Hadith 96
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَأْمُرُنَا إِذَا كُنَّا سَفَرًا أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ ، وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ وَنَوْمٍ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عُتَيْبَةَ , وَحَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ ، عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، وَلَا يَصِحُّ . قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ : قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ : قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : لَمْ يَسْمَعْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ النَّخَعِيُّ مِنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ حَدِيثَ الْمَسْحِ . وقَالَ زَائِدَةُ : عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ كُنَّا فِي حُجْرَةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ وَمَعَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ النَّخَعِيُّ ، فَحَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَدَلِيِّ ، عَنْ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ . قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل : أَحْسَنُ شَيْءٍ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ حَدِيثُ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيِّ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَكْثَرِ الْعُلَمَاءِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالتَّابِعِينَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ مِنَ الْفُقَهَاءِ ، مِثْلِ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، وَابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ، وَالشَّافِعِيِّ ، وَأَحْمَدَ ، وَإِسْحَاق ، قَالُوا : يَمْسَحُ الْمُقِيمُ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً ، وَالْمُسَافِرُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ ، أَنَّهُمْ لَمْ يُوَقِّتُوا فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، وَهُوَ قَوْلُ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ . قال أبو عيسى : وَالتَّوْقِيتُ أَصَحُّ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ أَيْضًا ، مِنْ غَيْرِ حَدِيثِ عَاصِمٍ .
´Safwan bin Assal narrated:` 'When we were traveling, Allah's Messenger would order us not to remove our Khuff for three days and nights, except for Janabah, but not for defecating, urinating, and sleep."
Hadith 2387
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ جَهْوَرِيُّ الصَّوْتِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ الرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّ الْقَوْمَ وَلَمَّا يَلْحَقْ بِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ " , قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Safwan bin Assal narrated that a Bedouin with a loud voice and said:` " O Muhammad! A man loves the people but does not catch up to them (in deeds)." So the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: "A man shall be with whomever he loves."
Hadith 2733
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ , عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ يَهُودِيٌّ لِصَاحِبِهِ اذْهَبْ بِنَا إِلَى هَذَا النَّبِيِّ ، فَقَالَ صَاحِبُهُ : لَا تَقُلْ نَبِيٌّ إِنَّهُ لَوْ سَمِعَكَ كَانَ لَهُ أَرْبَعَةُ أَعْيُنٍ ، فَأَتَيَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَاهُ عَنْ تِسْعِ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ : " لَا تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، وَلَا تَسْرِقُوا ، وَلَا تَزْنُوا ، وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ، وَلَا تَمْشُوا بِبَرِيءٍ إِلَى ذِي سُلْطَانٍ لِيَقْتُلَهُ ، وَلَا تَسْحَرُوا ، وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا الرِّبَا ، وَلَا تَقْذِفُوا مُحْصَنَةً ، وَلَا تُوَلُّوا الْفِرَارَ يَوْمَ الزَّحْفِ ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ خَاصَّةً الْيَهُودَ أَنْ لَا تَعْتَدُوا فِي السَّبْتِ " ، قَالَ : فَقَبَّلُوا يَدَهُ وَرِجْلَهُ ، فَقَالَا : نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ ، قَالَ : " فَمَا يَمْنَعُكُمْ أَنْ تَتَّبِعُونِي " ، قَالُوا : إِنَّ دَاوُدَ دَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنْ لَا يَزَالَ فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ نَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّا نَخَافُ إِنْ تَبِعْنَاكَ أَنْ تَقْتُلَنَا الْيَهُودُ , وفي الباب عن يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، وَابْنِ عُمَرَ ، وَكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated Safwan bin Assal:` "A Jew said to his companion: 'Accompany us to this Prophet.' So his companion said: 'Do not say: "Prophet". For if he hears you (say that) then he will be very happy.' So they went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to question him about nine clear signs. So he said to them: 'Do not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit unlawful intercourse, nor take a life which Allah has made prohibited prohibited, except for what is required (in the law), nor hasten to damage the reputation of one of power so that he will be killed, nor practice magic, nor consume Riba, nor falsely accuse the chaste woman, nor turn to flee on the day of the march, and for you Jews particularly, to not violate the Sabbath.'" He said: "So they kissed his hands and his feet, and they said: 'We bear witness that you are a Prophet.' So he (ﷺ) said: 'Then what prevents you from following me?' They said: 'Because Dawud supplicated to his Lord that his offspring never be devoid of Prophets and we feared that if we follow you then the Jews will kill us.'"
Hadith 3144
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، وَأَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَفْظُ يَزِيدَ وَالْمَعْنَى وَاحِدٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ، أَنَّ يَهُودِيَّيْنِ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ اذْهَبْ بِنَا إِلَى هَذَا النَّبِيِّ نَسْأَلُهُ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَقُلْ لَهُ نَبِيٌّ فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ سَمِعَنَا نَقُولُ نَبِيٌّ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْبَعَةُ أَعْيُنٍ ، فَأَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلَاهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى تِسْعَ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ سورة الإسراء آية 101 ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، وَلَا تَزْنُوا ، وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ، وَلَا تَسْرِقُوا ، وَلَا تَسْحَرُوا ، وَلَا تَمْشُوا بِبَرِيءٍ إِلَى سُلْطَانٍ فَيَقْتُلَهُ ، وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا الرِّبَا ، وَلَا تَقْذِفُوا مُحْصَنَةً ، وَلَا تَفِرُّوا مِنَ الزَّحْفِ شَكَّ شُعْبَةُ وَعَلَيْكُمْ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودَ خَاصَّةً أَنْ لَا تَعْدُوا فِي السَّبْتِ ، فَقَبَّلَا يَدَيْهِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ " ، وَقَالَا : نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ ، قَالَ : فَمَا يَمْنَعُكُمَا أَنْ تُسْلِمَا ؟ ، قَالَا : إِنَّ دَاوُدَ دَعَا اللَّهَ أَنْ لَا يَزَالَ فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ نَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّا نَخَافُ إِنْ أَسْلَمْنَا أَنْ تَقْتُلَنَا الْيَهُودُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated Safwan bin 'Assal Al-Muradi:` "A Jew said to his companion: 'Accompany us to this Prophet.' So his companion said: 'Do not say: "Prophet," for if he hears you calling him a Prophet then he will be happy.' So they went to the Prophet (ﷺ) to question him about Allah, the Most High, saying: And indeed we gave Musa nine clear signs (17:101). So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to them: 'Do not associate anything with Allah, nor commit unlawful intercourse, nor take a life which Allah has made prohibited, except for what is required (in the law), nor steal, nor practice magic, nor hasten to damage the reputation of an innocent person in front of a ruler, so that he will be killed, nor consume Riba, nor falsely accuse the chaste woman, nor turn to flee on the day of the march (i.e. flee from war).' - Shu'bah was in doubt - 'and for you Jews particularly, to not violate the Sabbath.'" He said: "So they kissed his hands and his feet and they said: 'We bear witness that you are a Prophet.' So he said: 'Then what prevents you from accepting Islam?' They said: 'Because Dawud supplicated to his Lord, that his offspring never be devoid of Prophets, and we feared that if we follow you then the Jews will kill us.'"
Hadith 3535
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، فَقَالَ : مَا جَاءَ بِكَ يَا زِرُّ ؟ فَقُلْتُ : ابْتِغَاءَ الْعِلْمِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَتَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِطَالِبِ الْعِلْمِ رِضًا بِمَا يَطْلُبُ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّهُ حَكَّ فِي صَدْرِي الْمَسْحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ بَعْدَ الْغَائِطِ وَالْبَوْلِ وَكُنْتَ امْرَأً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ هَلْ سَمِعْتَهُ يَذْكُرُ فِي ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، " كَانَ يَأْمُرُنَا إِذَا كُنَّا سَفَرًا أَوْ مُسَافِرِينَ أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ ، لَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ وَنَوْمٍ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) فَقُلْتُ : هَلْ سَمِعْتَهُ يَذْكُرُ فِي الْهَوَى شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقُلْتُ : هَلْ سَمِعْتَهُ يَذْكُرُ فِي الْهَوَى شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَهُ إِذْ نَادَاهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ بِصَوْتٍ لَهُ جَهْوَرِيٍّ ، يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، فَأَجَابَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوًا مِنْ صَوْتِهِ هَاؤُمُ ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ : وَيْحَكَ ، اغْضُضْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ فَإِنَّكَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ نُهِيتَ عَنْ هَذَا ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَا أَغْضُضُ ، قَالَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ : الْمَرْءُ يُحِبُّ الْقَوْمَ وَلَمَّا يَلْحَقْ بِهِمْ ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، فَمَا زَالَ يُحَدِّثُنَا حَتَّى ذَكَرَ بَابًا مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَغْرِبِ مَسِيرَةُ سَبْعِينَ عَامًا عَرْضُهُ ، أَوْ يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ فِي عَرْضِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ أَوْ سَبْعِينَ عَامًا ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : قِبَلَ الشَّامِ ، خَلَقَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ مَفْتُوحًا يَعْنِي لِلتَّوْبَةِ ، لَا يُغْلَقُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْهُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Zirr bin Hubaish said:` “I came to Safwan bin `Assal Al Muradi to ask him about wiping over the Khuff, so he said: ‘What has brought you, O Zirr?’ So I said: ‘The desire for knowledge.’ So he said: ‘Indeed, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, out of pleasure with what he is seeking.’ So I said: ‘Indeed there is some doubt in my chest concerning wiping over the Khuff after defecation and urination, and you were a man from the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ), so I came to you to ask you: Have you heard him (ﷺ) mention anything concerning that?’ He said: ‘Yes, he (ﷺ) used to order us, that when we were travelers’ - or - ‘in travel, to not remove our Khuff for three days and nights except, from sexual impurity, but not from defecation, urination, and sleep.’” He said: “Have you heard him (ﷺ) mention anything concerning love?” He said: “Yes. We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a journey when a Bedouin with a loud voice called upon him (saying): ‘O Muhammad!’ So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) responded to him with a voice similar to him (saying): ‘Come.’ So we said to him: ‘Lower your voice for you are with the Prophet (ﷺ), and you have been prohibited from this.’ He said: ‘By Allah, I will not lower (my voice).’ The Bedouin said: ‘A man loves a people but he is not with them (in terms of deeds)?’ He (ﷺ) said: ‘A man is with whomever he loves on the Day of Judgement.’” So he did not cease talking with us, until he mentioned a gate in the direction of the west with the width of seventy years journey - or a rider would travel its width - for forty or seventy years.” Sufyan (one of the narrators) said: “In the direction of Ash-Sham, Allah created it the Day He created the heavens and the earth, open - that is, for repentance. It shall not be locked until the sun rises through it.”
Hadith 3536
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ، فَقَالَ : مَا جَاءَ بِكَ ، قُلْتُ : ابْتِغَاءَ الْعِلْمِ ، قَالَ : " بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَضَعُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا لِطَالِبِ الْعِلْمِ رِضًا بِمَا يَفْعَلُ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) قَالَ : قُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّهُ حَاكَ قَالَ : قُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّهُ حَاكَ أَوْ قَالَ : حَكَّ فِي نَفْسِي شَيْءٌ مِنَ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، فَهَلْ حَفِظْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهِ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، كُنَّا إِذَا كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ أَوْ مُسَافِرِينَ أُمِرْنَا أَنْ لَا نَخْلَعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثًا إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ ، وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ وَنَوْمٍ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : فَهَلْ حَفِظْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْهَوَى شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : فَهَلْ حَفِظْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْهَوَى شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَنَادَاهُ رَجُلٌ كَانَ فِي آخِرِ الْقَوْمِ بِصَوْتٍ جَهْوَرِيٍّ أَعْرَابِيٌّ جِلْفٌ جَافٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الْقَوْمُ : مَهْ إِنَّكَ قَدْ نُهِيتَ عَنْ هَذَا ، فَأَجَابَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوًا مِنْ صَوْتِهِ هَاؤُمُ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : يُحِبُّ الْقَوْمَ وَلَمَّا يَلْحَقْ بِهِمْ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) قَالَ قَالَ زِرٌّ : فَمَا بَرِحَ يُحَدِّثُنِي حَتَّى حَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ جَعَلَ بِالْمَغْرِبِ بَابًا عَرْضُهُ مَسِيرَةُ سَبْعِينَ عَامًا لِلتَّوْبَةِ ، لَا يُغْلَقُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعِ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ ، وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : يَوْمَ يَأْتِي بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ لا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا سورة الأنعام آية 158 الْآيَةَ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Zirr bin Hubaish said:` “I came to Safwan bin `Assal Al-Muradi so he said to me: ‘What has brought you, O Zirr?’ So I said: ‘The desire for knowledge.’ So he said: ‘It has been conveyed to me that the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, out of pleasure with what he is doing.’” He said: “So I said to him: ‘Indeed there is something wavering’ - or - ‘some doubt in my chest concerning wiping over the Khuff after defecation. So have you retained anything from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) concerning that?’ He said: ‘Yes, when we were travelers, he (ﷺ) used to order us not to remove our Khuff for three days and nights, except from sexual impurity, but not from defecation, urination, and sleep.’” He said: “So I said: ‘So have you memorized anything from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) concerning love?’ He said: ‘Yes, we were in one of our journeys with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when a man, a harsh, foolish Bedouin, who had been at the end of the group, called him with a loud voice, saying: “O Muhammad! O Muhammad!” So the people said to him “Mah! Indeed, you have been prohibited from this.” So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) responded to him with similar to his voice: “Come.” So he said: “A man loves a people but he has not reached them?” He said: ‘So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A man is with whomever he loves.”’ Zirr said: “He did not cease reporting to me until he had reported that Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has appointed a gate in the west - its width is the distance of a seventy-year journey - for repentance: it shall not be locked until the sun rises from its direction, and that is the Statement of Allah, Blessed be He and Most High, of the Ayah: The Day some of the signs of your Lord come, no soul shall be benefited by its believing.”
