Hadith 15
حَدَّثَنَا
أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا
أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ
الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ
أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ
جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ قَوْقَلٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتُ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ ، وَحَرَّمْتُ الْحَرَامَ ، وَأَحْلَلْتُ الْحَلَالَ ، أَأَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّة ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : نَعَمْ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that Nu'man bin Qaufal came to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said: Would I enter Paradise if I say the obligatory prayers and deny myself that which is forbidden and treat that as lawful what has been made permissible (by the Shari'ah)? The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) replied in the affirmative.
Hadith 15
A similar hadith is narrated on Jabir's authority in which the following words are added: I will do nothing more.
Hadith 82
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that he heard the Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) saying. Verily between man and between polytheism and unbelief is the negligence of prayer.
Hadith 93
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that a man came to the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) and said: Messenger of Allah, what are the two things quite unavoidable? He replied: He who dies without associating anyone with Allah would (necessarily) enter Paradise and he who dies associating anything with Allah would enter the (Fire of) Hell.
Hadith 328
Jabir bin 'Abdullah (RA) reported: A delegation of the Thaqif said to the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) : Our land is cold; what about our bathing then? He (the Holy Prophet) said: I pour water thrice over my head.
Hadith 388
Abu Sufyan (RA) reported it on the authority of Jabir that he had heard the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) say: When Satan hears the call to prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of Rauha. Sulaimin said: I asked him about Rauha. He replied: It is at a distance of thirty-six miles from Madinah.
Hadith 519
Abu Sa'id al Khudri reported: I visited the Apostle (ﷺ) and saw him praying on a reed mat on which he was prostrating himself. And I saw him praying in a single garment with ends crossed with each other.
Hadith 661
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that he went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and found him observing prayer on a mat and prostrating on that.
Hadith 668
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The similitude of five prayers is like an overflowing river passing by the gate of one of you in which he washes five times daily Hasan said: No filthiness can remain on him.

جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ خَافَ أَنْ لَا يَقُومَ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ ، فَلْيُوتِرْ أَوَّلَهُ ، وَمَنْ طَمِعَ أَنْ يَقُومَ آخِرَهُ ، فَلْيُوتِرْ آخِرَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَإِنَّ صَلَاةَ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ مَشْهُودَةٌ ، وَذَلِكَ أَفْضَلُ " ، وَقَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ : مَحْضُورَةٌ .
Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone is afraid that he may not get up in the latter part of the night, he should observe Witr in the first part of it; and if anyone is eager to get up in the last part of it, he should observe Witr at the end of the night, for prayer at the end of the night is witnessed (by the angels) and that is preferable.
Hadith 756
Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about the prayer which was most excellent. He said: That in which the standing is longer. (This hadith is narrated by another chain of transmitters too.)
Hadith 757
وحَدَّثَنَا

أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ
جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ فِي اللَّيْلِ لَسَاعَةً لَا يُوَافِقُهَا رَجُلٌ مُسْلِمٌ ، يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ خَيْرًا مِنْ أَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ ، وَذَلِكَ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ " .
Jabir said he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: There is an hour during the night in which no Muslim individual will ask Allah for good in this world and the next without His giving it to him; and that applies to every night.
Hadith 778
Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: When any one of you observes prayer in the mosque he should reserve a part of his prayer for his house, for Allah would make the prayer as a means of betterment in his house.

أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَسَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ
جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، إِذْ قَدِمَتْ عِيرٌ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَابْتَدَرَهَا أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا ، فِيهِمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ ، قَالَ : وَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا سورة الجمعة آية 11 " .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah (RA) reported: While the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) was delivering (a sermon) on Friday, a caravan of merchandise came to Madinah. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) rushed towards it till only twelve persons were left with him including Abu Bakr (RA) and 'Umar; and it was at this occasion that this verse was revealed." And when they see merchandise or sport, they break away to it."
Hadith 875
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported: Sulaik Ghatafani came on Friday when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was delivering the sermon. He (Sulaik) sat down. He (the Holy Prophet) said to him: O Sulaik I stand and observe two rak'ahs and make them short, and then said: When any one of you comes on Friday, while the Imam delivers the sermon, he should observe two rak'ahs and should make them short.
Hadith 1536
Jabir (Allah he pleased with him) reported:I heard Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: He who has (surplus) land should donate it (to others), or lend it.

This hadith is transmitted on the authority of Abu Muawiya (but With a slight change of words).
Hadith 1911
It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir who said: We were with the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) on an expedition. He said: There are some people in Madinah. They are with you whenever you cover a distance or cross a valley. They have been detained by illness.
Hadith 2011
Jabir reported that a person who was known as Abu Humaid brought for him (the Holy Prophet) a cup of milk from al-Naqi'. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: Why did you not cover it even with a wood across it?

جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَحْضُرُ أَحَدَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مِنْ شَأْنِهِ حَتَّى يَحْضُرَهُ عِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ ، فَإِذَا سَقَطَتْ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمُ اللُّقْمَةُ ، فَلْيُمِطْ مَا كَانَ بِهَا مِنْ أَذًى ثُمَّ لِيَأْكُلْهَا ، وَلَا يَدَعْهَا لِلشَّيْطَانِ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغَ فَلْيَلْعَقْ أَصَابِعَهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي فِي أَيِّ طَعَامِهِ تَكُونُ الْبَرَكَةُ " .
Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: The Satan is present with any one of you in everything he does; he is present even when he eats food; so if any one of you drops a mouthful he should remove away anything filthy on it and eat it and not leave for the devil; and when he finishes (food) he should lick his fingers, for he does not know in what portion of his food the blessing lies.
Hadith 2033
Jabir reported from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) about mentioning the licking (of fingers) and the (falling of) the mouthful.
Hadith 2052
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) asked his family for condiment. They (the members of his household) said: We have nothing with us but vinegar. He asked for it, he began to eat it, and then said: Vinegar is a good condiment, vinegar is a good condiment.
Hadith 2052
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took hold of my hand one day (and led me) to his residence. There was presented to him some pieces of bread, whereupon he said: Is there no condiment? They (the members of his household) said: No, except some vinegar. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Vinegar is a good condiment. Jabir said: I have always loved vinegar since I heard it trom Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) . Talha said: I have always loved vinegar since I heard about it from Jabir.
Hadith 2052
This hadith is reported on the authority of Jabir bin 'Abdullah that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took hold of his hand and led him to his residence as narrated above up to the words: "Vinegar is a good condiment." But in the hadith transmitted through this chain of transmitters, there is no mention of the subsequent part.

حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي زَيْنَبَ ، حَدَّثَنِي
أَبُو سُفْيَانَ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ
جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا فِي دَارِي فَمَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَشَارَ إِلَيَّ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَانْطَلَقْنَا حَتَّى أَتَى بَعْضَ حُجَرِ نِسَائِهِ ، فَدَخَلَ ثُمَّ أَذِنَ لِي فَدَخَلْتُ الْحِجَابَ عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ مِنْ غَدَاءٍ ؟ " ، فَقَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، فَأُتِيَ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَقْرِصَةٍ فَوُضِعْنَ عَلَى نَبِيٍّ ، فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُرْصًا فَوَضَعَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، وَأَخَذَ قُرْصًا آخَرَ فَوَضَعَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ الثَّالِثَ فَكَسَرَهُ بِاثْنَيْنِ ، فَجَعَلَ نِصْفَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَنِصْفَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " هَلْ مِنْ أُدُمٍ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : لَا إِلَّا شَيْءٌ مِنْ خَلٍّ ، قَالَ : " هَاتُوهُ فَنِعْمَ الْأُدُمُ هُوَ " .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported: While I was sitting in my house there happened to pass by me Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . He made a gesture to me and I stood up for him. He took hold of my hand until we came to one of the apartments of his wives. He entered and then asked me to get in. So I entered and there was hanging a curtain beside her. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Is there any food (with you)? They (the members of the household) said: Yes. And then there were brought three loaves of bread for him (the Holy Prophet) and placed in the basket of palm leaves. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) picked up one loaf and placed that before him, and then picked up another one and placed it before me. He then picked up the third one and broke it into two parts, and kept the one-half before him and the other half before me, and then said: Is there any condiment? They (the members of the household) said: There is nothing (in the form of condiment) but some vinegar only. He said: Bring that, for vinegar is a good condiment.

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Food for one suffices two and food for two suffices for four.

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Food for one (person) suffices two, and food for two (persons) suffices four persons and food for four persons suffices eight persons.
Hadith 2199
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported I had a maternal uncle who treated the sting of the scorpion with the help of incantation. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade incantation. He came to him and said: Allah's Messenger, you forbade to practise incantation, whereas I employ it for curing the sting of the scorpion, whereupon he said: He who amongst you is capable of employing it as a means to do good should do that.

جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرُّقَى ، فَجَاءَ آلُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهُ كَانَتْ عِنْدَنَا رُقْيَةٌ نَرْقِي بِهَا مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ ، وَإِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الرُّقَى ، قَالَ : فَعَرَضُوهَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا أَرَى بَأْسًا مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَنْفَعْهُ " .
Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prohibited incantation. Then the people of Amr bin Hazm came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: We know an incantation which we use for curing the sting of the scorpion but you have prohibited it. They recited (the words of incantation) before him, whereupon he said: I do not see any harm (in it), so he who amongst you is competent to do good to his brother should do that.
Hadith 2207
Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent a physician to Ubayy bin Ka'b. He cut the vein and then cauterised it.
Hadith 2207
Jabir bin 'Abdillah reported that on the day of Ahzab Ubayy received the wound of an arrow in his medial arm vein. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cauterised it.
Hadith 2268

جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ كَأَنَّ رَأْسِي ضُرِبَ ، فَتَدَحْرَجَ فَاشْتَدَدْتُ عَلَى أَثَرِهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْأَعْرَابِيِّ : لَا تُحَدِّثْ النَّاسَ بِتَلَعُّبِ الشَّيْطَانِ بِكَ فِي مَنَامِكَ ، وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدُ يَخْطُبُ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا يُحَدِّثَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِتَلَعُّبِ الشَّيْطَانِ بِهِ فِي مَنَامِهِ " .
Jabir reported that there came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) a desert Arab and said: Allah's Messenger, I saw in the state of sleep as if my head had been cut off and I had been moving on haltingly after it. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to that desert Arab: Do not narrate to the people the vain sporting of satan with you in your sleep and (the narrator) also said: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in his subsequent address: None amongst you should narrate the vain sporting of devil with him in the dream.
Hadith 2268

وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ
الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ
أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ
جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ كَأَنَّ رَأْسِي قُطِعَ قَالَ ، فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ : " إِذَا لَعِبَ الشَّيْطَانُ بِأَحَدِكُمْ فِي مَنَامِهِ ، فَلَا يُحَدِّثْ بِهِ النَّاسَ " ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، إِذَا لُعِبَ بِأَحَدِكُمْ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الشَّيْطَانَ .
Jabir reported that a'person came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and said: Allah's Messenger, I have seen in the state of sleep as if my head had been cut off. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) laughed and said: When the satan plays with any one of you in the state of sleep, do not mention it to the people; and in the hadith transmitted by Abu Bakr (RA) (the words are): "If one of you is played with", and he did not make any mention of the word: "Satan."

Jabir reported that the Throne of the most Compassionate shook because of the death of Sa'd bin Mu'adh.

Jabir reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) a hadith like it but with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2782
حَدَّثَنِي

الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ

جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ قُرْبَ الْمَدِينَةِ هَاجَتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ تَكَادُ أَنْ تَدْفِنَ الرَّاكِبَ ، فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " بُعِثَتْ هَذِهِ الرِّيحُ لِمَوْتِ مُنَافِقٍ " ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَإِذَا مُنَافِقٌ عَظِيمٌ مِنَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ قَدْ مَاتَ " .
Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came back from a journey and as he was near Madinah, there was such a violent gale that the mountain seemed to be pressed. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: This wind has perhaps been made to blow for the death of a hypocrite, and as he reached Madinah a notorious hypocrite from amongst the hypocrites had died.
Hadith 2812
Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Verily, the Satan has lost all hopes that the worshippers would ever worship (him) in the peninsula of Arabia, but he (is hopeful) that he would sow the seed of dissension amongst them.
Hadith 2813
Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The throne of Iblis is upon the ocean and he sends detachments (to different parts) in order to put people to trial and the most important figure in his eyes is one who is most notorious in sowing the seed of dissension.

جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ إِبْلِيسَ يَضَعُ عَرْشَهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ ، ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُ سَرَايَاهُ فَأَدْنَاهُمْ مِنْهُ مَنْزِلَةً أَعْظَمُهُمْ فِتْنَةً ، يَجِيءُ أَحَدُهُمْ ، فَيَقُولُ : فَعَلْتُ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَيَقُولُ : مَا صَنَعْتَ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ أَحَدُهُمْ ، فَيَقُولُ : مَا تَرَكْتُهُ حَتَّى فَرَّقْتُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ امْرَأَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَيُدْنِيهِ مِنْهُ ، وَيَقُولُ : نِعْمَ أَنْتَ " ، قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ : أُرَاهُ قَالَ فَيَلْتَزِمُهُ .
Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension) ; the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife. The Satan goes near him and says: 'You have done well. A'mash said: He then embraces him.
