Hadith 3209
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ أَبِي بَزَّةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " نُهِينَا عَنْ صَيْدِ كَلْبِهِمْ ، وَطَائِرِهِمْ " ، يَعْنِي الْمَجُوسَ .
´It was narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:` “We were forbidden (to eat) the game caught by their dogs and birds – meaning the Zoroastrians.”
Hadith 3239
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْهَرَوِيُّ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُحَرِّمْ الضَّبَّ ، وَلَكِنْ قَذِرَهُ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَطَعَامُ عَامَّةِ الرِّعَاءِ ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيَنْفَعُ بِهِ غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ ، وَلَوْ كَانَ عِنْدِي لَأَكَلْتُهُ " .
It is narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not declare the dhab (monitor lizard) as forbidden, but he disliked it, and it is the food of common shepherds. Allah Almighty benefits many people through it, and if it were with me, I would certainly eat it.
Hadith 3239M
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ .
Imam Ibn Majah (may Allah have mercy on him) has also narrated from another chain of transmission a narration with the same meaning as the above-mentioned hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
