Hadith 5
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِى إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ أَبِى الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : بِحَسْبِ الْمَرْءِ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ ، أَنْ يُحَدِّثَ بِكُلِّ مَا سَمِعَ .
Muhammad bin ul-Muthannā narrated to us, he said Abd ur-Rahman narrated to us, he said Sufyān narrated to us, on authority of Abī Ishāq, on authority of Abīl-Ahwas, on authority of Abd Illah, he said: ‘It is enough of a lie for a man that he narrates everything he hears’.
Hadith 13
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي التَّمِيمِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : دُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ أَعْمَلُهُ يُدْنِينِي مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَيُبَاعِدُنِي مِنَ النَّارِ ، قَالَ : " تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ ، لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا ، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ ، وَتَصِلُ ذَا رَحِمِكَ " ، فَلَمَّا أَدْبَرَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنْ تَمَسَّكَ بِمَا أُمِرَ بِهِ ، دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ " ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ : " إِنْ تَمَسَّكَ بِهِ " .
It is reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that a bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: Messenger of Allah, direct me to a deed by which I may be entitled to enter Paradise. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet (صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)) remarked: You worship Allah and never associate anything with Him, establish the obligatory prayer, and pay the Zakat which is incumbent upon you, and observe the fast of Ramadan. He (the bedouin) said: By Him in Whose hand is my life, I will never add anything to it, nor will I diminish anything from it. When he (the bedouin) turned his back, the Prophet (ﷺ) said: He who is pleased to see a man from the dwellers of Paradise should catch a glimpse of him.
Hadith 30
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ : عُفَيْرٌ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : يَا مُعَاذُ ، تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ، وَمَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ حَقَّ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ، أَنْ يَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ، وَحَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَ مَنْ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَلَا أُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ ؟ قَالَ : لَا تُبَشِّرْهُمْ فَيَتَّكِلُوا .
It is narrated on the authority of Mu'adh bin Jabal that he observed: I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on an ass known as 'Ufair. He (Mu'adh) observed: He (the Holy Prophet) said: Mu'adh, do you know what right has Allah over His bondsmen and what right have His bondsmen over Him? Mu'adh added: I replied: Allah and his Messenger know best. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) remarked: The right of Allah over His bondsmen is that they should worship Allah and should not associate anything with Him, and the right of His bondsmen over Allah, Glorious and Sublime, is that He does not punish him who associates not anything with Him. He (Mu'adh) added: I said to the Messenger of Allah: Should I then give the tidings to the people? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do not tell them this good news, for they would trust in it alone.
Hadith 47
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ ، فَلَا يُؤْذِي جَارَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ " .
It is reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: He who believes in Allah and the Last Day does not harm is neighbour, and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day shows hospitality to his guest and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day speaks good or remains silent.
Hadith 139
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَهَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، وَأَبُو عاصم الحنفي وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ ، وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ ، إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ هَذَا قَدْ غَلَبَنِي عَلَى أَرْضٍ لِي ، كَانَتْ لِأَبِي ، فَقَالَ الْكِنْدِيُّ : هِيَ أَرْضِي فِي يَدِي ، أَزْرَعُهَا لَيْسَ لَهُ فِيهَا حَقٌّ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْحَضْرَمِيِّ : أَلَكَ بَيِّنَةٌ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : فَلَكَ يَمِينُهُ ؟ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ فَاجِرٌ لَا يُبَالِي عَلَى مَا حَلَفَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَلَيْسَ يَتَوَرَّعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ، فَقَالَ : لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنْهُ إِلَّا ذَلِك ؟ فَانْطَلَقَ لِيَحْلِفَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا أَدْبَرَ : " أَمَا لَئِنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى مَالِهِ لِيَأْكُلَهُ ظُلْمًا ، لَيَلْقَيَنَّ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضٌ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Wa'il that there came a person from Hadramaut and another one from Kinda to the Apostle (ﷺ) . One who had come from Hadramaut said: Messenger of Allah, only this man has appropriated my land which belonged to my father. The one who had came from Kinda contended. This is my land and is in my possession: I cultivate it. There is no right for him in it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to the Hadramite: Have you any evidence (to support you)? He replied in the negative. He (the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) ) said: Then your case is to be decided on his oath. He (the Hadramite) said: Messenger of Allah, he is a liar and cares not what he swears and has no regard for anything. Upon this he (the Messenger of Allah) (ﷺ) remarked: For you then there is no other help to it. He (the man from Kinda) set out to take an oath. When he turned his back the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed: If he took an oath on his property with a view to usurping it, he would certainly meet his Lord in a state that He would turn away from him.
Hadith 221
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا رُبُعَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ : فَكَبَّرْنَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ تَكُونُوا ثُلُثَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ : فَكَبَّرْنَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ تَكُونُوا شَطْرَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَسَأُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، مَا الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِي الْكُفَّارِ ، إِلَّا كَشَعْرَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ فِي ثَوْرٍ أَسْوَدَ أَوْ كَشَعْرَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ فِي ثَوْرٍ أَبْيَضَ " .
'Abdullah bin Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) addressing us said: Aren't you pleased that you should constitute one-fourth of the inhabitants of Paradise? He (the narrator) said: We glorified (our Lord, i. e. we called aloud Allah-o Akbar, Allah is the Greatest). He, then, again said: Aren't you pleased that you should constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Paradise? He (the narrator) said: We glorified (our Lord) and he (the Holy Prophet) then again said: I hope that you would constitute half of the inhabitants of Paradise and I shall explain to you its (reason). The believers among the unbelievers would not be more than a white hair on (the body of a) black ox or a black hair on (the body of a) white ox.
Hadith 268
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " إِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيُحِبُّ التَّيَمُّنَ فِي طُهُورِهِ إِذَا تَطَهَّرَ ، وَفِي تَرَجُّلِهِ إِذَا تَرَجَّلَ ، وَفِي انْتِعَالِهِ إِذَا انْتَعَلَ " .
'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) loved to start from the right-hand side for performing ablution, for combing (the hair) and wearing the shoes.
Hadith 274
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَا أَنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، إِذْ نَزَلَ ، فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ إِدَاوَةٍ كَانَتْ مَعِي ، فَتَوَضَّأَ ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ " .
Mughira bin Shu'bah reported: I was with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) one night. He came down (from the ride) and relieved himself. He then came and I poured water upon him from the jar that I carried with me. He performed ablution and wiped over his socks
Hadith 290
وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَوَّاسٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ شَبِيبِ بْنِ غَرْقَدَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ نَازِلًا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ، فَاحْتَلَمْتُ فِي ثَوْبَيَّ ، فَغَمَسْتُهُمَا فِي الْمَاءِ ، فَرَأَتْنِي جَارِيَةٌ لِعَائِشَةَ ، فَأَخْبَرَتْهَا ، فَبَعَثَتْ إِلَيَّ عَائِشَةُ ، فَقَالَتْ : مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ بِثَوْبَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : رَأَيْتُ مَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ فِي مَنَامِهِ ، قَالَتْ : هَلْ رَأَيْتَ فِيهِمَا شَيْئًا ؟ قُلْتُ : لَا ، قَالَتْ : فَلَوْ رَأَيْتَ شَيْئًا غَسَلْتَهُ ، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي وَإِنِّي لَأَحُكُّهُ مِنْ ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَابِسًا بِظُفُرِي .
'Abdullah bin Shihab al-Khaulani reported: I stayed in the house of 'A'isha and had a wet dream (and perceived its effect on my garment), so (in the morning) I dipped both (the clothes) in water. This (act of mine) was watched by a maid-servant of A'isha and she informed her. She (Hadrat A'isha) sent me a message: What prompted you to act like this with your clothes? He (the narrator) said: I told that I saw in a dream what a sleeper sees. She said: Did you find (any mark of the fluid) on your clothes? I said: No. She said: Had you found anything you should have washed it. Incase I found that (semen) on the garment of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) dried up, I scraped it off with my nails.
Hadith 327
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ صُرَدٍ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، قَالَ : تَمَارَوْا فِي الْغُسْلِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ : أَمَّا أَنَا ، فَإِنِّي أَغْسِلُ رَأْسِي كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَّا أَنَا ، فَإِنِّي أُفِيضُ عَلَى رَأْسِي ثَلَاثَ أَكُفٍّ " .
Jubair bin Mut'im reported: The people contended amongst themselves in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with regard to bathing. Some of them said: We wash our heads like this and this. Upon this the Messenger (ﷺ) said: As for me I pour three handfuls of water upon my head.
Hadith 332
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ شَكَلٍ ، عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَيْفَ تَغْتَسِلُ إِحْدَانَا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ مِنَ الْحَيْضِ ؟ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ : غُسْلَ الْجَنَابَةِ .
'A'isha reported: Asma' bin Shakal came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: Messenger of Allah, how should one amongst us take a bath after the menstruation, and the rest of the hadith is the same and there is no mention of bathing because of sexual intercourse.
Hadith 436
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
Abu 'Awana reported this hadith with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 499
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَال الآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وَضَعَ أَحَدُكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، مِثْلَ مُؤْخِرَةِ الرَّحْلِ ، فَلْيُصَلِّ ، وَلَا يُبَالِ مَنْ مَرَّ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ " .
Musa bin Talha reported it on the authority of his father: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When one of you places in front of him something such as the back of a saddle, he should pray without caring who passes on the other side of it.
Hadith 525
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ شَهْرًا ، حَتَّى نَزَلَتِ الآيَةُ الَّتِي فِي الْبَقَرَةِ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُ سورة البقرة آية 144 ، فَنَزَلَتْ بَعْدَمَا صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ، فَانْطَلَقَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، فَمَرَّ بِنَاسٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَار وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ ، فَحَدَّثَهُمْ ، فَوَلَّوْا وُجُوهَهُمْ قِبَلَ الْبَيْتِ .
Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA) reported: I said prayer with the Apostle (ﷺ) turning towards Bait-ul-Maqdis for sixteen months till this verse of Surah Baqarah was revealed:" And wherever you are turn your faces towards it" (ii. 144). This verse was revealed when the Apostle (ﷺ) had said prayer. A person amongst his people passed by the people of Ansar as they were engaged in prayer. He narrated to them (this command of Allah) and they turned their faces towards the Ka’bah.
Hadith 535
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، إِلَى قَوْلِهِ : فَنُهِينَا عَنْهُ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُر : مَا بَعْدَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated by Abu Ya'fur with the same chain of transmitters up to these words: We have been forbidden from it and no mention of that has been made what follows it.
Hadith 586
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، وَفِيهِ قَالَتْ : وَمَا صَلَّى صَلَاةً بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، إِلَّا سَمِعْتُهُ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ .
Masruq reported this hadith on the authority of 'A'isha who said: Never did he (the Holy Prophet) say prayer after this in which I did not hear him seeking refuge from the torment of the grave.
Hadith 619
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ خَبَّابٍ ، قَالَ : " شَكَوْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةَ فِي الرَّمْضَاءِ ، فَلَمْ يُشْكِنَا " .
Khabbab reported: We complained to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (the difficulty of) saying prayer on the intensely heated (ground or sand), but he paid no heed to our complaint.
Hadith 643
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " يُؤَخِّرُ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ الآخِرَةِ " .
Jabir bin ahadeeth reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) postponed the last 'Isha' prayer.
Hadith 655
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا قُعُودًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ مَعَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، فَأَذَّنَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ يَمْشِي ، فَأَتْبَعَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ بَصَرَهُ ، حَتَّى خَرَجَ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : أَمَّا هَذَا ، فَقَدْ عَصَى أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Abu Sha'tha' reported: While we were sitting with Abu Hurairah (RA) in a mosque a man went out of the mosque after the call to prayer had been announced. (A man stood up in the mosque and set off.) Abu Hurairah (RA) 's eyes followed him till he went out of the mosque. Upon this Abu Hurairah (RA) said: This man has disobeyed Abu'l- Qasim (Muhammad) (ﷺ) .
Hadith 670
وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، وَلَمْ يَقُولَا : حَسَنًا .
This hadith has been narrated by Simak with the same chain of transmitters, but no mention has been made of "enough".
Hadith 696
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِنًى آمَنَ مَا كَانَ النَّاسُ ، وَأَكْثَرَهُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
Haritha bin Wahb reported: I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) two rak'abs and most of them offered two rak'ahs only in Mina, while the people felt secure.
Hadith 741
حَدَّثَنِي هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ عَمَلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : كَانَ يُحِبُّ الدَّائِمَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَيَّ حِينٍ كَانَ يُصَلِّي ؟ فَقَالَتْ : " كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ ، قَامَ فَصَلَّى " .
Masruq is reported to have asked 'A'isha about the action (most pleasing to) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . She said: He (the Holy Prophet) loved (that action) which one keeps on doing regularly. I said (to 'A'isha): When did he pray (at night)? She replied: When he heard the cock crow, he got up and observed prayer.
Hadith 763
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَهَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رِشْدِينٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ : بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ : غَسْلَ الْوَجْهِ وَالْكَفَّيْنِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ فَحَلَّ شِنَاقَهَا فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا بَيْنَ الْوُضُوءَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى فِرَاشَهُ فَنَامَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ قَوْمَةً أُخْرَى فَأَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ فَحَلَّ شِنَاقَهَا ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا هُوَ الْوُضُوءُ ، وَقَالَ : أَعْظِمْ لِي نُورًا ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ : وَاجْعَلْنِي نُورًا .
Ibn 'Abbas reported: I spent a night in the house of my mother's sister, Maimuna, and then narrated (the rest of the) hadith, but he made no mention of the washing of his face and two hands but he only said: He then came to the water-skin and loosened its straps and performed ablution between the two extremes, and then came to his bed and slept. He then got up for the second time and came to the waterskin and loosened its straps and then performed ablution which was in fact an ablution (it was performed well), and implored (the Lord) thus:" Give me abundant light," and he made no mention of:" Make me light."
Hadith 806
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَوَّاسٍ الْحَنْفِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ رُزَيْقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا جِبْرِيلُ قَاعِدٌ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَمِعَ نَقِيضًا مِنْ فَوْقِهِ ، فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ، فَقَالَ : هَذَا بَابٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ، فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ ، لَمْ يُفْتَحْ قَطُّ إِلَّا الْيَوْمَ ، فَنَزَلَ مِنْهُ مَلَكٌ ، فَقَالَ : هَذَا مَلَكٌ نَزَلَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ ، لَمْ يَنْزِلْ قَطُّ إِلَّا الْيَوْمَ ، فَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ : " أَبْشِرْ بِنُورَيْنِ أُوتِيتَهُمَا لَمْ يُؤْتَهُمَا نَبِيٌّ قَبْلَكَ ، فَاتِحَةُ الْكِتَابِ وَخَوَاتِيمُ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ ، لَنْ تَقْرَأَ بِحَرْفٍ مِنْهُمَا إِلَّا أُعْطِيتَهُ " .
Ibn 'Abbas reported that while Gabriel (ؑ) was sitting with the Apostle (ﷺ) he heard a creaking sound above him. He lifted his head and said: This As a gate opened in heaven today which had never been opened before. Then when an angel descended through it, he said: This is an angel who came down to the earth who had-never come down before. He greeted and said: Rejoice in two lights given to you which have not been given to any prophet before you: Fatihat al-Kitab and the concluding verses of Surah al-Baqarah. You will never recite a letter from them for which you will not be given (a reward).
Hadith 862
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُطْبَتَانِ ، يَجْلِسُ بَيْنَهُمَا يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ، وَيُذَكِّرُ النَّاسَ " .
Jabir bin ahadeeth said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) gave two sermons between which he sat, recited the Qur'an and exhorted the people.
Hadith 866
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ قَصْدًا ، وَخُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا " .
Jabir bin ahadeeth reported: I used to pray with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and both his prayer and sermon were of moderate length.
Hadith 887
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرُونَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِيدَيْنِ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ " .
Jabir bin ahadeeth said: I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayers on two I'ds more than once or twice without there being Adhan and Iqama.
Hadith 1000
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ امْرَأَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَصَدَّقْنَ يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ ، وَلَوْ مِنْ حُلِيِّكُنَّ " ، قَالَتْ : فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّكَ رَجُلٌ خَفِيفُ ذَاتِ الْيَدِ ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَمَرَنَا بِالصَّدَقَةِ ، فَأْتِهِ فَاسْأَلْهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ يَجْزِي عَنِّي ، وَإِلَّا صَرَفْتُهَا إِلَى غَيْرِكُمْ ، قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ لِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : بَلِ ائْتِيهِ أَنْتِ ، قَالَتْ : فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ بِبَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَاجَتِي حَاجَتُهَا ، قَالَتْ : وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَهَابَةُ ، قَالَتْ : فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا بِلَالٌ ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ : ائْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبِرْهُ أَنَّ امْرَأَتَيْنِ بِالْبَابِ تَسْأَلَانِكَ أَتُجْزِئُ الصَّدَقَةُ عَنْهُمَا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمَا ، وَعَلَى أَيْتَامٍ فِي حُجُورِهِمَا ؟ ، وَلَا تُخْبِرْهُ مَنْ نَحْنُ ، قَالَتْ : فَدَخَلَ بِلَالٌ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ هُمَا ؟ " فَقَالَ : امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ ، وَزَيْنَبُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّ الزَّيَانِبِ ؟ " ، قَالَ : امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَهُمَا أَجْرَانِ : أَجْرُ الْقَرَابَةِ ، وَأَجْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ " ،
Zainab, the wife of 'Abdullah (b. Mas'ud ), reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: O women, give sadaqa even though it be some of your jewellery. She returned to 'Abdullah and said: You are a person with empty hands, whereas the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has commanded us to give sadaqa, so better go to him and ask and if this will suffice for me; otherwise I shall give it to someone else. 'Abdullah said to me (his wife): You better go yourself. So I went and there was another woman of the Ansar at the door of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) having the same purpose as I had. Now Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was invested with awe (so we did not like to knock). Then Bilal (RA) came out and we said to him: Go to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and inform him that there are two women at the door asking him whether it will serve them to give sadaqa to their spouses and to orphans who are under their charge, but do not inform him who we are. Bilal (RA) went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and asked him (what these women had instructed him to ask). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked him who these women were. He ( Bilal (RA) ) said: They are women from Ansar and Zainab. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Which of the Zainabs? He said: The wife of 'Abdullah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: There are two rewards for them, the reward of kinship and the reward of Sadaqa.
Hadith 1042
حَدَّثَنِي هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَأَنْ يَغْدُوَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَيَحْطِبَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ ، فَيَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ وَيَسْتَغْنِيَ بِهِ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ رَجُلًا أَعْطَاهُ أَوْ مَنَعَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَإِنَّ الْيَدَ الْعُلْيَا أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ " ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) is reported to have heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: It is better for one among you to bring a load of firewood on his back and give charity out of it (and satisfy his own need) and be independent of people, than that he should beg from people, whether they give him anything or refuse him. Verily the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (charity) with your dependants.
Hadith 1064
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ بِالْيَمَنِ ، بِذَهَبَةٍ فِي تُرْبَتِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَسَمَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أَرْبَعَةِ نَفَرٍ : الْأَقْرَعُ بْنُ حَابِسٍ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ ، وَعُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، وَعَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ عُلَاثَةَ الْعَامِرِيُّ ، ثُمَّ أَحَدُ بَنِي كِلَابٍ ، وَزَيْدُ الْخَيْرِ الطَّائِيُّ ، ثُمَّ أَحَدُ بَنِي نَبْهَانَ ، قَالَ : فَغَضِبَتْ قُرَيْشٌ ، فَقَالُوا : أَتُعْطِي صَنَادِيدَ نَجْدٍ وَتَدَعُنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي إِنَّمَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَتَأَلَّفَهُمْ " ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ كَثُّ اللِّحْيَةِ مُشْرِفُ الْوَجْنَتَيْنِ غَائِرُ الْعَيْنَيْنِ نَاتِئُ الْجَبِينِ مَحْلُوقُ الرَّأْسِ ، فَقَالَ : اتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُ أَيَأْمَنُنِي عَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ وَلَا تَأْمَنُونِي " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فِي قَتْلِهِ ، يُرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ مِنْ ضِئْضِئِ هَذَا ، قَوْمًا يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَنَاجِرَهُمْ ، يَقْتُلُونَ أَهْلَ الْإِسْلَامِ وَيَدَعُونَ أَهْلَ الْأَوْثَانِ ، يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ ، لَئِنْ أَدْرَكْتُهُمْ لَأَقْتُلَنَّهُمْ قَتْلَ عَادٍ " .
Abu Said Khudri reported that 'Ali (RA) sent some gold alloyed with dust to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) distributed that among four men, al-Aqra bin Habis Hanzali and Uyaina bin Badr al-Fazari and 'Alqama bin 'Ulatha al-'Amiri, then to one person of the tribe of Kilab and to Zaid al-Khair al-Ta'l, and then to one person of the tribe of Nabhan. Upon this the people of Quraish felt angry and said: He (the Holy Prophet) gave to the chiefs of Najd and ignored us. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I have done it with a view to con- cillating them. Then there came a person with thick beard, prominent cheeks, deep sunken eyes and protruding forehead and shaven head. He said: Muhammad, fear Allah. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: If I disobey Allah, who would then obey Him? Have I not been (sent as the) most trustworthy among the people of the-world? -but you do not repose trust in me. That person then went back. A person among the people then sought permission (from the Holy Prophet) for his murder. According to some, it was Khalid bin Walid who sought the permission. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: From this very person's progeny there would arise people who would recite the Qur'an, but it would not go beyond their throat; they would kill the followers of Islam and would spare the idol-worshippers. They would glance through the teachings of Islam so hurriedly just as the arrow passes through the pray. If I were to ever find them I would kill them like 'Ad.
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُقَبِّلُ فِي شَهْرِ الصَّوْمِ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to kiss her during the month of fasting.
Hadith 1196
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَإِسْحَاق ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فِي نَفَرٍ مُحْرِمِينَ وَأَبُو قَتَادَةَ مُحِلٌّ ، وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَفِيهِ قَالَ : " هَلْ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْكُمْ أَوْ أَمَرَهُ بِشَيْءٍ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " فَكُلُوا " .
Abdullah bin Abi Qatada reported that Abu Qatadah (RA) was among the party of those who had entered upon the state of Ihram whereas he was not. The rest of the hadith is the same (and herein it is also narrated): "He (the Holy Prophet) said: Did any person among you point to him (to hunt) or command him (in any form)? They said: Messenger of Allah, not at all. Thereupon he said: Then eat it."
Hadith 1283
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، وَنَحْنُ بِجَمْعٍ : سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ ، يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْمَقَامِ : " لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ " .
'Abdullah narrated to us as we had gathered (at Muzdalifa): I have heard from one upon whom Surah al-Baqarah was revealed (the Holy Prophet) pronouncing Talbiya at this place.
Hadith 1333
حدثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حدثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، حدثنا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْجَدْرِ أَمِنَ الْبَيْتِ هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : فَلِمَ لَمْ يُدْخِلُوهُ فِي الْبَيْتِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّ قَوْمَكِ قَصَّرَتْ بِهِمُ النَّفَقَةُ " ، قُلْتُ : فَمَا شَأْنُ بَابِهِ مُرْتَفِعًا ؟ قَالَ : " فَعَلَ ذَلِكِ قَوْمُكِ لِيُدْخِلُوا مَنْ شَاءُوا ، وَيَمْنَعُوا مَنْ شَاءُوا ، وَلَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثٌ عَهْدُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَأَخَافُ أَنْ تُنْكِرَ قُلُوبُهُمْ ، لَنَظَرْتُ أَنْ أُدْخِلَ الْجَدْرَ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَأَنْ أُلْزِقَ بَابَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ " ،
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) about the wall, circumpassing the House (i. e. whether the wall on the side of Hijr was included in the Ka’bah). He said, Yes. I said: Then why did they not include it in the House? He said: Your people ran short of the means (to do so). I said: Why is it that the level of its door is raised high? He said: Your people did it so that they should admit one whom they liked, and forbid him whom they disliked, and if your people were not new converts to faith, and I did not apprehend that their hearts would feel agitated at this, I would have definitely included (the area of) this wall-in the House and would have brought the door to the level of the ground.
Hadith 1350
وَحدثناه سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ ، وَأَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ . ح وَحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، وَسُفْيَانَ . ح وَحدثنا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حدثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حدثنا شُعْبَةُ ، كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِهِمْ جَمِيعًا مَنْ حَجَّ ، فَلَمْ يَرْفُثْ وَلَمْ يَفْسُقْ ،
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Mansur with the same chain of transmitters (and the words are): "He who performed Pilgrimage but neither spoke indecently nor acted wickedly."
Hadith 1385
وحدثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَهَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالُوا : حدثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ : طَابَةَ " .
Jabir bin ahadeeth (RA) reported that he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: Allah named Madinah as Taaba.
Hadith 1455
حدثنا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حدثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَت عَائِشَةُ : دَخَلَ عَلَيّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَنْدِي رَجُلٌ قَاعِدٌ ، فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَرَأَيْتُ الْغَضَبَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، قَالَت : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ، قَالَت : فقَالَ : " انْظُرْنَ إِخْوَتَكُنَّ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ، فَإِنَّمَا الرَّضَاعَةُ مِنَ الْمَجَاعَةِ " ،
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) visited me when a man was sitting near me, and he seemed to disapprove of that. And I saw signs of anger on his face and I said: Messenger of Allah, he is my brother by forsterage, whereupon he said: Consider who your brothers are because of fosterage since fosterage is through hunger (i. e. in infancy).
Hadith 1843
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، وَوَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ . ح ، وحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةٌ وَأُمُورٌ تُنْكِرُونَهَا ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَيْفَ تَأْمُرُ مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنَّا ذَلِكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : تُؤَدُّونَ الْحَقَّ الَّذِي عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَسْأَلُونَ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَكُمْ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: After me there will be favouritism anad many things that you will not like. They (his Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, what do you order that one should do it anyone from us has to live through such a time? He said: You should discharge your own responsibility (by obeying your Amir), and ask God to cuncede your right (by guiding the Amir to the right path or by replacing him by one more just and God-fearing).
Hadith 1873
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ شَبِيبِ بْنِ غَرْقَدَةَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ الْبَارِقِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْأَجْرَ وَالْمَغْنَمَ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ سُفْيَانَ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ الْبَارِقِيَّ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ،
A version of the tradition narrated on the authority of 'Urwat al-Bariqi does not mention (the words):" reward and booty".
Hadith 1960
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ جُنْدَبِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ الْأَضْحَى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ بِالنَّاسِ نَظَرَ إِلَى غَنَمٍ قَدْ ذُبِحَتْ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ ، فَلْيَذْبَحْ شَاةً مَكَانَهَا ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ ذَبَحَ ، فَلْيَذْبَحْ عَلَى اسْمِ اللَّهِ " .
Jundab bin Sufyan reported: I was with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (on the occasion) of 'Id al-Adha. After he had completed the prayer with people, he found that the goats had been slaughtered, whereupon he said: He who slaughtered sacrificial animal before the prayer should slaughter a goat (again) in its stead and he who has not slaughtered he should slaughter it by reciting the name of Allah.
