Hadith 2716
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَتَبَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ إِلَى كِسْرَى ، وَإِلَى قَيْصَرَ ، وَإِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ ، وَإِلَى كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ ، وَلَيْسَ بِالنَّجَاشِيِّ الَّذِي صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ .
´Narrated Anas bin Malik:` "Before he died, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had written to Kisra, Ceasar, An-Najashi, and to every tyrant calling them to Allah. This An-Najashi is not the one that the Prophet (ﷺ) performed to the funeral Salat for."
Hadith 2788
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ خَيْرَ طِيبِ الرَّجُلِ مَا ظَهَرَ رِيحُهُ وَخَفِيَ لَوْنُهُ ، وَخَيْرَ طِيبِ النِّسَاءِ مَا ظَهَرَ لَوْنُهُ وَخَفِيَ رِيحُهُ ، وَنَهَى عَنْ مِيثَرَةِ الْأُرْجُوَانِ " ، هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
´Narrated 'Imran bin Husain:` "The Prophet (ﷺ) said [to me]: 'Indeed the best fragrance for men is what's scent is apparent and its color is hidden, and the best fragrance for women is what's color is visible and its scent is hidden.' And he prohibited Mitharatil-Urjawan (Mitharah was some type of saddle cloth. Some of the people of knowledge say it was a certain kind of cloth made of silk, and it preceded earlier under no. 1760. They disagree over Al-Urjawan, and perhaps it means whatever is red, meaning the Red Mitahrah, see Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi)."
Hadith 2958
وَيُرْوَى عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ وَلِلَّهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ سورة البقرة آية 115 قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : هِيَ مَنْسُوخَةٌ نَسَخَهَا قَوْلُهُ : فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ سورة البقرة آية 144 " أَيْ تِلْقَاءَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ .
‘It was narrated to me by Muhammad bin Abdul Malik bin Abi Al-Shawaarib, who said: Yazid bin Zurai’ narrated to me, and Yazid bin Zurai’ narrated from Sa’eed, from Qatadah.’
Hadith 2983
حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ الْوُسْطَى صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated Samurah bin Jundab:` "The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The middle Salat is Salat Al-'Asr.'"
Hadith 2984
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ بِنْ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ يَوْمَ الْأَحْزَابِ : " اللَّهُمَّ امْلَأْ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا كَمَا شَغَلُونَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى حَتَّى غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، قَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، وَأَبُو حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجُ اسْمُهُ مُسْلِمٌ .
´Narrated:` 'Ubaidah As-Salmani that 'Ali narrated to him that on the Day of Al-Ahzab the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "O Allah! Fill their graves and their homes with fire as they have kept us busy from Salat Al-Wusta (the middle prayer) until the sun set."
Hadith 3008
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، قَالَ : " غُشِينَا وَنَحْنُ فِي مَصَافِّنَا يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ، حَدَّثَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِيمَنْ غَشِيَهُ النُّعَاسُ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَ سَيْفِي يَسْقُطُ مِنْ يَدِي وَآخُذُهُ ، وَيَسْقُطُ مِنْ يَدِي وَآخُذُهُ ، وَالطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى الْمُنَاقِدُونَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ هَمٌّ إِلَّا أَنْفُسُهُمْ ، أَجْبَنُ قَوْمٍ وَأَرْعَبُهُ وَأَخْذَلُهُ لِلْحَقِّ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated Anas:` that Abu Talhah said: "We were overcome, and we were in our positions on the Day of Uhud," and he narrated that he was among those who were overcome with slumber on that day. He said: "My sword kept falling from my hand and I would pick it up and it would fall from my hand and I would pick it up (again). The other party was that of the hypocrites, they had no concern but themselves, the most cowardly of people, the most frightened, fleeing from the truth."
Hadith 3061
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ قَزَعَةَ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ خِلَاسِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُنْزِلَتْ الْمَائِدَةُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا ، وَأُمِرُوا أَنْ لَا يَخُونُوا وَلَا يَدَّخِرُوا لِغَدٍ ، فَخَانُوا وَادَّخَرُوا وَرَفَعُوا لِغَدٍ فَمُسِخُوا قِرَدَةً وَخَنَازِيرَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ ، قَدْ رَوَاهُ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَن سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ خِلَاسٍ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ مَوْقُوفًا ، وَلَا نَعْرِفُهُ مَرْفُوعًا إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قَزَعَةَ .
´Narrated 'Ammar bin Yasir:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The Ma'idah was sent down from the Heavens with bread and meat. And they were commanded to not be deceitful with it and hide it for tomorrow. So they were deceitful with it and they hid it, so it was raised up in the morning. Then they were transformed into monkeys and pigs.'"
Hadith 3061
حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ ، وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِا الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قَزَعَةَ ، وَلَا نَعْلَمُ لِلْحَدِيثِ الْمَرْفُوعِ أَصْلًا .
And we know it as a marfu’ narration only from the narration of Hasan bin Qaza’ah. Sufyan has narrated from Sa’eed bin Abi ‘Aroobah with this chain in the same way, but he did not make it marfu’. And this is more authentic than the narration of Hasan Qaza’ah. And we do not know of any origin for the marfu’ hadith.
Hadith 3157
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، فِي قَوْلِهِ : وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا سورة مريم آية 57 قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا عُرِجَ بِي رَأَيْتُ إِدْرِيسَ فِي السَّمَاءِ الرَّابِعَةِ " ، قَالَ : وَفِي الْبَابِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، وَهَمَّامٌ، وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثَ الْمِعْرَاجِ بِطُولِهِ وَهَذَا عِنْدَنَا مُخْتَصَرٌ مِنْ ذَاكَ .
´Narrated Shaiban:` from Qatadah, that regarding Allah's saying: And we raised him to a high station (19:57). He said: "Anas bin Malik narrated that Allah's Prophet (ﷺ) said: "When I was brought up, I saw Idris in the Fourth Heaven."
Hadith 3174
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ الرُّبَيِّعَ بِنْتَ النَّضْرِ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ ابْنُهَا حَارِثَةُ بْنُ سُرَاقَةَ أُصِيبَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ أَصَابَهُ سَهْمٌ غَرَبٌ ، فَأَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ حَارِثَةَ لَئِنْ كَانَ أَصَابَ خَيْرًا احْتَسَبْتُ وَصَبَرْتُ ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْ الْخَيْرَ اجْتَهَدْتُ فِي الدُّعَاءِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ إِنَّهَا جِنَانٌ فِي جَنَّةٍ ، وَإِنَّ ابْنَكِ أَصَابَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ الْأَعْلَى ، وَالْفِرْدَوْسُ رَبْوَةُ الْجَنَّةِ وَأَوْسَطُهَا وَأَفْضَلُهَا " ، قَالَ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ .
´Narrated Anas bin Malik:` that Ar-Rubai' bint An-Nadr came to the Prophet (ﷺ) - and her son Harithah bin Suraqah had been killed on the Day of Badr, having been struck by an arrow, shot by an unknown person - so she came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: "Inform me about Harithah. If he has reached goodness, I shall be forbearing and patient. If he has not reached goodness, I will struggle supplicating for him." So Allah's Prophet (ﷺ) said: "O Umm Harithah! There are gardens in Paradise, and verily your son Harithah has reached the highest part of Paradise, and Al-Firdaws is the highest part of Paradise, its most center and best."
Hadith 3231
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " سَامٌ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ ، وَحَامٌ أَبُو الْحَبَشِ ، وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الروم " .
´Narrated Samurah:` that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Sam was the father of Arabs, Ham the father of the Ethiopians, and Yafith the father of the Romans."
Hadith 3346
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ بَيْنَ النَّائِمِ وَالْيَقْظَانِ إِذْ سَمِعْتُ قَائِلًا يَقُولُ : أَحَدٌ بَيْنَ الثَّلَاثَةِ ، فَأُتِيتُ بِطَسْتٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فِيهَا مَاءُ زَمْزَمَ فَشَرَحَ صَدْرِي إِلَى كَذَا وَكَذَا ، قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : قُلْتُ لِأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : مَا يَعْنِي ؟ قَالَ : إِلَى أَسْفَلِ بَطْنِي ، فَاسْتُخْرِجَ قَلْبِي فَغُسِلَ قَلْبِي بِمَاءِ زَمْزَمَ ثُمَّ أُعِيدَ مَكَانَهُ ثُمَّ حُشِيَ إِيمَانًا وَحِكْمَةً " ، وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ قِصَّةٌ طَوِيلَةٌ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، وَهَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وَفِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ .
´Anas bin Malik narrated from Malik bin Sa’sa’ah – a man among his people – that :` the Prophet of Allah said: “While I was at the House, between sleeping and being awake, I heard someone saying: “The one in the middle of the three.’ I was brought a vessel of gold containing Zamzam water, so my chest was split, to here.’” – Qatadah said: “I said to Anas: ‘What does that mean?’ He said: ‘To the lowest part of his stomach.’” – He said: “So my heart was removed, and washed with Zamzam water, then returned to its placed. Then I was filled with Faith and wisdom.”There is a long story with this Hadith.
Hadith 3506
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمًا مِائَةً غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ " .
´Abu Hurairah [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated the the Prophet said:` “Indeed Allah has ninety-nine Names, one hundred less one, whoever counts them shall enter Paradise.”
Hadith 3697
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَعِدَ أُحُدًا , وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ , وَعُمَرُ , وَعُثْمَانُ فَرَجَفَ بِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اثْبُتْ أُحُدُ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ نَبِيٌّ , وَصِدِّيقٌ , وَشَهِيدَانِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Narrated Anas:` that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and 'Uthman climbed Uhud (mountain) and it shook them, so the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Be firm O Uhud! For there is none upon you except a Prophet, a Siddiq, and two martyrs."
Hadith 3931
حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ بَصْرِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " سَامٌ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ ، وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الرُّومِ ، وَحَامٌ أَبُو الْحَبَشِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ، وَيُقَالُ : يَافِثُ ، وَيَافِتُ ، وَيفِثُ .
´Narrated Samurah bin Jundab:` that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Sam was the father of Arabs, Yafith was the father of Romans, and Ham was the father of Ethiopians."
