Hadith 758
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَاضِرٌ أَبُو الْمُوَرِّعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ مَرْجَانَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَنْزِلُ اللَّهُ فِي السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا لِشَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ لِثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ الآخِرِ ، فَيَقُولُ : مَنْ يَدْعُونِي فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ ؟ أَوْ يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ " ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : مَنْ يُقْرِضُ غَيْرَ عَدِيمٍ وَلَا ظَلُومٍ ، قَالَ مُسْلِم ابْنُ مَرْجَانَةَ هُوَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَمَرْجَانَةُ أُمُّهُ ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah descends to the lowest heaven at half of the night or at one-third of the latter part and says: Who is there to supplicate Me so that I answer him? Who is there to ask Me so that I grant him? And then says: Who will lend to One Who is neither indigent nor tyrant? (This hadith has been narrated by Sa'd bin Sa'id with the same chain of transmitters with this addition:" Then the Blessed and the Exalted (Lord) stretches His Hands and says: Who will lend to One Who is neither indigent nor tyrant? )
Hadith 758
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، وَزَادَ ، ثُمَّ يَبْسُطُ يَدَيْهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ، يَقُولُ : مَنْ يُقْرِضُ غَيْرَ عَدُومٍ وَلَا ظَلُومٍ .
Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah waits till when one-third of the first part of the night is over; He descends to the lowest heaven and says: It there any supplicator of forgiveness? Is there any penitent? Is there any petitioner (for mercy and favour)? Is there any solicitor? -till it is daybreak.
Hadith 783
وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَحَبُّ الأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى أَدْوَمُهَا وَإِنْ قَلَّ " ، قَالَ : وَكَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ ، إِذَا عَمِلَتِ الْعَمَلَ لَزِمَتْهُ .
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The acts most pleasing to Allah are those which are done continuously, even if they are small. and when 'A'isha did any act she did it continuously.
Hadith 918
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ ، جميعا ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سَفِينَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ تُصِيبُهُ مُصِيبَةٌ ، فَيَقُولُ مَا أَمَرَهُ اللَّهُ : إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ ، اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي ، وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا ، إِلَّا أَخْلَفَ اللَّهُ لَهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا " . قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، قُلْتُ : أَيُّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَوَّلُ بَيْتٍ هَاجَرَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ إِنِّي قُلْتُهَا ، فَأَخْلَفَ اللَّهُ لِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَاطِبَ بْنَ أَبِي بَلْتَعَةَ يَخْطُبُنِي لَهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ لِي بِنْتًا وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ ، فَقَالَ : أَمَّا ابْنَتُهَا فَنَدْعُو اللَّهَ أَنْ يُغْنِيَهَا عَنْهَا ، وَأَدْعُو اللَّهَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ بِالْغَيْرَةِ .
Umm Salamah reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If any Muslim who suffers some calamity says, what Allah has commanded him," We belong to Allah and to Him shall we return; O Allah, reward me for my affliction and give me something better than it in exchange for it," Allah will give him something better than it in exchange. When Abu Salama died she said: What Muslim is better than Abu Salama whose family was the first to emigrate to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . I then said the words, and Allah gave me God's Messenger (ﷺ) in exchange. She said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Hatib bin Abu Balta'a to deliver me the message of marriage with him. I said to him: I have a daughter (as my dependant) and I am of jealous temperament. He (the Holy Prophet) said: So far as her daughter is concerned, we would supplicate Allah, that He may free her (of her responsibility) and I would also supplicate Allah to do away with (her) jealous (temperament).
Hadith 918
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ سَفِينَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، تَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ تُصِيبُهُ مُصِيبَةٌ فَيَقُولُ : إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ ، اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي ، وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا ، إِلَّا أَجَرَهُ اللَّهُ فِي مُصِيبَتِهِ ، وَأَخْلَفَ لَهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا " ، قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ قُلْتُ كَمَا أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْلَفَ اللَّهُ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Umm Salamah, the wife of the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) , reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If any servant (of Allah) who suffers a calamity says:" We belong to Allah and to Him shall we return; O Allah, reward me for my affliction and give me something better than it in exchange for it," ' Allah will give him reward for affliction, and would give him something better than it in exchange. She (Umm Salamah) said: When Abu Salama died. I uttered (these very words) as I was commanded (to do) by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . So Allah gave me better in exchange than him. i. e. (I was taken as the wife of) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 918
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سَفِينَةَ مَوْلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ، وَزَادَ ، قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ صَاحِبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ثُمَّ عَزَمَ اللَّهُ لِي ، فَقُلْتُهَا ، قَالَتْ : فَتَزَوَّجْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Umm Salamah, the wife of the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) , reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying like the hadith transmitted by Abu Usama, but with this addition that she said:" When Abu Salama died I said: Who is better than Abu Salama, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , and Allah decided for me and I said (these words contained in the supplication mentioned above) and I was married to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 1140
وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَمْرَةُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَوْمَيْنِ : يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ ، وَيَوْمِ الْأَضْحَى " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade to observe fast on two days-the day of Fitr and the day of Adha.
Hadith 1164
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ جميعا ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْخَزْرَجِيِّ ، 25 عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الله قَالَ : " مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ وَأَتْبَعَهُ سِتًّا مِنْ شَوّالٍ . كَانَ كَصِيَامِ الدّهْرِ " .
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal it would be as if he fasted perpetually.
Hadith 1164
وحدّثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . حَدّثَنَا أَبِي . حَدّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَخُ وَيَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : بِمِثْلِهِ ،
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari reported (through another chain of transmitters): I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying like this.
Hadith 1164
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : بِمِثْلِهِ .
Abu Ayyub reported a hadith like this (through another chain of transmitters).
Hadith 2040
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَدْعُوَهُ وَقَدْ جَعَلَ طَعَامًا ، قَالَ : فَأَقْبَلْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ النَّاسِ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَجِبْ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ ، فَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ : " قُومُوا " ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّمَا صَنَعْتُ لَكَ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ : فَمَسَّهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَدَعَا فِيهَا بِالْبَرَكَةِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَدْخِلْ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِي عَشَرَةً " ، وَقَالَ : " كُلُوا وَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ شَيْئًا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصَابِعِهِ " فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا فَخَرَجُوا ، فَقَالَ : " أَدْخِلْ عَشَرَةً " ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا فَمَا زَالَ يُدْخِلُ عَشَرَةً وَيُخْرِجُ عَشَرَةً حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا دَخَلَ ، فَأَكَلَ حَتَّى شَبِعَ ثُمَّ هَيَّأَهَا ، فَإِذَا هِيَ مِثْلُهَا حِينَ أَكَلُوا مِنْهَا .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: Abu Talha sent me to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in order to invite him (for meal). She had prepared a meal. So I came and found Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) along with some people. He looked at me, and I felt shy and said: Accept the invitation of Abu Talha. He (the Holy Prophet) asked the people to get up. Thereupon Abu Talha said: Allah's Messenger, I have prepared something for you. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) touched (the food) and invoked blessings upon it, and then said: Let ten persons from my Companions enter (the house). He then said: Eat, and (in the meanwhile) brought out something from between his fingers for them. They then began to eat until they had their fill and then went out. He then asked ten more men (to have the meal) and they ate to their fill, and the ten persons went on getting in (and eating the food) and then getting out until none was left amongst them who had not got in and eaten to his fill. He then collected (the remaining part of the food) and it (the quantity of the food) was the same (as it had been prior to the serving of guests).
Hadith 2040
وحَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَي الْأُمَوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ نُمَيْر ٍ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي آخِرِهِ : " ثُمَّ أَخَذَ مَا بَقِيَ فَجَمَعَهُ ثُمَّ دَعَا فِيهِ بِالْبَرَكَةِ " ، قَالَ : فَعَادَ كَمَا كَانَ ، فَقَالَ دُونَكُمْ هَذَا .
Anas b Malik reported: Abu Talha sent me to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ; the rest of the hadith is the same, but 'there is a slight variation of wording that he said at the end (The Holy Prophet) took what was left (of the food) and collected it and then invoked blessings upon it and it returned to its original state. He (the Holy Prophet) then said: Take this.
