Hadith 189
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِيَدِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْخَلْقَ رَحْمَتِي سَبَقَتْ غَضَبِي " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Your Lord wrote for Himself with His Own Hand before He created the creation: "My mercy precedes My wrath."
Hadith 814
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، وَبَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ ، وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ عَمِّ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ : " يَفْتَتِحُ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ " .
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to start his recitation with ‘All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of all that exists’ (Al-hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin),’ [1:2]
Hadith 853
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ عَمِّ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : تَرَكَ النَّاسُ التَّأْمِينَ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا قَالَ : غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 قَالَ : آمِينَ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَهَا أَهْلُ الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ فَيَرْتَجُّ بِهَا الْمَسْجِدُ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The people stopped saying Amin, but when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said ‘Not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray’[1:7] he would say Amin, until the people in the first row could hear it, and the mosque would shake with it.
Hadith 881M
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، وَصَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَقْرَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ .
A similar marfu' hadith is also narrated through this chain.
Hadith 1467
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ خِذَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا غَسَّلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ذَهَبَ يَلْتَمِسُ مِنْهُ مَا يَلْتَمِسُ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ ، فَلَمْ يَجِدْهُ ، فَقَالَ بِأَبِي الطَّيِّبُ : طِبْتَ حَيًّا وَطِبْتَ مَيِّتًا " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ali bin Abu Talib said that when he washed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) he looked for what which is usually looked for on the deceased (i.e., dirt), and he found none. He said:` “May my father be sacrificed for you, you are pure; you were pure in life and you are pure in death.”
Hadith 1545
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جُنَادَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اتَّبَعَ جِنَازَةً لَمْ يَقْعُدْ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ فِي اللَّحْدِ ، فَعَرَضَ لَهُ حَبْرٌ ، فَقَالَ : هَكَذَا نَصْنَعُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ؟ فَجَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ : خَالِفُوهُمْ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ubadah bin Samit said:` “When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) followed a funeral, he would not sit down until it had been placed in the niche-grave. A rabbi came to him and said: ‘This is what we do, O Muhammad!’ So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat down and said: ‘Be different from them.’”
Hadith 2325
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نِسْطَاسٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ بِيَمِينٍ آثِمَةٍ عِنْدَ مِنْبَرِي هَذَا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَوْ عَلَى سِوَاكٍ أَخْضَرَ " .
´It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` 'Whoever swears a false oath near this pulpit of mine, let him take his place in Hell, even if it is for a green twig.”
Hadith 2795
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ مَجْرُوحٍ يُجْرَحُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ يُجْرَحُ فِي سَبِيلِهِ ، إِلَّا جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَجُرْحُهُ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ جُرِحَ اللَّوْنُ لَوْنُ دَمٍ وَالرِّيحُ رِيحُ مِسْكٍ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “There is no one who is wounded in the cause of Allah – and Allah knows best of who is wounded in His cause – but he will come on the Day of Resurrection with his wounds looking as they did on the day he was wounded; their color will be the color of blood but their smell will be the fragrance of musk.”
Hadith 2802
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، وبشر بن آدم ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا يَجِدُ الشَّهِيدُ مِنَ الْقَتْلِ إِلَّا كَمَا يَجِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ الْقَرْصَةِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The martyr does not feel anything more when he is killed than one of you feels if he is pinched (by a bug).”
Hadith 3320
حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ , حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ جَدِّهِ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ , يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُوا الزَّيْتَ وَادَّهِنُوا بِهِ , فَإِنَّهُ مُبَارَكٌ " .
´‘Abdullah bin Sa’eed narrated that his grandfather said:` “I heard Abu Hurairah say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Eat (olive) oil and anoint yourselves with it, for it is blessed.’”
Hadith 3960
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ مُؤَذِّنُ مَسْجِدِ حُرْدَانَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي عُدَيْسَةُ بِنْتُ أُهْبَانَ , قَالَتْ : لَمَّا جَاءَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ هَاهُنَا الْبَصْرَةَ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَبِي , فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا مُسْلِمٍ , أَلَا تُعِينُنِي عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمِ , قَالَ : بَلَى , قَالَ : فَدَعَا جَارِيَةً لَهُ , فَقَالَ : يَا جَارِيَةُ , أَخْرِجِي سَيْفِي , قَالَ : فَأَخْرَجَتْهُ فَسَلَّ مِنْهُ قَدْرَ شِبْرٍ , فَإِذَا هُوَ خَشَبٌ , فَقَالَ : إِنَّ خَلِيلِي وَابْنَ عَمِّكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ " إِذَا كَانَتِ الْفِتْنَةُ بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَأَتَّخِذُ سَيْفًا مِنْ خَشَبٍ " , فَإِنْ شِئْتَ خَرَجْتُ مَعَكَ , قَالَ : لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيكَ , وَلَا فِي سَيْفِكَ .
´‘Udaisah bint Uhban said:` “When ‘Ali bin Abu Talib came to Basrah, he entered upon my father and said: ‘O Abu Muslim, will you not help me against these people?’ He said: ‘Of course.’ So he called a slave woman of his and said: ‘O slave woman, bring me my sword.’ So she brought it, and he unsheathed it a span, and (I saw that) it was made of wood. He said: ‘My close friend and your cousin (ﷺ) advised me, if tribulation (Fitnah) arose among the Muslims, that I should take a sword of wood. If you wish I will go out with you.’ He said: ‘I have no need of you or of your sword.’”
Hadith 4170
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ , يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نِعْمَتَانِ مَغْبُونٌ فِيهِمَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ : الصِّحَّةُ وَالْفَرَاغُ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Sa’eed bin Abu Hind that his father said:` “I heard Ibn ‘Abbas saying that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Two blessings which many people squander: Good health and free time.’”
