Hadith 462
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدِ ، عَنْ أَبِيِه زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَّمَنِي جِبْرَائِيلُ الْوُضُوءَ ، وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَنْضَحَ تَحْتَ ثَوْبِي لِمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ " .
´Usamah bin Zaid narrated that his father Zaid bin Harithah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Jibril taught me (how to perform) the ablution, and he ordered me to sprinkle water underneath my garment, lest a drop of urine leak out after the ablution.'" (Da'if) Other chains with similar wording.
Hadith 795
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل الْهُذَلِيُّ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ الزَّبْرِقَانِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الضَّمْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ رِجَالٌ عَنْ تَرْكِ الْجَمَاعَةِ أَوْ لَأُحَرِّقَنَّ بُيُوتَهُمْ " .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Zaid said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Let men desist from failing to attend the congregation, otherwise I will burn their houses down.'"
Hadith 1588
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ ابْنٌ لِبَعْضِ بَنَاتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْضِي ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهَا ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا ، أَنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى ، وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ عِنْدَهُ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ، فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَأَقْسَمَتْ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ ، وَمَعَهُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ ، وَأُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ ، وَعُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلْنَا نَاوَلُوا الصَّبِيَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرُوحُهُ تَقَلْقَلُ فِي صَدْرِهِ ، قَالَ : حَسِبْتُهُ ، قَالَ : كَأَنَّهَا شَنَّةٌ ، قَالَ : فَبَكَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ : مَا هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " الرَّحْمَةُ الَّتِي جَعَلَهَا اللَّهُ فِي بَنِي آدَمَ ، وَإِنَّمَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الرُّحَمَاءَ " .
´Usamah bin Zaid said:` “The son of one of the daughters of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was dying. She sent for him, asking him to come to her, and he sent word to her, saying: ‘To Allah belongs what He has taken and to Him belongs what He has given. Everything has an appointed time with Him, so be patient and seek reward.’ But she sent for him again, adjuring him to come. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) got up, and I got up with him, as did Mu’adh bin Jabal, Ubayy bin Ka’b and ‘Ubadah bin Samit. When we entered they handed the child to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and his soul was rattling in his chest.” I think he was that it was like a water skin. “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wept, and ‘Ubadah bin Samit said to him: ‘What is this, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said: ‘It is compassion which Allah has created in the son of Adam. Allah only shows mercy to those of His slaves who are compassionate.’”
Hadith 1744
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَنَّ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ كَانَ يَصُومُ أَشْهُرَ الْحُرُمِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صُمْ شَوَّالًا فَتَرَكَ أَشْهُرَ الْحُرُمِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَصُومُ شَوَّالًا حَتَّى مَاتَ " .
´It was narrated from Muhammad bin Ibrahim that Usamah bin Zaid used to fast the sacred months. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him:` “Fast Shawwal.” So he forsook the sacred months and he continued to fast Shawwal until he died.
Hadith 2257
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : " الدِّرْهَمُ بِالدِّرْهَمِ وَالدِّينَارُ بِالدِّينَارِ " ، فَقُلْتُ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ . (حديث موقوف) (حديث مرفوع) قَالَ : أَمَا إِنِّي لَقِيتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقُلْتُ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ هَذَا الَّذِي تَقُولُ فِي الصَّرْفِ أَشَيْءٌ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْ شَيْءٌ وَجَدْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : مَا وَجَدْتُهُ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَكِنْ أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا الرِّبَا فِي النَّسِيئَةِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "I heard Abu Saeed Al-Khudri say: 'A Dirham for a Dirham and a Dinar for a Dinar.' So I said: 'I heard Ibn 'Abbas say something other than that.' He said: 'But I met Ibn 'Abbas and said: "Tell me about what you say concerning exchange is it something that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) or something that You found in the Book of Allah?" He said: "I did not find it in the Book of Allah, and I did not hear it from the Messenger of Allah; rather Usamah bin Zaid told me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Usury is only in credit."[1]
Hadith 2729
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَرِثُ الْمُسْلِمُ الْكَافِرَ وَلَا الْكَافِرُ الْمُسْلِمَ " .
´It was narrated from Usamah bin Zaid, who attributed it to the Prophet (ﷺ):` “The Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever and the disbeliever does not inherit from a Muslim.”
Hadith 2730
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ عُثْمَانَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَتَنْزِلُ فِي دَارِكَ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ : " وَهَلْ تَرَكَ لَنَا عَقِيلٌ مِنْ رِبَاعٍ أَوْ دُورٍ " ، وَكَانَ عَقِيلٌ وَرِثَ أَبَا طَالِبٍ هُوَ وَطَالِبٌ وَلَمْ يَرِثْ جَعْفَرٌ وَلَا عَلِيٌّ شَيْئًا لِأَنَّهُمَا كَانَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ ، وَكَانَ عَقِيلٌ وَطَالِبٌ كَافِرَيْنِ ، فَكَانَ عُمَرُ مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ : لَا يَرِثُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْكَافِرَ ، قَالَ أُسَامَةُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَرِثُ الْمُسْلِمُ الْكَافِرَ ، وَلَا الْكَافِرُ الْمُسْلِمَ " .
´It was narrated from Usamah bin Zaid that he said:` “O Messenger of Allah, will you stay in your house in Makkah?” He said: “Has ‘Aqeel left us any houses?” 'Aqeel had inherited Abu Talib along with Talib. Neither Ja'far nor 'Ali inherited anything because they had been Muslims, and 'Aqeel and Talib had been disbelievers. So on account of that, Omar would say the believer does not inherit from the disbeliever. And Usamah said: the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said "The Muslim does not inherit from the disbeliever nor the disbeliever from the Muslim."
Hadith 2843
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : " بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى قَرْيَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا : أُبْنَى ، فَقَالَ : ائْتِ أُبْنَى صَبَاحًا ثُمَّ حَرِّقْ " .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Said said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me to a village called Ubna, and said: “Go to Ubna in the morning and burn it.’”
Hadith 2942
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيْنَ تَنْزِلُ غَدًا ؟ وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّتِهِ ، قَالَ : " وَهَلْ تَرَكَ لَنَا عَقِيلٌ مَنْزِلًا ؟ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَحْنُ نَازِلُونَ غَدًا بِخَيْفِ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ ، يَعْنِي الْمُحَصَّبَ ، حَيْثُ قَاسَمَتْ قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى الْكُفْرِ " ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ حَالَفَتْ قُرَيْشًا عَلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، أَنْ لَا يُنَاكِحُوهُمْ وَلَا يُبَايِعُوهُمْ ، قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : وَالْخَيْفُ الْوَادِي .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Zaid said:` “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, where will you stay tomorrow?’ That was during his Hajj. He said: ‘Has ‘Aqil left us any house?’ Then he said: ‘Tomorrow we will stay in the valley of Banu Kinanah, Muhassab where the Quraish swore an oath of disbelief.’” That was where the Banu Kinana had sworn an oath with the Quriash against Banu Hashim, that they would not intermarry with them or engage in trade with them. Ma’mar said: “Zuhri said: Khaif means a valley.’”
Hadith 3017
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسِيرُ حِينَ دَفَعَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ يَسِيرُ الْعَنَقَ ، فَإِذَا وَجَدَ فَجْوَةً نَصَّ " ، قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : وَالنَّصُّ يَعْنِي : فَوْقَ الْعَنَقِ .
´It was narrated from Usamah bin Zaid that he was asked:` “How did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) travel when he departed from ‘Arafat?” He said: “He moved at a quick pace, and when he reached an open space he would make his camel run.”
Hadith 3019
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : أَفَضْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الشِّعْبَ الَّذِي يَنْزِلُ عِنْدَهُ الْأُمَرَاءُ نَزَلَ ، فَبَالَ وَتَوَضَّأَ ، قُلْتُ : الصَّلَاةَ ، قَالَ : " الصَّلَاةُ أَمَامُكَ " ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَى جَمْعٍ أَذَّنَ وَأَقَامَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحِلَّ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، حَتَّى قَامَ فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Zaid said:` “I departed from ‘Arafat with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and when he reached the mountain path at which the chiefs would dismount, he dismounted and urinated, then performed ablution. I said: ‘(Is it time for) prayer?’ He said: ‘The prayer is still ahead of you.’ When he reached Jam’ (Muzdalifah) he called the Adhan and Iqamah, then he prayed Maghrib. Then no one among the people unloaded (the camels) until he had prayed ‘Isha’.”
Hadith 3998
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الصَّوَّافُ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ , عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ , عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا أَدَعُ بَعْدِي فِتْنَةً أَضَرَّ عَلَى الرِّجَالِ , مِنَ النِّسَاءِ " .
´It was narrated from Usamah bin Zaid that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “I am not leaving behind me any tribulation that is more harmful to men than women.”
Hadith 4332
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ , حَدَّثَنِي الضَّحَّاكُ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ , عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى , عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " أَلَا مُشَمِّرٌ لِلْجَنَّةِ , فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ لَا خَطَرَ لَهَا , هِيَ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ نُورٌ يَتَلَأْلَأُ , وَرَيْحَانَةٌ تَهْتَزُّ , وَقَصْرٌ مَشِيدٌ , وَنَهَرٌ مُطَّرِدٌ , وَفَاكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ , نَضِيجَةٌ وَزَوْجَةٌ , حَسْنَاءُ جَمِيلَةٌ , وَحُلَلٌ كَثِيرَةٌ فِي مَقَامٍ أَبَدًا , فِي حَبْرَةٍ وَنَضْرَةٍ فِي دُارٍ عَالِيَةٍ سَلِيمَةٍ بَهِيَّةٍ " , قَالُوا : نَحْنُ الْمُشَمِّرُونَ لَهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " قُولُوا : إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ " , ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الْجِهَادَ وَحَضَّ عَلَيْهِ .
´Usamah bin Zaid said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said one day to his Companions: ‘Who will strive hard with sincerity for Paradise? For there is nothing like Paradise. By the Lord of the Ka’bah, it is sparkling light, sweet basil waving in the breeze, a lofty palace, a flowing river, abundant ripe fruit, a beautiful wife and many fine garments, in a palace of eternal abode, in ease and luxury, in beautiful, strongly-built, lofty houses.’ They said: ‘We will strive heard for it, O Messenger of Allah.’ He said: ‘Say: In sha’ Allah (if Allah wills).’ Then he mentioned Jihad and encouraged them to engage in it.”
