Hadith 198
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ : يَأْخُذُ الْجَبَّارُ سَمَاوَاتِهِ وَأَرْضَهُ بِيَدِهِ ، وَقَبَضَ بِيَدِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُهَا وَيَبْسُطُهَا ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " أَنَا الْجَبَّارُ أَيْنَ الْجَبَّارُونَ أَيْنَ الْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : وَيَتَمَيَّلُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، حَتَّى نَظَرْتُ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَتَحَرَّكُ مِنْ أَسْفَلِ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ ، حَتَّى إِنِّي أَقُولُ أَسَاقِطٌ هُوَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said:` "I heard the Messenger of Allah say, when he was on the pulpit: 'The Compeller will seize the heavens and the earth in His Hand' and he clenched his fist and began to open and close it. Then He will say: "I am the Compeller! Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?" He said, the Messenger of Allah was turning to his right and to his left, until he saw the pulpit moving from below and I thought: 'What if it falls with the Messenger of Allah on it?'"
Hadith 238
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذَا الْخَيْرَ خَزَائِنُ ، وَلِتِلْكَ الْخَزَائِنِ مَفَاتِيحُ ، فَطُوبَى لِعَبْدٍ جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ مِفْتَاحًا لِلْخَيْرِ مِغْلَاقًا لِلشَّرِّ ، وَوَيْلٌ لِعَبْدٍ جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ مِفْتَاحًا لَلشَّرِّ مِغْلَاقًا لِلْخَيْرِ " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa'd that:` The Messenger of Allah said: "This goodness contains many treasures, and for those there are keys. So glad tidings to the one whom Allah makes a key to good and a lock for evil, and woe to the one whom Allah makes a key to evil and a lock to good."
Hadith 780
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحُلَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الشِّيرَازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِيَبْشَرِ الْمَشَّاءُونَ فِي الظُّلَمِ إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ بِنُورٍ تَامٍّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Give glad tidings, to those who walk to the mosques in the dark, of perfect light on the Day of Resurrection.'"
Hadith 981
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ أَخُو فُلَيْحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ سَهْلُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيُّ يُقَدِّمُ فِتْيَانَ قَوْمِهِ يُصَلُّونَ بِهِمْ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : تَفْعَلُ وَلَكَ مِنَ الْقِدَمِ مَا لَكَ ، قَالَ : إِنِّي سَمِعْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " الْإِمَامُ ضَامِنٌ ، فَإِنْ أَحْسَنَ فَلَهُ وَلَهُمْ ، وَإِنْ أَسَاءَ ، يَعْنِي : فَعَلَيْهِ ، وَلَا عَلَيْهِمْ " .
´Abu Hazim said:` “Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi used to give preference to the young to lead his people in prayer. It was said to him: “Do you do that, when you have such seniority (in Islam)?” He said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘The Imam is responsible. If he does well, then he will have the reward and so will they, but if he does badly, then that will be counted against him but not against them.’”
Hadith 1035
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، وَسَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، أَنَّ ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " التَّسْبِيحُ لِلرِّجَالِ ، وَالتَّصْفِيقُ لِلنِّسَاءِ " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The Tasbih is for men and clapping is for women.”
Hadith 1099
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : " مَا كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَلَا نَتَغَدَّى إِلَّا بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d said:` “We did not take a Qailulah nor eat Ghada’ until after Friday (prayer).”*
Hadith 1416
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : اخْتَلَفَ النَّاسُ فِي مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ هُوَ ؟ فَأَتَوْا سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ فَسَأَلُوهُ : فَقَالَ : مَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي ، " هُوَ مِنْ أَثْلِ الغَابَةِ ، عَمِلَهُ فُلَانٌ مَوْلَى فُلَانَةَ نَجَّارٌ ، فَجَاءَ بِهِ ، فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ حِينَمَا وُضِعَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، وَقَامَ النَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ ، فَقَرَأَ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ، فَرَجَعَ الْقَهْقَرَى حَتَّى سَجَدَ بِالْأَرْضِ ، ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَقَرَأَ ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَقَامَ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ الْقَهْقَرَى حَتَّى سَجَدَ بِالْأَرْضِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hazim said:` “The people differed concerning the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and what it was made of. So they came to Sahl bin Sa’d and asked him. He said: ‘There is no one left who knows more about that than I. It is made of tamarisk (a type of tree) from Ghabah. It was made by so-and-so, the freed slave of so- and-so (a woman), (who was) a carpenter. He brought it and he (the Prophet (ﷺ)) stood on it when it was put in position. He faced the Qiblah and the people stood behind him. He recited Qur’an, then bowed and raised his head, then he moved backwards until he prostrated on the ground, then he went back to the pulpit and recited Qur’an, then bowed and raised his head, then he moved backwards until he prostrated on the ground.”
Hadith 1640
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ بَابًا ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : الرَّيَّانُ يُدْعَى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، يُقَالُ : أَيْنَ الصَّائِمُونَ ؟ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنَ الصَّائِمِينَ دَخَلَهُ ، وَمَنْ دَخَلَهُ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ أَبَدًا " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “In Paradise there is a gate called Rayyan. On the Day of Resurrection the call will go out saying: ‘Where are those who used to fast?’ Whoever is among those who used to fast will enter it, and whoever enters it will never experience thirst again.”
Hadith 1697
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا عَجَّلُوا الْإِفْطَارَ " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The people will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten to break their fast.”
Hadith 1889
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعْطِهَا وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ " ، فَقَالَ : لَيْسَ مَعِي ، قَالَ : " قَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَهَا عَلَى مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ " .
´It was narrated that:` Sahl bin Sa'd said: “A woman came to the Prophet and he said: 'Who will marry her ?' A man said: 'I will.' The Prophet said: 'Give her something, even if it is an iron ring.' He said: 'I do not have one.' He said: 'I marry her to you for what you know of the Quran.'”
Hadith 1912
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ : دَعَا أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيُّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى عُرْسِهِ ، فَكَانَتْ خَادِمَهُمُ الْعَرُوسُ ، قَالَتْ : " تَدْرِي مَا سَقَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ، قَالَتْ : أَنْقَعْتُ تَمَرَاتٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ صَفَّيْتُهُنَّ فَأَسْقَيْتُهُنَّ إِيَّاهُ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi said:` “Abu Usaid As-Sa'idi invited the Messenger of Allah to his wedding, and the bride herself served them. She said: 'Do you know what I gave the Messenger of Allah to drink? I had soaked some dates the night before, then in the morning I strained them and gave him that water to drink.' ”
Hadith 1994
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَ فَفِي الْفَرَسِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ وَالْمَسْكَنِ يَعْنِي الشُّؤْمَ " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa'd that:` the Messenger of Allah said: "If it exists, it is in three things: a horse, and woman and a house," meaning omens.
Hadith 2756
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ مَنْظُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " غَدْوَةٌ أَوْ رَوْحَةٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Going out in the morning in the cause of Allah, or in the evening, is better than the world and what is in it.”
Hadith 2921
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَزِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ مُلَبٍّ يُلَبِّي ، إِلَّا لَبَّى مَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَشِمَالِهِ ، مِنْ حَجَرٍ أَوْ شَجَرٍ أَوْ مَدَرٍ ، حَتَّى تَنْقَطِعَ الْأَرْضُ مِنْ هَهُنَا ، وَهَهُنَا " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “There is no (pilgrim) who recites the Talbiyah but that which is to his right and left also recites it, rocks and trees and hills, to the farthest ends of the earth in each direction, from here and from there.”
Hadith 3326
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , وَعَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ , عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَأْكُلُ الرُّطَبَ بِالْبِطِّيخِ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to eat dates with melon.”
Hadith 3335
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , وَسُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ النَّقِيَّ ؟ قَالَ : " مَا رَأَيْتُ النَّقِيَّ حَتَّى قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " , فَقُلْتُ : فَهَلْ كَانَ لَهُمْ مَنَاخِلُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " مَا رَأَيْتُ مُنْخُلًا , حَتَّى قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " , قُلْتُ : فَكَيْفَ كُنْتُمْ تَأْكُلُونَ الشَّعِيرَ غَيْرَ مَنْخُولٍ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ , كُنَّا نَنْفُخُهُ فَيَطِيرُ مِنْهُ مَا طَارَ , وَمَا بَقِيَ ثَرَّيْنَاهُ " .
´‘Abdul-‘Aziz bin Abu Hazim said:` My father told me: I asked Sahl bin Sa’d: “Did you ever see dough made from well-sifted flour?” He said: “I never saw dough made from well-sifted flour until the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed away.” I said: “Did they have sieves at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?” He said: “I never saw a sieve until the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed away.” I said: “How did you eat barley that was not sifted?” He said: “We used to blow on it, and whatever flew away, flew away, and whatever was left we made dough with it.”
Hadith 3392
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ مَنْظُورٍ , عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ وَمَا أَسْكَرَ كَثِيرُه ، فَقَلِيلُهُ حَرَامٌ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Every intoxicant is unlawful and whatever causes intoxication in large amounts, a small amount of it is (also) unlawful.”
Hadith 3464
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ , قَالَ : " جُرِحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ , وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ , وَهُشِمَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ , فَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تَغْسِلُ الدَّمَ عَنْهُ , وَعَلِيٌّ يَسْكِبُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ بِالْمِجَنِّ , فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ فَاطِمَةُ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَزِيدُ الدَّمَ إِلَّا كَثْرَةً , أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةَ حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهَا حَتَّى إِذَا صَارَ رَمَادًا أَلْزَمَتْهُ الْجُرْحَ , فَاسْتَمْسَكَ الدَّمُ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was wounded on the Day of Uhud. His molar was broken and his helmet was crushed on his head. Fatimah was washing the blood from him and ‘Ali was pouring water on him from a shield. When Fatimah realized that the water was only making the bleeding worse, she took a piece of a mat and burnt it, and when it had turned to ashes, she applied it to the wound to stop the bleeding.
Hadith 3555
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ , " أَنَّ امْرَأَةً جَاءَتْ إِلى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِبُرْدَةٍ , قَالَ : وَمَا الْبُرْدَةُ ؟ قَالَ : الشَّمْلَةُ , قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , نَسَجْتُ هَذِهِ بِيَدِي لِأَكْسُوَكَهَا ، فَأَخَذَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُحْتَاجًا إِلَيْهَا , فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فِيهَا , وَإِنَّهَا لَإِزَارُهُ فَجَاءَ فُلَانُ بْنُ فُلَانٍ رَجُلٌ سَمَّاهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , مَا أَحْسَنَ هَذِهِ الْبُرْدَةَ اكْسُنِيهَا , قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " , فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ طَوَاهَا وَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا إِلَيْهِ , فَقَالَ لَهُ الْقَوْمُ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَحْسَنْتَ كُسِيَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُحْتَاجًا إِلَيْهَا , ثُمَّ سَأَلْتَهُ إِيَّاهَا وَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَرُدُّ سَائِلًا , فَقَالَ : إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا سَأَلْتُهُ إِيَّاهَا لِأَلْبَسَهَا , وَلَكِنْ سَأَلْتُهُ إِيَّاهَا لِتَكُونَ كَفَنِي , فَقَالَ سَهْلٌ : فَكَانَتْ كَفَنَهُ يَوْمَ مَاتَ .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with a woven sheet – he said:` * “What type of woven sheet?” He said: “A Shamlah.” She said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have woven this with my own hands for you to wear.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took it, since he needed it. He came out to us wearing it as a lower wrap. So-and-so the son of so-and-so.” – a man whose name he told that day – said: “O Messenger of Allah, how beautiful this sheet is! Let me wear it.” He said: “Yes.” When he went inside he folded it up and sent it to him. The people said to him: “By Allah, you have not done well. The Prophet (ﷺ) wore it because he needed it, then you asked for it, and you knew that he would not refuse anyone who asked him for something.” He said: “By Allah, I did not ask for it so that I could wear it, rather I asked for it so that it could be my shroud.” Sahl said: “And it became his shroud the day he died.”
Hadith 3957
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ حَزْمٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " كَيْفَ بِكُمْ وَبِزَمَانٍ يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ , يُغَرْبَلُ النَّاسُ فِيهِ غَرْبَلَةً , وَتَبْقَى حُثَالَةٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَدْ مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ , فَاخْتَلَفُوا وَكَانُوا هَكَذَا " وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ , قَالُوا : كَيْفَ بِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ , قَالَ : " تَأْخُذُونَ بِمَا تَعْرِفُونَ وَتَدَعُونَ مَا تُنْكِرُونَ , وَتُقْبِلُونَ عَلَى خَاصَّتِكُمْ وَتَذَرُونَ أَمْرَ عَوَامِّكُمْ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “How will you be at a time that will soon come, when the good people will pass away and only the worst ones will be left, who will break their promises and betray their trusts, and they will differ while they were previously together like this,” – and he interlaced his fingers. They said: “What should we do, O Messenger of Allah, when that comes to pass?” He said: “Follow that which you know is true, and leave that which you dislike. Take care of your own affairs and turn away from the common folk.”
Hadith 3977
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ بَعَجَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " خَيْرُ مَعَايِشِ النَّاسِ لَهُمْ , رَجُلٌ مُمْسِكٌ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ , وَيَطِيرُ عَلَى مَتْنِهِ , كُلَّمَا سَمِعَ هَيْعَةً أَوْ فَزْعَةً طَارَ عَلَيْهِ إِلَيْهَا , يَبْتَغِي الْمَوْتَ أَوِ الْقَتْلَ , مَظَانَّهُ , وَرَجُلٌ فِي غُنَيْمَةٍ , فِي رَأْسِ شَعَفَةٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشِّعَافِ , أَوْ بَطْنِ وَادٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ , يُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ , وَيُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ , وَيَعْبُدُ رَبَّهُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْيَقِينُ , لَيْسَ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِلَّا فِي خَيْرٍ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The best lifestyle is that of a man who holds onto the reins of his horse for the sake of Allah, riding on its back. Every time he hears a commotion he rushes towards it, seeking death wherever he thinks he can find it; and a man who tends sheep at the top of one of these peaks, or in the bottom of one of these valleys, establishing the prayer, paying the charity, and worshipping his Lord until the inevitable (death) comes to him and there is nothing between him and the people except good.”
Hadith 4060
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُصْعَبٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ , عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ أُمَّتِي , خَسْفٌ وَمَسْخٌ وَقَذْفٌ " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “At the end of my nation there will be the earth collapsing, transformations, and Qadhf.”
Hadith 4102
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ , حَدَّثَنَا شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ , حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْقُرَشِيُّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ , قَالَ : أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ, فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , دُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ إِذَا أَنَا عَمِلْتُهُ أَحَبَّنِي اللَّهُ , وَأَحَبَّنِي النَّاسُ , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ازْهَدْ فِي الدُّنْيَا يُحِبَّكَ اللَّهُ , وَازْهَدْ فِيمَا فِي أَيْدِي النَّاسِ يُحِبُّوكَ " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi said:` “A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, show me a deed which, if I do it, Allah will love me and people will love me. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Be indifferent towards this world, and Allah will love you. Be indifferent to what is in people’s hands, and they will love you.”
Hadith 4110
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ , وَمُحَمَّدٌ الصَّبَّاحُ , قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ مَنْظُورٍ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ , فَإِذَا هُوَ بِشَاةٍ مَيِّتَةٍ شَائِلَةٍ بِرِجْلِهَا , فَقَالَ : " أَتُرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَيِّنَةً عَلَى صَاحِبِهَا , فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ , لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى صَاحِبِهَا , وَلَوْ كَانَتِ الدُّنْيَا تَزِنُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ جَنَاحَ بَعُوضَةٍ , مَا سَقَى كَافِرًا مِنْهَا قَطْرَةً أَبَدًا " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d said:` “We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in Dhul-Hulaifah, when we saw a dead sheep lifting its leg (because of bloating). He said: ‘Don’t you think this is worthless to its owner? By the One in Whose hand is my soul, this world is more worthless to Allah than this (dead sheep) is to its owner. If this world was worth the wing of a mosquito to Allah, the disbeliever would not have a drop to drink from it.’”
Hadith 4120
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ , قَالَ : مَرَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ , فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا تَقُولُونَ فِي هَذَا الرَّجُلِ ؟ " , قَالُوا : رَأْيَكَ فِي هَذَا , نَقُولُ : هَذَا مِنْ أَشْرَفِ النَّاسِ , هَذَا حَرِيٌّ إِنْ خَطَبَ أَنْ يُخَطَّبَ , وَإِنْ شَفَعَ أَنْ يُشَفَّعَ , وَإِنْ قَالَ , أَنْ يُسْمَعَ لِقَوْلِهِ , فَسَكَتَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ , فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا تَقُولُونَ فِي هَذَا " , قَالُوا : نَقُولُ وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : هَذَا مِنْ فُقَرَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ , هَذَا حَرِيٌّ إِنْ خَطَبَ لَمْ يُنْكَحْ , وَإِنْ شَفَعَ لَا يُشَفَّعْ , وَإِنْ قَالَ لَا يُسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِ , فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَهَذَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ مِلْءِ الْأَرْضِ مِثْلَ هَذَا " .
´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi said:` “A man passed by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and the Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘What do you say about this man?’ They said: ‘We agree with your opinion concerning him. We say: He is one of the noblest of people. If he proposes marriage, his proposal deserves to be accepted; and if he intercedes, his intercession deserves to be accepted; and if he speaks, he deserves to be listened to.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) remained silent, and another man passed by. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘What do you think about this man?’ We said: ‘By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, this is one of the poor Muslims. If he proposes marriage, he does not deserve to get married; and if he intercedes, his intercession does not deserve to be accepted; and if he speaks, he does not deserve to be listened to.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘This one is better than an earthful of (men like) the other man.’”
Hadith 4192
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ , عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّهُ " لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ , وَبَيْنَ أَنْ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ , يُعَاتِبُهُمُ اللَّهُ بِهَا , إِلَّا أَرْبَعُ سِنِينَ : وَلا يَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ سورة الحديد آية 16 .
´‘Amir bin ‘Abdullah bin Zubair narrated that his father told him that there was no more than four years between their becoming Muslim and the revelation of this Verse, by which Allah reprimanded them:` “Lest they become as those who received the Scripture before, and the term was prolonged for them and so their hearts were hardened? And many of them were rebellious.” [57:16]
Hadith 4275
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ , يَقُولُ : " يَأْخُذُ الْجَبَّارُ سَمَاوَاتِهِ وَأَرَضِيهِ بِيَدِهِ , وَقَبَضَ يَدَهُ فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُهَا وَيَبْسُطُهَا , ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : أَنَا الْجَبَّارُ , أَنَا الْمَلِكُ , أَيْنَ الْجَبَّارُونَ ؟ أَيْنَ الْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ ؟ " , قَالَ : وَيَتَمَايَلُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ , حَتَّى نَظَرْتُ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَتَحَرَّكُ مِنْ أَسْفَلِ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ , حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَقُولُ , أَسَاقِطٌ هُوَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said:` “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say on the pulpit: ‘The Compeller (Al-Jabbar) will seize His heavens and His earths in His Hand’ – and he clenched his hand and started to open and close it – ‘Then He will say: “I am the Compeller, I am the King. Where are the tyrants? Where are the arrogant?” And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was leaning to his right and his left, until I could see the pulpit shaking at the bottom, and I thought that it would fall along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).”
Hadith 4330
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ مَنْظُورٍ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ , عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَوْضِعُ سَوْطٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ , خَيْرٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا " .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “A place the size of a whip in Paradise is better than this world and everything in it.”
