Hadith 380
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ : أَنَّهَا " كَانَتْ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْتَسِلَانِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ " .
´Zainab the daughter of Umm Salamah narrated from Umm Salamah that:` She and the Messenger of Allah used to take a bath from a single vessel.
Hadith 491
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَتِفِ شَاةٍ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ ، وَصَلَّى ، وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ مَاءً " .
´It was narrated that Umm Salamah said:` "Some meat from the shoulder of a sheep was brought to the Messenger of Allah and he ate some of it, then he performed prayer without touching water (for ablution)."
Hadith 600
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا أَمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فَسَأَلَتْهُ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ " ، فَقُلْتُ : فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ ، وَهَلْ تَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ ، فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُهَا وَلَدُهَا إِذًا " .
´It was narrated from Zainab, the daughter of Umm Salamah, that :` Her mother Umm Salamah said: "Umm Sulaim came to the Prophet and asked him about a woman who sees in her dream something like a man sees. He said: 'Yes, if she sees water (discharge), let her take a bath.' I said: 'You have embarrassed the women. Do women experience wet dreams?' The Prophet said: 'May your hands be rubbed with dust, how else does her child resemble her?'"
Hadith 957
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ ، وَسُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ فِرَاشُهَا بِحِيَالِ مَسْجَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It was narrated from Zainab bint Umm Salamah that her mother said that her bed was in front of the place where the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prostrated.
Hadith 1617
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ أَمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " كَسْرُ عَظْمِ الْمَيِّتِ كَكَسْرِ عَظْمِ الْحَيِّ فِي الْإِثْمِ " .
´It was narrated from Umm Salamah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Breaking the bones of the deceased is, in sin, like breaking his bones when he is alive.”
Hadith 1835
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ " ، فَقَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : أَيُجْزِينِي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ عَلَى زَوْجِي وَهُوَ فَقِيرٌ ، وَبَنِي أَخٍ لِي أَيْتَامٍ ، وَأَنَا أُنْفِقُ عَلَيْهِمْ هَكَذَا ، وَهَكَذَا ، وَعَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ ؟ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قَالَ : " وَكَانَتْ صَنَاعَ الْيَدَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that:` Umm Salamah said: “The Messenger of Allah enjoined charity upon us. Zainab, the wife of Abdullah said: 'Will it be accepted as charity on my part if I give charity to my husband who is poor, and to the children of a brother of mine who are orphans, spending such and such on them, and in all circumstances?' He said: 'Yes.'”
Hadith 1902
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَسَمِعَ مُخَنَّثًا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ : إِنْ يَفْتَحْ اللَّهُ الطَّائِفَ غَدًا ، دَلَلْتُكَ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ تُقْبِلُ بِأَرْبَعٍ ، وَتُدْبِرُ بِثَمَانٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَخْرِجُوهُ مِنْ بُيُوتِكُمْ " .
´It was narrated from Umm Salamah:` that the Prophet Mohammad entered upon her, and he heard an effeminate man say to 'Abdullah bin Abu Umayyah: “If Allah enables you to conquer Ta'if tommorrow, I will show you a woman who comes in on four (rolls of fat) and goes out on eight.” The Messenger of Allah said: “Throw them out of your houses.”
Hadith 1939
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ حَدَّثَتْهَا ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : انْكِحْ أُخْتِي عَزَّةَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَتُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكِ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَلَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ ، وَأَحَقُّ مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِي " ، قَالَتْ : فَإِنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ ، أَنَّكَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَنْكِحَ دُرَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ " ، قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَإِنَّهَا لَوْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي فِي حَجْرِي مَا حَلَّتْ لِي ، إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَرْضَعَتْنِي ، وَأَبَاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ ، فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ ، وَلَا بَنَاتِكُنَّ " .
´It was narrated from 'Urwah bin Zubair that Zainab bint Abi Salmah told him that Umm Habibah told her that she said to Messenger of Allah:` “Marry my sister 'Azzah.” The Messenger of Allah said: 'Would you like that? “She said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah. I am not the only one living with you and the one who most deserves to share good thingswith me is my sister.” The Messenger of Allah said: “But that is not permissible for me.” She said: “But we throught that you wanted to marry Durrah bint Abi Salmah.” The Messenger of Allah said: The daughter of Umm Salamah?” She said: “Yes” The Messenger of Allah said: “Even if she were not my step-daughter who is under my care, she would not be permissible for me, because she is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. Tuwaibah breastfed both her father and I. So do not offer your sisters and daughters to me for marriage.”
Hadith 1939M
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوهُ .
'With this chain also,' it is narrated from Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) in the same manner.
Hadith 1947
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، وَعُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ : " أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلَّهُنَّ خَالَفْنَ عَائِشَةَ وَأَبَيْنَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَحَدٌ بِمِثْلِ رَضَاعَةِ سَالِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ " ، وَقُلْنَ : وَمَا يُدْرِينَا لَعَلَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَتْ رُخْصَةً لِسَالِمٍ وَحْدَهُ .
´It was narrated from Zainab bint Abi Salamah:` that the wives of the Prophet all differed with 'Aishah and refused to allow anyone with ties of breastfeeding like Salim, the freed salve of Abu Hudhaifah, to enter upon them. They said: “How do we know? That may be a concession granted only to Salim.”
Hadith 2084
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ تُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَأُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ ، تَذْكُرَانِ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ ابْنَةً لَهَا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا ، فَاشْتَكَتْ عَيْنُهَا ، فَهِيَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَكْحَلَهَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ كَانَتْ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَرْمِي بِالْبَعْرَةِ عِنْدَ رَأْسِ الْحَوْلِ ، وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا " .
´It was narrated from Humaid bin Nafi' that:` he heard Zainab the daughter of Umm Salamah narrating that she heard Umm Salamah and Umm Habibah mention that a woman came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said that her daughter's husband had died, and she was suffering from an eye disease, and she wanted to apply kohl to her eyes (as a remedy). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "One of you would throw a she-camel's dropping when a year had passed (since the death of her husband. Rather it is four months and ten (days)."
Hadith 2317
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ إِلَيَّ وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ وَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَلْحَنَ بِحُجَّتِهِ مِنْ بَعْضٍ وَإِنَّمَا أَقْضِي بَيْنَكُمْ عَلَى نَحْوٍ مِمَّا أَسْمَعُ مِنْكُمْ فَمَنْ قَضَيْتُ لَهُ مِنْ حَقِّ أَخِيهِ شَيْئًا فَلَا يَأْخُذْهُ فَإِنَّمَا أَقْطَعُ لَهُ قِطْعَةً مِنَ النَّارِ يَأْتِي بِهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
´It was narrated from Umm Salamah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “You refer your disputes to me and I am only human. Perhaps some of you may be more eloquent in presenting your case than others, so I rule in your favor because of what I hear from you. If I pass a judgement in favor of one of you that detracts from his brother's rights, then he should not take it, because it is a piece of fire that is given to him which he will bring forth on the Day Resurrection.”
Hadith 2614
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَسَمِعَ مُخَنَّثًا ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ ، إِنْ يَفْتَحْ اللَّهُ الطَّائِفَ غَدًا ، دَلَلْتُكَ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ تُقْبِلُ بِأَرْبَعٍ ، وَتُدْبِرُ بِثَمَانٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَخْرِجُوهُمْ مِنْ بُيُوتِكُمْ " .

Hadith 2961
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ " أَنَّهَا مَرِضَتْ فَأَمَرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنْ تَطُوفَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّاسِ وَهِيَ رَاكِبَةٌ ، قَالَتْ : فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي إِلَى الْبَيْتِ ، وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ : وَالطُّورِ { 1 } وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ { 2 } سورة الطور آية 1-2 " ، قَالَ ابْن مَاجَةَ : هَذَا حَدِيثُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ .
´It was narrated from Umm Salamah that she fell sick, so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) told her to perform Tawaf from behind the people, riding. She said:` “I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) praying facing the House, and reciting: “By the Tur (Mount), And by the Book Inscribed.’” [52:1-2]
Hadith 3953
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُرْوَةَ , عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ حَبِيبَةَ , عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ , عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ , أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ وَهُوَ مُحْمَرٌّ وَجْهُهُ , وَهُوَ يَقُولُ :" لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ , وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَبِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ , فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ , وَمَأْجُوجَ " وَعَقَدَ بِيَدَيْهِ عَشَرَةً , قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَنَهْلِكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ , قَالَ : " إِذَا كَثُرَ الْخَبَثُ " .
´It was narrated that Zainab bint Jahsh said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) woke up red in the face and said: ‘La ilaha illallah, woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn nigh. Today a hole has been opened in the barrier of Gog and Magog.’ And he gestured to indicate the size of the hole.” Zainab said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Will we be destroyed when there are righteous people among us?’ He said: ‘If sin and evil deeds increase.’”
