Hadith 17
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، وَأَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ جَالِسًا إِلَى جَنْبِهِ ابْنُ أَخٍ لَهُ ، فَخَذَفَ فَنَهَاهُ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْهَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهَا لَا تَصِيدُ صَيْدًا ، وَلَا تَنْكِي عَدُوًّا ، وَإِنَّهَا تَكْسِرُ السِّنَّ ، وَتَفْقَأُ الْعَيْنَ " ، قَالَ : فَعَادَ ابْنُ أَخِيهِ يَخْذِفُ ، فَقَالَ : أُحَدِّثُكَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْهَا " ، ثُمَّ عُدْتَ تَخْذِفُ ، لَا أُكَلِّمُكَ أَبَدًا .
´It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Jubair that :` Abdullah bin Mughaffal was sitting beside a nephew of his, the nephew hurled a pebble and he told him not to do that, and he said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had forbidden that. He (the Prophet) said: 'It cannot be used for hunting and it cannot harm an enemy, but it may break a tooth or put an eye out." He said." His nephew hurled another pebble and he ("Abdullah bin Mughaffal) said: 'I tell you that the Messenger of Allah forbade that (and you go hurl another pebble)? I will never speak to you again.'"
Hadith 686
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَبَسَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى غَابَتِ الشَّمْس ، فَقَالَ : " حَبَسُونَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى ، مَلَأَ اللَّهُ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا " .
´It was narrated that 'Abdullah said:` "The idolaters kept the Prophet from the 'Asr prayer until the sun had set. He said: 'They kept us from performing the middle prayer; may Allah fill their graves and their houses with fire.'"
Hadith 1179
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي آخِرِ وِتْرِهِ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سُخْطِكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Ali bin Abi Talib that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say at the end of Witr:` “Allahumma inni a’udhu biridaka min sakhatika, wa a’udhu bimu’afatika min ‘uqubatika, wa a’udhu bika minka, la uhsi thana’an ‘alaika, Anta kama athnaita ‘ala nafsika (O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and I seek refuge in Your forgiveness from your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot enumerate Your praise, You are as You have praised Yourself).”
Hadith 1826
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَدَقَةَ الْفِطْرِ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، عَلَى كُلِّ حُرٍّ ، أَوْ عَبْدٍ ذَكَرٍ ، أَوْ أُنْثَى مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ " .
´It was narrated that:` Umar said: “The Messenger of Allah enjoined Sadaqatul-Fitr, one Sa, of barley or one Sa of dates for every Muslim, free or slave, male or female.”
Hadith 1889
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : أَنَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعْطِهَا وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ " ، فَقَالَ : لَيْسَ مَعِي ، قَالَ : " قَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَهَا عَلَى مَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ " .
´It was narrated that:` Sahl bin Sa'd said: “A woman came to the Prophet and he said: 'Who will marry her ?' A man said: 'I will.' The Prophet said: 'Give her something, even if it is an iron ring.' He said: 'I do not have one.' He said: 'I marry her to you for what you know of the Quran.'”
Hadith 1974
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ وَالصُّلْحُ خَيْرٌ سورة النساء آية 128 فِي رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ تَحْتَهُ امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ طَالَتْ صُحْبَتُهَا ، وَوَلَدَتْ مِنْهُ أَوْلَادًا ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْتَبْدِلَ بِهَا ، فَرَاضَتْهُ عَلَى أَنْ تُقِيمَ عِنْدَهُ وَلَا يَقْسِمَ لَهَا " .
´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "This Verse 'And making peace is better.' was revealed concerning a man who had been married to a woman for a long time, and she had given birth to his children and he wanted to exchange her (for a new wife). She agreed that he would stay with her (the new wife) and would not give her (the first wife) a share of his time. (i.e.) not spend the nights with her)."
Hadith 1982
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْقَاضِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كُنْتُ أَلْعَبُ بِالْبَنَاتِ ، وَأَنَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَ يُسَرِّبُ إِلَيَّ صَوَاحِبَاتِي يُلَاعِبْنَنِي " .
´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "I used to play with dolls when I was with the Messenger of Allah, and he used to bring my friends to me to play with me."
Hadith 1989
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ " ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ ، يُقَالُ لَهَا : أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ ، فَجَاءَتْ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَتْ : بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ ، أَنَّكَ قُلْتَ : كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ ، قَالَ : وَمَا لِي لَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَتْ : إِنِّي لَأَقْرَأُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَيْهِ ، فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ ، قَالَ : إِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِهِ فَقَدْ وَجَدْتِهِ أَمَا قَرَأْتِ وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا سورة الحشر آية 7 ، قَالَتْ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْهُ ، قَالَتْ : فَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّ أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَ ، قَالَ : اذْهَبِي فَانْظُرِي ، فَذَهَبَتْ فَنَظَرَتْ ، فَلَمْ تَرَ مِنْ حَاجَتِهَا شَيْئًا ، قَالَتْ : مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : لَوْ كَانَتْ كَمَا تَقُولِينَ مَا جَامَعَتْنَا .
´It was narrated that 'Abdulleh said:` "The Messenger of Allah cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, and those who pluck their eyebrows and file their teeth for the purpose of beautification, and those who change the creation of Allah." News of that reached a woman of Banu Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub. She came to him and said: "I have heard that you said such and such." He said: 'Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah cursed ? And it is in the Book of Allah.'' She said: "I read what is between its two covers 'and I have not found that." He said: "If you read it properly you would have found it. Have you not read the words: 'And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it).'?" She said: "Of course." He said: 'The Messenger of Allah forbade that." She said: 'I think that your wife does it.' He said: " Go and look." So she went and looked and she did not see what she wanted. She said: "I have not seen anything!’ 'Abdullah said: "If she was as you say, I would not have kept her with me. "
Hadith 2272
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اشْتَرَى صَفِيَّةَ بِسَبْعَةِ أَرْؤُسٍ " ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ : مِنْ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ .
´It was narrated from Anas that :` the Prophet (ﷺ) bought Safiyyah for seven slaves. (Sahih) (One of the narrators) 'Abdur-Rahman said: "From Dihyah Kalbi.'
Hadith 2445
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : " نَشَأْتُ يَتِيمًا وَهَاجَرْتُ مِسْكِينًا وَكُنْتُ أَجِيرًا لِابْنَةِ غَزْوَانَ بِطَعَامِ بَطْنِي وَعُقْبَةِ رِجْلِي ، أَحْطِبُ لَهُمْ إِذَا نَزَلُوا وَأَحْدُو لَهُمْ إِذَا رَكِبُوا ، فَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ الدِّينَ قِوَامًا وَجَعَلَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ إِمَامًا " .
´Salim bin Hayyan said:` I heard Abu Hurairah say: “I grew up an orphan, and I emigrated as a poor man, and I was hired by the daughter of Ghazwan in return for food and a turn riding the camel. I would gather firewood for them when they stopped to camp and urge their camels along for them by singing when they rode. Praise is to Allah (SWT) who has caused His religion to prevail and has made Abu Hurairah an Imam.”
Hadith 2835
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، أَنْبَأَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ الرُّمَّانِيِّ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : هُوَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادٍ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ يُقْسِمُ : لَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الرَّهْطِ السِّتَّةِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ هَذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ سورة الحج آية 19 إِلَى قَوْلِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُ سورة الحج آية 14 فِي حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، وَعُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، وَعُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، وَشَيْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، وَالْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي الْحُجَجِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ " .
´It was narrated that Qais bin ‘Ubaid said:` “I heard Abu Dharr swearing that these verses were revealed concerning those six people on the Day of Badr: ‘These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord.”[22:19] to the words “Verily, Allah does what he wills.’[22:14] (that is) Hamzah bin ‘Abdul-Muttalib, ‘Ali bin Abi Talib, ‘Ubaidah bin Al-Harith, ‘Utbah bin Rabi’ah, Shaibah bin Rabi’ah and Al-Walid bin ‘Utbah. They argued with one another on the Day of Badr.”
Hadith 2879
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، وَأَبُو عُمَرَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُسَافَرَ بِالْقُرْآنِ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْعَدُوِّ ، مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَنَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade traveling with the Qur’an to the land of the enemy, lest the enemy gets hold of it.
Hadith 3524
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ ثُوَيْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُنِي , فَقَالَ لِي : " أَلَا أَرْقِيكَ بِرُقْيَةٍ جَاءَنِي بِهَا جِبْرَائِيلُ ؟ قُلْتُ : بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي , بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيكَ , وَاللَّهُ يَشْفِيكَ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ فِيكَ , مِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ , وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) came to visit me (when I was sick), and said to me: ‘Shall I not recite for you a Ruqyah that Jibra’il brought to me?’ I said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you! Yes, O Messenger of Allah!’ He said: Bismillah arqika, wallahu yashfika, min kulli da’in fika, min sharrin- naffathati fil-‘uqad, wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad (In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from every disease that is in you, and from the evil of those who (practice witchcraft when they) blow in the knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies), three times.”
Hadith 3811
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ , عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ , عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " أَرْبَعٌ أَفْضَلُ الْكَلَامِ لَا يَضُرُّكَ بِأَيِّهِنَّ بَدَأْتَ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ , وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ , وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ , وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ " .
´It was narrated from Samurah bin Jundab that :` the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "(There are) four that are the best of words, and it does not matter with which you begin: Subhan-Allah, wal-Hamdu-Lillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wa Allahu Akbar (Glory is to Allah, praise is to Allah, none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Allah is the Most Great)."
