Hadith 851
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِجَابِرٍ : الضَّبُعُ أَصَيْدٌ هِيَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ آكُلُهَا ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَقَالَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ : قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ : وَرَوَى جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ، فَقَالَ : عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ، وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَصَحُّ ، وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَحْمَدَ ، وَإِسْحَاق ، وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ فِي الْمُحْرِمِ إِذَا أَصَابَ ضَبُعًا ، أَنَّ عَلَيْهِ الْجَزَاءَ .
´Ibn Abi Ammar said:` "I asked Jabir bin Abdullah: 'Is the hyena game?' He said: 'Yes'" He said: "I said: 'Can it be eaten?' He said: 'Yes.'" He said: "I said: 'Did the Messenger of Allah say that?' He said: 'Yes.'"
Hadith 1791
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِجَابِرٍ : " الضَّبُعُ صَيْدٌ هِيَ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ ، قُلْتُ : آكُلُهَا ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لَهُ : أَقَالَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَى هَذَا وَلَمْ يَرَوْا بِأَكْلِ الضَّبُعِ بَأْسًا وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَحْمَدَ وَإِسْحَاق ، وَرُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثٌ فِي كَرَاهِيَةِ أَكْلِ الضَّبُعِ وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِالْقَوِيِّ وَقَدْ كَرِهَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَكْلَ الضَّبُعِ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ : وَرَوَى جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ قَوْلَهُ وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَصَحُّ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ هُوَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ الْمَكِّيُّ .
Ibn Abi Ammar says: I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): Is the hyena also considered game? He said: Yes. I asked: Can it be eaten? He said: Yes. I asked: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say this? He said: Yes. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is hasan sahih.
2- Yahya Qattan says: Jarir bin Hazim narrated this hadith with this chain: Abdullah bin Ubaid bin Umair from Ibn Abi Ammar, Ibn Abi Ammar from Jabir, and Jabir from the statement of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Ibn Jurayj’s narration is more authentic.
3- Some people of knowledge hold this view; they do not see any harm in eating hyena. This is also the opinion of Ahmad and Ishaq bin Rahwayh.
4- There is a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding the dislike of eating hyena, but its chain is not strong.
5- Some people of knowledge consider eating the badger to be disliked; this is also the opinion of Ibn Mubarak.

Hadith 3034
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَال : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَابَاهُ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ : إِنَّمَا قَالَ اللَّهُ : أَنْ تَقْصُرُوا مِنَ الصَّلاةِ إِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنَكُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سورة النساء آية 101 ، وَقَدْ أَمِنَ النَّاسُ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : عَجِبْتُ مِمَّا عَجِبْتَ مِنْهُ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " صَدَقَةٌ تَصَدَّقَ اللَّهُ بِهَا عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَاقْبَلُوا صَدَقَتَهُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated Ya'la bin Umayyah:` "I said to 'Umar [bin Al-Khattab]: 'Allah said: That you shorten the Salat if you fear and the people are safe (4:101).' So 'Umar said: 'I wondered about that just as you have wondered. So I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he said: "It is charity which Allah has given to you, so accept His charity."
