‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Which deed is the best? He replied: “Performing prayer at its proper time.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Then which deed is better? He replied: “Treating parents with kindness.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Then which deed? He replied: “Striving in the path of Allah.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became silent, and if I had asked more, he would have told me more. 1.
