Hadith 6042
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَضْحَكَ الرَّجُلُ مِمَّا يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْأَنْفُسِ وَقَالَ : بِمَ يَضْرِبُ أَحَدُكُمُ امْرَأَتَهُ ضَرْبَ الْفَحْلِ أَوِ الْعَبْدِ ثُمَّ لَعَلَّهُ يُعَانِقُهَا " ، وَقَالَ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَوُهَيْبٌ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، جَلْدَ الْعَبْدِ .
Narrated `Abdullah bin Zam`a: The Prophet forbade laughing at a person who passes wind, and said, "How does anyone of you beat his wife as he beats the stallion camel and then he may embrace (sleep with) her?" And Hisham said, "As he beats his slave"
Hadith 6053
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ " .
Narrated Abu Usaid As-Sa`idi: The Prophet said, "The best family among the Ansar is the Banu An-Najjar. "
Hadith 6056
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ حُذَيْفَةُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَتَّاتٌ " .
Narrated Hudhaifa: I heard the Prophet saying, "A Qattat will not enter Paradise."
Hadith 6059
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِسْمَةً ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَادَ مُحَمَّدٌ بِهَذَا وَجْهَ اللَّهِ ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَتَمَعَّرَ وَجْهُهُ وَقَالَ : " رَحِمَ اللَّهُ مُوسَى لَقَدْ أُوذِيَ بِأَكْثَرَ مِنْ هَذَا فَصَبَرَ " .
Narrated Ibn Mas`ud: Once Allah's Apostle divided and distributed (the war booty). An Ansar man said, "By Allah ! Muhammad, by this distribution, did not intend to please Allah." So I came to Allah's Apostle and informed him about it whereupon his face became changed with anger and he said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on Moses for he was hurt with more than this, yet he remained patient."
Hadith 6071
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْبَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، كُلُّ ضَعِيفٍ مُتَضَاعِفٍ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ ، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَهْلِ النَّارِ ، كُلُّ عُتُلٍّ جَوَّاظٍ مُسْتَكْبِرٍ " .
Narrated Haritha bin Wahb: Al-Khuzai: The Prophet said, "Shall I inform you about the people of Paradise? They comprise every obscure unimportant humble person, and if he takes Allah's Oath that he will do that thing, Allah will fulfill his oath (by doing that). Shall I inform you about the people of the Fire? They comprise every cruel, violent, proud and conceited person."
Hadith 6099
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ أَوْ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَصْبَرَ عَلَى أَذًى سَمِعَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهُمْ لَيَدْعُونَ لَهُ وَلَدًا وَإِنَّهُ لَيُعَافِيهِمْ وَيَرْزُقُهُمْ " .
Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet said: None is more patient than Allah against the harmful saying. He hears from the people they ascribe children to Him, yet He gives them health and (supplies them with) provision."
Hadith 6136
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِ جَارَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should not hurt his neighbor and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guest generously and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should talk what is good or keep quiet."
Hadith 6146
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، سَمِعْتُ جُنْدَبًا ، يَقُولُ : بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي إِذْ أَصَابَهُ حَجَرٌ فَعَثَرَ فَدَمِيَتْ إِصْبَعُهُ فَقَالَ : " هَلْ أَنْتِ إِلَّا إِصْبَعٌ دَمِيتِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَا لَقِيتِ " .
Narrated Jundub: While the Prophet was walking, a stone hit his foot and stumbled and his toe was injured. He then (quoting a poetic verse) said, "You are not more than a toe which has been bathed in blood in Allah's Cause."
Hadith 6147
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَصْدَقُ كَلِمَةٍ قَالَهَا الشَّاعِرُ كَلِمَةُ لَبِيدٍ ، أَلَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلَا اللَّهَ بَاطِلُ " وَكَادَ أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "The most true words said by a poet were the words of Labid. He said, i.e. 'Verily, everything except Allah is perishable and Umaiya bin Abi As-Salt was about to embrace Islam .
Hadith 6170
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّ الْقَوْمَ وَلَمَّا يَلْحَقْ بِهِمْ قَالَ : " الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ " ، تَابَعَهُ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ .
Narrated Abu Musa: It was said to the Prophet; , "A man may love some people but he cannot catch up with their good deeds?" The Prophet said, "Everyone will be with those whom he loves."
Hadith 6179
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ خَبُثَتْ نَفْسِي ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَقُلْ لَقِسَتْ نَفْسِي " .
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet said, "None of you should say Khabuthat Nafsi, but he is recommended to say 'Laqisat Nafsi."
Hadith 6184
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفَدِّي أَحَدًا غَيْرَ سَعْدٍ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : ارْمِ فَدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي أَظُنُّهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ " .
Narrated `Ali: I never heard Allah's Apostle saying, "Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you," except for Sa`d (bin Abi Waqqas). I heard him saying, "Throw! (arrows), Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you !" (The sub-narrator added, "I think that was in the battle of Uhud.")
Hadith 6221
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : عَطَسَ رَجُلَانِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَشَمَّتَ أَحَدَهُمَا وَلَمْ يُشَمِّتِ الْآخَرَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " هَذَا حَمِدَ اللَّهَ ، وَهَذَا لَمْ يَحْمَدِ اللَّهَ " .
Narrated Anas bin Malik: Two men sneezed before the Prophet. The Prophet said to one of them, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on you," but he did not say that to the other. On being asked (why), the Prophet said, "That one praised Allah (at the time of sneezing), while the other did not praise Allah."
Hadith 6270
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ " نَهَى أَنْ يُقَامَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ وَيَجْلِسَ فِيهِ آخَرُ ، وَلَكِنْ تَفَسَّحُوا وَتَوَسَّعُوا " ، وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَقُومَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَجْلِسَ مَكَانَهُ .
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet forbade that a man should be made to get up from his seat so that another might sit on it, but one should make room and spread out. Ibn `Umar disliked that a man should get up from his seat and then somebody else sit at his place.
Hadith 6279
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَنَتَغَدَّى بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ " .
Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: We used to have a midday nap and take our meals after the Jumua (prayer).
Hadith 6312
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قَالَ : بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا ، وَإِذَا قَامَ قَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ " .
Narrated Hudhaifa: When the Prophet went to bed, he would say: "Bismika amutu wa ahya." and when he got up he would say:" Al-hamdu li l-lahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilaihin-nushur."
Hadith 6316
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : بِتُّ عِنْدَ مَيْمُونَةَ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَى حَاجَتَهُ ، فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ نَامَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَأَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ ، فَأَطْلَقَ شِنَاقَهَا ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا بَيْنَ وُضُوءَيْنِ لَمْ يُكْثِرْ وَقَدْ أَبْلَغَ فَصَلَّى ، فَقُمْتُ فَتَمَطَّيْتُ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَرَى أَنِّي كُنْتُ أَتَّقِيهِ فَتَوَضَّأْتُ ، فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي ، فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، فَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِي فَأَدَارَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَتَتَامَّتْ صَلَاتُهُ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ، ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ فَنَامَ حَتَّى نَفَخَ ، وَكَانَ إِذَا نَامَ نَفَخَ فَآذَنَهُ بِلَالٌ بِالصَّلَاةِ ، فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ ، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ : " اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا ، وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا ، وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا ، وَعَنْ يَسَارِي نُورًا ، وَفَوْقِي نُورًا ، وَتَحْتِي نُورًا ، وَأَمَامِي نُورًا ، وَخَلْفِي نُورًا ، وَاجْعَلْ لِي نُورًا " ، قَالَ كُرَيْبٌ : وَسَبْعٌ فِي التَّابُوتِ ، فَلَقِيتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ وَلَدِ الْعَبَّاسِ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِنَّ فَذَكَرَ : عَصَبِي ، وَلَحْمِي ، وَدَمِي ، وَشَعَرِي ، وَبَشَرِي ، وَذَكَرَ خَصْلَتَيْنِ .
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: One night I slept at the house of Maimuna. The Prophet woke up, answered the call of nature, washed his face and hands, and then slept. He got up (late at night), went to a water skin, opened the mouth thereof and performed ablution not using much water, yet he washed al I the parts properly and then offered the prayer. I got up and straightened my back in order that the Prophet might not feel that I was watching him, and then I performed the ablution, and when he got up to offer the prayer, stood on his left. He caught hold of my ear and brought me over to his right side. He offered thirteen rak`at in all and then lay down and slept till he started blowing out his breath as he used to do when he slept. In the meantime Bilal informed the Prophet of the approaching time for the (Fajr) prayer, and the Prophet offered the Fajr (Morning) prayer without performing new ablution. He used to say in his invocation, Allaihumma ij'al fi qalbi nuran wa fi basari nuran, wa fi sam'i nuran, wa'an yamini nuran, wa'an yasari nuran, wa fawqi nuran, wa tahti nuran, wa amami nuran, wa khalfi nuran, waj'al li nuran." Kuraib (a sub narrator) said, "I have forgotten seven other words, (which the Prophet mentioned in this invocation). I met a man from the offspring of Al-`Abbas and he narrated those seven things to me, mentioning, '(Let there be light in) my nerves, my flesh, my blood, my hair and my body,' and he also mentioned two other things."
Hadith 6324
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ ، قَالَ : بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا ، وَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ مِنْ مَنَامِهِ ، قَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ " .
Narrated Hudhaifa: Whenever the Prophet intended to go to bed, he would recite: "Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya (With Your name, O Allah, I die and I live)." And when he woke up from his sleep, he would say: "Al-hamdu lil-lahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana; wa ilaihi an-nushur (All the Praises are for Allah Who has made us alive after He made us die (sleep) and unto Him is the Resurrection). "
Hadith 6372
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ ، كَمَا حَبَّبْتَ إِلَيْنَا مَكَّةَ ، أَوْ أَشَدَّ وَانْقُلْ حُمَّاهَا إِلَى الْجُحْفَةِ ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي مُدِّنَا وَصَاعِنَا " .
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet said, "O Allah! Make us love Medina as You made us love Mecca, or more, and transfer the fever that is in it, to Al-Juhfa. O Allah! Bless our Mudd and our Sam' (kinds of measures).
Hadith 6417
حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ مُنْذِرٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : خَطَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطًّا مُرَبَّعًا ، وَخَطَّ خَطًّا فِي الْوَسَطِ خَارِجًا مِنْهُ ، وَخَطَّ خُطَطًا صِغَارًا إِلَى هَذَا الَّذِي فِي الْوَسَطِ مِنْ جَانِبِهِ الَّذِي فِي الْوَسَطِ ، وَقَالَ : " هَذَا الْإِنْسَانُ ، وَهَذَا أَجَلُهُ مُحِيطٌ بِهِ ، أَوْ قَدْ أَحَاطَ بِهِ ، وَهَذَا الَّذِي هُوَ خَارِجٌ أَمَلُهُ ، وَهَذِهِ الْخُطَطُ الصِّغَارُ الْأَعْرَاضُ ، فَإِنْ أَخْطَأَهُ هَذَا نَهَشَهُ هَذَا ، وَإِنْ أَخْطَأَهُ هَذَا نَهَشَهُ هَذَا " .
Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet drew a square and then drew a line in the middle of it and let it extend outside the square and then drew several small lines attached to that central line, and said, "This is the human being, and this, (the square) in his lease of life, encircles him from all sides (or has encircled him), and this (line), which is outside (the square), is his hope, and these small lines are the calamities and troubles (which may befall him), and if one misses him, an-other will snap (i.e. overtake) him, and if the other misses him, a third will snap (i.e. overtake) him."
Hadith 6432
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ خَبَّابٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " هَاجَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَصَّهُ " .
Narrated Khabbab: We migrated with the Prophet..(This narration is related in the chapter of migration).
Hadith 6488
حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَالْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْجَنَّةُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ شِرَاكِ نَعْلِهِ وَالنَّارُ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ " .
Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet said, "Paradise is nearer to any of you than the Shirak (leather strap) of his shoe, and so is the (Hell) Fire.
Hadith 6497
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُذَيْفَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثَيْنِ رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَهُمَا وَأَنَا أَنْتَظِرُ الْآخَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا : " أَنَّ الْأَمَانَةَ نَزَلَتْ فِي جَذْرِ قُلُوبِ الرِّجَالِ ، ثُمَّ عَلِمُوا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ، ثُمَّ عَلِمُوا مِنَ السُّنَّةِ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَنْ رَفْعِهَا ، قَالَ : يَنَامُ الرَّجُلُ النَّوْمَةَ ، فَتُقْبَضُ الْأَمَانَةُ مِنْ قَلْبِهِ ، فَيَظَلُّ أَثَرُهَا مِثْلَ أَثَرِ الْوَكْتِ ، ثُمَّ يَنَامُ النَّوْمَةَ ، فَتُقْبَضُ فَيَبْقَى أَثَرُهَا مِثْلَ الْمَجْلِ كَجَمْرٍ دَحْرَجْتَهُ عَلَى رِجْلِكَ ، فَنَفِطَ فَتَرَاهُ مُنْتَبِرًا وَلَيْسَ فِيهِ شَيْءٌ ، فَيُصْبِحُ النَّاسُ يَتَبَايَعُونَ فَلَا يَكَادُ أَحَدٌ يُؤَدِّي الْأَمَانَةَ ، فَيُقَالُ : إِنَّ فِي بَنِي فُلَانٍ رَجُلًا أَمِينًا ، وَيُقَالُ لِلرَّجُلِ : مَا أَعْقَلَهُ وَمَا أَظْرَفَهُ وَمَا أَجْلَدَهُ وَمَا فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ حَبَّةِ خَرْدَلٍ مِنْ إِيمَانٍ ، وَلَقَدْ أَتَى عَلَيَّ زَمَانٌ وَمَا أُبَالِي أَيَّكُمْ بَايَعْتُ لَئِنْ كَانَ مُسْلِمًا رَدَّهُ عَلَيَّ الْإِسْلَامُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ نَصْرَانِيًّا رَدَّهُ عَلَيَّ سَاعِيهِ ، فَأَمَّا الْيَوْمَ فَمَا كُنْتُ أُبَايِعُ إِلَّا فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا " ، قَالَ الفِرَبْرِيُّ ، قَال أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ : حَدَّثْتُ أَبَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ عَاصِم ، يَقُولُ : أَبَا عُبَيْدٍ ، يَقُولً : قَالَ الأَصْمَعِيُّ ، وَأَبُو عَمْرٍو ، وَغَيْرُهُمَا ، جَذْرُ قُلُوبِ الرَّجَالِ الْجَذْرُ الأَصْلُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيءٍ الوَكْتُ أَثَرُ الشَّيْءِ الْيَسِيرُ مِنْهُ ، وَالْمَجْلُ أَثَرُ الْعَمَلِ فِي الكَفِّ إذَا غَلُظَ .
Narrated Hudhaifa: Allah's Apostle narrated to us two narrations, one of which I have seen (happening) and I am waiting for the other. He narrated that honesty was preserved in the roots of the hearts of men (in the beginning) and then they learnt it (honesty) from the Qur'an, and then they learnt it from the (Prophet's) Sunna (tradition). He also told us about its disappearance, saying, "A man will go to sleep whereupon honesty will be taken away from his heart, and only its trace will remain, resembling the traces of fire. He then will sleep whereupon the remainder of the honesty will also be taken away (from his heart) and its trace will resemble a blister which is raised over the surface of skin, when an ember touches one's foot; and in fact, this blister does not contain anything. So there will come a day when people will deal in business with each other but there will hardly be any trustworthy persons among them. Then it will be said that in such-and-such a tribe there is such-and-such person who is honest, and a man will be admired for his intelligence, good manners and strength, though indeed he will not have belief equal to a mustard seed in his heart." The narrator added: There came upon me a time when I did not mind dealing with anyone of you, for if he was a Muslim, his religion would prevent him from cheating; and if he was a Christian, his Muslim ruler would prevent him from cheating; but today I cannot deal except with so-and-so and so-and-so. Hadith 6499
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جُنْدَبًا ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا يَقُولُ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَيْرَهُ ، فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ سَمَّعَ ، سَمَّعَ اللَّهُ بِهِ ، وَمَنْ يُرَائِي ، يُرَائِي اللَّهُ بِهِ " .
Narrated Jundub: The Prophet said, "He who lets the people hear of his good deeds intentionally, to win their praise, Allah will let the people know his real intention (on the Day of Resurrection), and he who does good things in public to show off and win the praise of the people, Allah will disclose his real intention (and humiliate him).
Hadith 6604
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " لَقَدْ خَطَبَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُطْبَةً مَا تَرَكَ فِيهَا شَيْئًا إِلَى قِيَامِ السَّاعَةِ ، إِلَّا ذَكَرَهُ عَلِمَهُ مَنْ عَلِمَهُ ، وَجَهِلَهُ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ ، إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَرَى الشَّيْءَ قَدْ نَسِيتُ فَأَعْرِفُ مَا يَعْرِفُ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا غَابَ عَنْهُ فَرَآهُ فَعَرَفَهُ " .
Narrated Hudhaifa: The Prophet once delivered a speech in front of us wherein he left nothing but mentioned (about) everything that would happen till the Hour. Some of us stored that our minds and some forgot it. (After that speech) I used to see events taking place (which had been referred to in that speech) but I had forgotten them (before their occurrence). Then I would recognize such events as a man recognizes another man who has been absent and then sees and recognizes him.
Hadith 6608
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ النَّذْرِ ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَا يَرُدُّ شَيْئًا ، وَإِنَّمَا يُسْتَخْرَجُ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَخِيلِ " .
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet forbade vowing and said, "In fact, vowing does not prevent anything, but it makes a miser to spend his property."
Hadith 6628
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ يَمِينُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا وَمُقَلِّبِ الْقُلُوبِ " .
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The oath of the Prophet used to be: "No, by Him who turns the hearts."
Hadith 6654
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : بِإِبْرَارِ الْمُقْسِمِ " .
Narrated Al-Bara: The Prophet ordered us to help others to fulfill the oaths.
Hadith 6687
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " مَا شَبِعَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ خُبْزِ بُرٍّ مَأْدُومٍ ، ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ حَتَّى لَحِقَ بِاللَّهِ " ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ كَثِيرٍ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعَائِشَةَ : بِهَذَا .
Narrated `Aisha: The family of (the Prophet) Muhammad never ate wheat-bread with meat for three consecutive days to their fill, till he met Allah.
Hadith 6693
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، " نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ النَّذْرِ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّهُ لَا يَرُدُّ شَيْئًا ، وَلَكِنَّهُ يُسْتَخْرَجُ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَخِيلِ " .
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: The Prophet forbade the making of vows and said, "It (a vow) does not prevent anything (that has to take place), but the property of a miser is spent (taken out) with it."
Hadith 6742
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ هُزَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : " لَأَقْضِيَنَّ فِيهَا بِقَضَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : للْابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ ، وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ ، وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ " .
Narrated Huzail: `Abdullah said, "The judgment I will give in this matter will be like the judgment of the Prophet, i.e. one-half is for the daughter and one-sixth for the son's daughter and the rest of the inheritance for the sister."
Hadith 6753
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ هُزَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْإِسْلَامِ لَا يُسَيِّبُونَ ، وَإِنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كَانُوا يُسَيِّبُونَ " .
Narrated `Abdullah: The Muslims did not free slaves as Sa'iba, but the People of the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance used to do so.
Hadith 6756
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : " نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : عَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَلَاءِ ، وَعَنْ هِبَتِهِ " .
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet forbade the selling of the Wala' (of slaves) or giving it as a present.
Hadith 6760
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سَلَامٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْطَى الْوَرِقَ ، وَوَلِيَ النِّعْمَةَ " .
Narrated Aisha: Allah's Apostle said, "The wala is for the one who gives the silver (pays the price) and does the favor (of manumission after paying the price).
Hadith 6778
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَصِينٍ ، سَمِعْتُ عُمَيْرَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ النَّخَعِيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " مَا كُنْتُ لِأُقِيمَ حَدًّا عَلَى أَحَدٍ فَيَمُوتَ فَأَجِدَ فِي نَفْسِي ، إِلَّا صَاحِبَ الْخَمْرِ : فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ مَاتَ وَدَيْتُهُ ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَمْ يَسُنَّهُ " .
Narrated `Ali bin Abi Talib: I would not feel sorry for one who dies because of receiving a legal punishment, except the drunk, for if he should die (when being punished), I would give blood money to his family because no fixed punishment has been ordered by Allah's Apostle for the drunk.
Hadith 6811
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الذَّنْبِ أَعْظَمُ ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا ، وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ " . قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ أَيٌّ ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ ، مِنْ أَجْلِ أَنْ يَطْعَمَ مَعَكَ ، قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ أَيٌّ ؟ قَالَ : أَنْ تُزَانِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ " ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : وَحَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي وَاصِلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : مِثْلَهُ . قَالَ عَمْرٌو فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَكَانَ حَدَّثَنَا ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ وَمَنْصُورٍ ، وَوَاصِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَيْسَرَةَ ، قَالَ : دَعْهُ دَعْهُ .
Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud: I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Which is the biggest sin?" He said, "To set up rivals to Allah by worshipping others though He alone has created you." I asked, "What is next?" He said, "To kill your child lest it should share your food." I asked, "What is next?" He said, "To commit illegal sexual intercourse with the wife of your neighbor."
Hadith 6867
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا تُقْتَلُ نَفْسٌ ، إِلَّا كَانَ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ الْأَوَّلِ كِفْلٌ مِنْهَا " .
Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet said, "No human being is killed unjustly, but a part of responsibility for the crime is laid on the first son of Adam who invented the tradition of killing (murdering) on the earth. (It is said that he was Qabil).
Hadith 6886
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَحْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " لَدَدْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تُلِدُّونِي ، فَقُلْنَا : كَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَرِيضِ لِلدَّوَاءِ ، فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ ، قَالَ : لَا يَبْقَى أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا لُدَّ غَيْرَ الْعَبَّاسِ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَشْهَدْكُمْ " .
Narrated `Aisha: We poured medicine into the mouth of the Prophet during his ailment. He said, "Don't pour medicine into my mouth." (We thought he said that) out of the aversion a patient usually has for medicines. When he improved and felt better he said, "There is none of you but will be forced to drink medicine, except Al-`Abbas, for he did not witness your deed."
Hadith 6897
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ " لَدَدْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ وَجَعَلَ يُشِيرُ إِلَيْنَا لَا تَلُدُّونِي ، قَالَ : فَقُلْنَا : كَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَرِيضِ بِالدَّوَاءِ ، فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمْ أَنْ تَلُدُّونِي ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : كَرَاهِيَةٌ لِلدَّوَاءِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَا يَبْقَى مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا لُدَّ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَّا الْعَبَّاسَ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَشْهَدْكُمْ " .
Narrated `Aisha: We poured medicine into the mouth of Allah's Apostle during his illness, and he pointed out to us intending to say, "Don't pour medicine into my mouth." We thought that his refusal was out of the aversion a patient usually has for medicine. When he improved and felt a bit better he said (to us.) "Didn't I forbid you to pour medicine into my mouth?" We said, "We thought (you did so) because of the aversion, one usually have for medicine." Allah's Apostle said, "There is none of you but will be forced to drink medicine, and I will watch you, except Al-`Abbas, for he did not witness this act of yours."
Hadith 6916
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تُخَيِّرُوا بَيْنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ " .
Narrated Abu Sa`id: The Prophet said, "Do not prefer some prophets to others."
