Hadith 262
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، وَوَكِيعٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَي وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لَهُ : قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : أَجَلْ لَقَدْ " نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ لِغَائِطٍ ، أَوْ بَوْلٍ ، أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ ، أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ ، أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ بِعَظْمٍ " .
Salman reported that it was said to him: Your Apostle (ﷺ) teaches you about everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes, he has forbidden us to face the Qibla at the time of excretion or urination, or cleansing with right hand or with less than three pebbles, or with dung or bone.
Hadith 262
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، وَمَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لَنَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ : " إِنِّي أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى يُعَلِّمَكُمُ الْخِرَاءَةَ ، فَقَالَ : أَجَلْ إِنَّهُ نَهَانَا أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِيَمِينِهِ ، أَوْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، وَنَهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالْعِظَامِ ، وَقَالَ : لَا يَسْتَنْجِي أَحَدُكُمْ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ " .
Salman said that (one among) the polytheists remarked: I see that your friend even teaches you about the excrement. He replied; Yes, he has in fact forbidden us that anyone amongst us should cleanse himself with his right hand, or face the Qibla. He has forbidden the use of dung or bone for it, and he has also instructed us not to use less than three pebbles (for this purpose).
Hadith 1913
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بَهْرَامٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ صِيَامِ شَهْرٍ وَقِيَامِهِ ، وَإِنْ مَاتَ جَرَى عَلَيْهِ عَمَلُهُ الَّذِي كَانَ يَعْمَلُهُ ، وَأُجْرِيَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقُهُ وَأَمِنَ الْفَتَّانَ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Salman who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Keeping watch for a day and a night is better (in point of reward) than fasting for a whole month and standing in prayer every night. If a person dies (while, performing this duty), his (meritorious) activity will continue and he will go on receiving his reward for it perpetually and will be saved from the torture of the grave.
Hadith 1913
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى .
This tradition has been handed down on the authority of Salman al-Khair through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2451
حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الْقَيْسِيُّ كلاهما ، عَنْ الْمُعْتَمِرِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ حَمَّادٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَكُونَنَّ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ السُّوقَ ، وَلَا آخِرَ مَنْ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا ، فَإِنَّهَا مَعْرَكَةُ الشَّيْطَانِ وَبِهَا يَنْصِبُ رَايَتَهُ ، قَالَ : وَأُنْبِئْتُ أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ، أَتَى نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَعِنْدَهُ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ يَتَحَدَّثُ ثُمَّ قَامَ ، فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، مَنْ هَذَا ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ ؟ قَالَتْ : هَذَا دِحْيَةُ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ : ايْمُ اللَّهِ مَا حَسِبْتُهُ إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ ، حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ خُطْبَةَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخْبِرُ خَبَرَنَا ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي عُثْمَانَ : مِمَّنْ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : مِنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ " .
Salman reported: In case it lies in your power don't be one to enter the bazar first and the last to get out of that because there is a bustle and the standard of Satan is set there. He said: I was informed that Gabriel (ؑ) (RA) came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and there was with him Umm Salamah and he began to talk with him. He then stood up, whereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said to Umm Salamahh (RA) : (Do you know) who was he and what did he say? She said: He was Dihya (Kalbi). He reported Umm Salamah having said: By Allah, I did not deem him but only he (Dihya) until I heard the address of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) informing him about us. He (the narrator) said: I said to 'Uthman: From whom did you hear it? He said: From Usama bin Zaid.
Hadith 2753
حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيُّ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مِائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ ، فَمِنْهَا رَحْمَةٌ بِهَا يَتَرَاحَمُ الْخَلْقُ بَيْنَهُمْ ، وَتِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " ،
Salman Farisi reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Verily, there are one hundred (parts of) mercy for Allah, and it is one part of this mercy by virtue of which there is mutual love between the people and ninety-nine reserved for the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2753
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ مِائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ ، كُلُّ رَحْمَةٍ طِبَاقَ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ ، فَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا فِي الْأَرْضِ رَحْمَةً ، فَبِهَا تَعْطِفُ الْوَالِدَةُ عَلَى وَلَدِهَا وَالْوَحْشُ وَالطَّيْرُ بَعْضُهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ ، فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ أَكْمَلَهَا بِهَذِهِ الرَّحْمَةِ " .
Salman reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Verily, Allah created, on the same very day when He created the heavens and the earth, one hundred parts of mercy. Every part of mercy is coextensive with the space between the heavens and the earth and He out of this mercy endowed one part to the earth and it is because of this that the mother shows affection to her child and even the beasts and birds show kindness to one another and when there would be the Day of Resurrection, Allah would make full use of Mercy.
