Hadith 62
حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَرْغَبُوا عَنْ آبَائِكُمْ ، فَمَنْ رَغِبَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ فَهُوَ كُفْرٌ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: Do not detest your fathers; he who detested his father committed infidelity.
Hadith 334
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عِرَاكٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " إِنَّ أَمَّ حَبِيبَةَ ، سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الدَّمِ ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : رَأَيْتُ مِرْكَنَهَا مَلآنَ دَمًا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : امْكُثِي قَدْرَ مَا كَانَتْ تَحْبِسُكِ حَيْضَتُكِ ، ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي وَصَلِّي " .
On the authority of 'A'isha: Umm Habiba asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about the blood (which flows beyond the period of menstruation). 'A'isha said: I saw her wash-tub full of blood. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Remain away (from prayer) equal (to the length of time) that your menses prevented you. After this (after the period of usual courses) bathe yourself and offer prayer.
Hadith 334
حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ قُرَيْشٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ بَكْرِ بْنِ مُضَرَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " إِنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ ، التِي كَانَتْ تَحْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، شَكَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الدَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : امْكُثِي قَدْرَ مَا كَانَتْ تَحْبِسُكِ حَيْضَتُكِ ، ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي ، فَكَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ " .
'A'isha, the wife of the Apostle (ﷺ) , said: Umm Habiba bin Jahsh who was the spouse of Abdul Rahman bin Auf made a complaint to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about blood (which flows beyond the menstrual period). He said to her: Remain away (from prayer) equal (to the length of time) that your menstruation holds you back. After this, bathe yourself. And she washed herself before every prayer.
Hadith 356
قَالَ عَمْرٌو : حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِذَلِكَ .
This hadith has been narrated by Ibn 'Abbas on the authority of Maimuna the wife of the Apostle (ﷺ) , by another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 366
وحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ وَعْلَةَ السَّبَئيِّ ، قَالَ : " سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّا نَكُونُ بِالْمَغْرِبِ ، فَيَأْتِينَا الْمَجُوسُ بِالأَسْقِيَةِ ، فِيهَا الْمَاءُ وَالْوَدَكُ ، فَقَالَ : اشْرَبْ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَرَأْيٌ تَرَاهُ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " دِبَاغُهُ طَهُورُهُ " .
Ibn Wa'la al-Saba'i reported: I asked 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas saying: We are the inhabitants of the western regions. The Magians come to us with skins full of water and fat. He said: Drink. I said to him: Is it your own opinion? Ibn Abbas (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Tanning purifies it (the skin).
Hadith 369
قَالَ مُسْلِم : وَرَوَى اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ ، يَقُولُ : أَقْبَلْتُ أَنَا وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي الْجَهْمِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الصِّمَّةِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو الْجَهْمِ : أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ نَحْوَ بِئْرِ جَمَلٍ ، فَلَقِيَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ ، حَتَّى أَقْبَلَ عَلَى الْجِدَارِ ، فَمَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام " .
Umair, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, reported: I and 'Abdul Rahmin bin Yasir, the freed slave of Maimuna, the wife of the Apostle (ﷺ) came to the house of Abu'l-Jahm bin al-Harith al-Simma Ansari and he said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came from the direction of Bi'r Jamal and a man met him; he saluted him but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) made no response, till he (the Holy Prophet) came to the wall, wiped his face and hands and then returned his salutations.
Hadith 429
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادٍ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ ، عَنْ رَفْعِهِمْ أَبْصَارَهُمْ عِنْدَ الدُّعَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، أَوْ لَتُخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارُهُمْ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: People should avoid lifting their eyes towards the sky while supplicating in prayer, otherwise their eyes would be snatched away.
Hadith 495
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُضَرَ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى ، فَرَّجَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ " .
'Abdullah bin Malik ibn Bujainah reported: When the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated, he spread out his arms so that the whiteness of his armpits was visible.
Hadith 495
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، وَاللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ كلاهما ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، كَانَ َرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذَا سَجَدَ ، يُجَنِّحُ فِي سُجُودِهِ ، حَتَّى يُرَى وَضَحُ إِبْطَيْهِ ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ اللَّيْثِ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ إِذَا سَجَدَ ، فَرَّجَ يَدَيْهِ عَنْ إِبْطَيْهِ ، حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَرَى بَيَاضَ إِبْطَيْهِ " .
This hadith has been narrated by Ja'far bin Rabi' with the same chain of transmitters. And in the narration transmitted by 'Amr bin al-Harith (the words are): "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prostrated, he spread out his arms so that the whiteness of his armpits was visible." And in the narration transmitted by al-Laith (the words are: "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prostrated, he spread his hands from the armpits so that I saw their whiteness."
Hadith 1558
قَالَ مُسْلِم : وَرَوَى اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي حَدْرَدٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، فَلَقِيَهُ فَلَزِمَهُ ، فَتَكَلَّمَا حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمَا ، فَمَرَّ بِهِمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا كَعْبُ " ، فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ كَأَنَّهُ يَقُولُ : النِّصْفَ ، فَأَخَذَ نِصْفًا مِمَّا عَلَيْهِ وَتَرَكَ نِصْفًا .
Ka'b bin Malik reported that he made a demand for the payment of the debt that Ibn Abu Hadrad owed to him. This hadith is narrated through another chain of transmitters and (the words are):" He had to get the loan from'Abdullah bin Hadrad al-Aslami. He met him and pressed him for payment. There was an altercation between them, until their voices became loud. There happened to pass by them Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and he said: O Ka'b, and pointed out with his hand in such a way as he meant half. So he got half of what he (Ibn Abu Hadrad) owed to him and remitted the half."
Hadith 2709
وحَدَّثَنِي عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ ، أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ لَهُ أَنَّ أَبَا صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى غَطَفَانَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَدَغَتْنِي عَقْرَبٌ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ .
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2729
حَدَّثَنِي قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ فَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا ، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نَهِيقَ الْحِمَارِ فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ شَيْطَانًا " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying. When you listen to the crowing of the cock, ask Allah for His favour as it sees Angels and when you listen to the braying of the donkey, seek refuge in Allah from the Satan for it sees Satan.
Hadith 2803
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ قُرَيْشٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ بَكْرِ بْنِ مُضَرَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْقَمَرَ انْشَقَّ عَلَى زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Ibn 'Abbas reported that the moon was split up during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him).
