Hadith 1729
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، وَالشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ، قَالَ : أَتَانَا كِتَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ لَا تَنْتَفِعُوا مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ بِإِهَابٍ وَلَا عَصَبٍ "، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ، وَيُرْوَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَشْيَاخٍ لَهُمْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ ، وَلَيْسَ الْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : أَتَانَا كِتَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ وَفَاتِهِ بِشَهْرَيْنِ ، قَالَ : وسَمِعْت أَحْمَدَ بْنَ الْحَسَنِ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ يَذْهَبُ إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ لِمَا ذُكِرَ فِيهِ قَبْلَ وَفَاتِهِ بِشَهْرَيْنِ ، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ : كَانَ هَذَا آخِرَ أَمْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ تَرَكَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ لَمَّا اضْطَرَبُوا فِي إِسْنَادِهِ ، حَيْثُ رَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ فَقَالَ : عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَشْيَاخٍ لَهُمْ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ .
‘Abdullah bin Ukeem says that a letter from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us stating that you people should not benefit from the skins __QUR_N__ and sinews of dead animals. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is Hasan,
2- This hadith has also come from Abdullah bin Ukeem through his shuyukh,
3- Most of the people of knowledge do not act upon this,
4- This hadith is narrated from Abdullah bin Ukeem, he said: A letter from the Prophet (ﷺ) came to us two months before his death,
5- I heard Ahmad bin Hasan say, Ahmad bin Hanbal used to prefer this hadith because it mentions that it was two months before the Prophet’s death, and he also used to say: This was the last command of the Prophet (ﷺ),
6- Then Ahmad bin Hanbal abandoned this hadith because there is confusion in its chain from the narrators, as some people narrate it from Abdullah bin Ukeem through his shuyukh from Juhainah.

Hadith 2072
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَدُّوَيْهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عِيسَى أَخِيهِ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ أَبِي مَعْبَدِ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَعُودُهُ وَبِهِ حُمْرَةٌ ، فَقُلْنَا : أَلَا تُعَلِّقُ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ : الْمَوْتُ أَقْرَبُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَعَلَّقَ شَيْئًا وُكِلَ إِلَيْهِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَحَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ إِنَّمَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُكَيْمٍ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكَانَ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : كَتَبَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ،
´"'Eisa Ibn 'Abdur-Raman bin Abi Laila said:` "I entered upon 'Abdullah bin 'Ukaim Abu Mabad Al-Juhani to visit him, while he had Humrah. I said:'Why don't you hang something?' He said: 'Death is better than that. The Prophet (S.A.W) said: "Whoever hangs something, he is entrusted to it." Another chain reports a similar narration.
Hadith 3586
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنِ الْجَرَّاحِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ الْكِنْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ : عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " قُلْ : اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ سَرِيرَتِي خَيْرًا مِنْ عَلَانِيَتِي ، وَاجْعَلْ عَلَانِيَتِي صَالِحَةً ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ صَالِحِ مَا تُؤْتِي النَّاسَ مِنَ الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَالْوَلَدِ غَيْرِ الضَّالِّ وَلَا الْمُضِلِّ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا غَرِيبٌ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِالْقَوِيِّ .
´`Umar bin Al-Khattab said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me, saying: ‘Say: “O Allah, make my secret better than my apparent condition, and make my apparent condition righteous. O Allah, I ask You for the righteous of what you give to the people, of wealth, wives, and children, not (to be) misguided, nor misguiding. (Allāhummaj`al sarīratī khairan min `alāniyatī waj`al `alāniyatī ṣāliha. Allāhumma innī as’aluka min ṣālihi mā tu’tin-nāsa minal-māli wal-ahli wal waladi, ghairaḍ-ḍāli wa lal-muḍil).”
