muhammad! Allah will seize the heavens upon a finger, the mountains upon a finger, the earths upon a finger, and the rest of creation upon a finger. Then He says: 'I am the King.'" He said: 'So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) laughed until his molars were visible. He said: "They made not a just estimate of Allah such as is due to Him (39:67)."
Hadith 3239
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ : فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَعَجُّبًا وَتَصْدِيقًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated 'Abdullah:` "So the Prophet (ﷺ) laughed in amazement and approval."
Hadith 3408
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْخَطَّابِ زِيَادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ السَّمَّانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : شَكَتْ إِلَيَّ فَاطِمَةُ مَجَلَ يَدَيْهَا مِنَ الطَّحِينِ : فَقُلْتُ لَوْ أَتَيْتِ أَبَاكِ فَسَأَلْتِهِ خَادِمًا ، فَقَالَ : " أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمَا عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمَا مِنَ الْخَادِمِ ، إِذَا أَخَذْتُمَا مَضْجَعَكُمَا تَقُولَانِ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَأَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ مِنْ تَحْمِيدٍ وَتَسْبِيحٍ وَتَكْبِيرٍ " ، وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ قِصَّةٌ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ .
´Ali [may Allah be pleased with him] said:` “Fatimah complained to me about her hands blistering from grinding flour. So I said: ‘If you were to approach your father and ask him for a servant?’ So he (the Prophet) said: ‘Should I not direct the two of you, to that which is better for you than a servant? When the two of you lay down to sleep, say thirty-three, thirty-three, thirty-four, of At-Taḥmīd, At-Tasbīḥ, and At-Takbīr.”
Hadith 3409
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ السَّمَّانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَشْكُو مَجَلًا بِيَدَيْهَا فَأَمَرَهَا بِالتَّسْبِيحِ وَالتَّكْبِيرِ وَالتَّحْمِيدِ " .
´Ali [may Allah be pleased with him] said:` “Fatimah went to the Prophet complaining of her hands blistering, so he ordered her to say At-Tasbīḥ, At-Takbīr, and At-Taḥmīd.”
Hadith 3694
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْقُدُّوسِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَطَّلِعُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَاطَّلَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : يَطَّلِعُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَاطَّلَعَ عُمَرُ " . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، وَجَابِرٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا غَرِيبٌ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ .
´Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud:` that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "A man among the inhabitants of Paradise will appear before you." So Abu Bakr appeared. Then he said: "A man among the inhabitants of Paradise will appear before you." So 'Umar appeared.
Hadith 3859
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ هُوَ السَّلْمَانِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِي قَوْمٌ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ تَسْبِقُ أَيْمَانُهُمْ شَهَادَاتِهِمْ أَوْ شَهَادَاتُهُمْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ " . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عُمَرَ ، وَعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، وَبُرَيْدَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud:` that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The best generation is my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then comes a people after that whose swearing precedes their testimony, or whose testimony precedes their swearing."
