Hadith 159
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ ، قَالَ : مَا حَجَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ ، وَلَا رَآنِي إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ فِي وَجْهِي ، وَلَقَدْ شَكَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ أَنِّي لَا أَثْبُتُ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ ، فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ فِي صَدْرِي ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ وَاجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا " .
´It was narrated that Jarir bin 'Abdullah Al-Bajali said:` "The Messenger of Allah never refused to see me from the time I became Muslim, and whenever he saw me he would smile at me. I complained to him that I could not sit firmly on a horse, so he struck me on the chest with his hand and said: 'O Allah, make him firm and cause him to guide others and be rightly-guided.'"
Hadith 177
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، وَوَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِي يَعْلَى ، وَوَكِيعٌ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ هَذَا الْقَمَرَ ، لَا تَضَامُّونَ فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا فَافْعَلُوا " ثُمَّ قَرَأَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ سورة ق آية 39 .
´It was narrated that Jarir bin 'Abdullah said:` "We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah. He looked at the moon, which was full, and said, 'Indeed, you will see your Lord as you see this moon. You will not feel the slightest inconvenience and overcrowding in seeing Him. If you have the power not to be overcome and to say this prayer before the sun rises and before it sets, then do that.' Then he recited: "And glorify the praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting."
Hadith 203
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً فَعُمِلَ بِهَا ، كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُهَا وَمِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْئًا ، وَمَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً فَعُمِلَ بِهَا ، كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ لَا يَنْقُصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْئًا " .
´It was narrated from Mundhir bin Jarir that his father said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever introduces a good practice that is followed, he will receive its reward and a reward equivalent to that of those who follow it, without that detracting from their reward in their slightest. And whoever introduces a bad practice that is followed, he will receive its sin and a burden of sin equivalent to that of those who follow it, without that detracting from their burden in the slightest.'"
Hadith 359
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَخَلَ الْغَيْضَةَ فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ ، فَأَتَاهُ جَرِيرٌ بِإِدَاوَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَاسْتَنْجَى مِنْهَا ، وَمَسَحَ يَدَهُ بِالتُّرَابِ " .
´Ibrahim bin Jarir narrated from his father that :` The Prophet of Allah entered a thicket and relieved himself, then Jarir brought him a small water skin from which he cleansed himself, then he wiped his hand in the dirt.
Hadith 543
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، قَالَ : " بَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : أَتَفْعَلُ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : " وَمَا يَمْنَعُنِي وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ " ، قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ : كَانَ يُعْجِبُهُمْ حَدِيثُ جَرِيرٍ لِأَنَّ إِسْلَامَهُ كَانَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ .
´It was narrated that Hammam bin Harith said:` "Jarir bin 'Abdullah urinated, then he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks. Someone asked him: 'Do you do this?' He said: 'Why shouldn't I? I saw the Messenger of Allah doing this.'" Ibrahim (who narrated it from Hammam) said: "They were pleased by the Hadith of Jarir because he accepted Islam after the revelation of Ma'idah."
Hadith 1555
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مُوسَى السُّدِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْيَقْظَانِ ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّحْدُ لَنَا ، وَالشَّقُّ لِغَيْرِنَا " .
´It was narrated that Jarir bin ‘Abdullah Al-Bajali said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The niche-grave is for us and the ditch-grave is for others.’”
Hadith 1612
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَرَى الِاجْتِمَاعَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْمَيِّتِ وَصَنْعَةَ الطَّعَامِ مِنَ النِّيَاحَةِ " .
´It was narrated that Jarir bin ‘Abdullah Al-Bajali said:` “We used to think that gathering with the family of the deceased and preparing food was a form of wailing.”
Hadith 1802
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَرْجِعُ الْمُصَدِّقُ إِلَّا عَنْ رِضًا " .
´Jarir bin Abdullah narrated that:` the Messenger of Allah said: “The Zakat collector should not come back unless the people are pleased with him.”
Hadith 2503
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ التَّيْمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ خَالُ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي بِالْبَوَازِيجِ فَرَاحَتِ الْبَقَرُ فَرَأَى بَقَرَةً أَنْكَرَهَا ، فَقَالَ : مَا هَذِهِ ؟ قَالُوا : بَقَرَةٌ لَحِقَتْ بِالْبَقَرِ ، قَالَ : فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَطُرِدَتْ حَتَّى تَوَارَتْ ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ إِلَّا ضَالٌّ " .
´It was narrated that Mundhir bin Jarir said:` “I was with my father in Bawazij and the cows came back in the evening. He saw a cow did not recognize it. He said: 'What is this?' He said: 'A cow that joined the herd.' And he issued orders that it be driven away until it disappeared from view. Then he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “No one gives refuge to a stray animal but one who is also astray.”
Hadith 3687
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ , عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ يُحْرَمْ الرِّفْقَ يُحْرَمْ الْخَيْرَ " .
´It was narrated from Jarir bin Abdullah Al-Bajali that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:` "Whoever is deprived of gentleness, he is deprived of goodness."
Hadith 3942
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ , وَعْبَدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ : " اسْتَنْصِتِ النَّاسَ " , فَقَالَ : " لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " .
´It was narrated from Jarir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, during the Farewell Pilgrimage:` “Make the people pay attention.” Then he said: “Do not turn back into disbelievers after I am gone, striking one another’s necks.”
Hadith 4009
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يُعْمَلُ فِيهِمْ بِالْمَعَاصِي , هُمْ أَعَزُّ مِنْهُمْ وَأَمْنَعُ , لَا يُغَيِّرُونَ , إِلَّا عَمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ بِعِقَابٍ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Ubaidullah bin Jarir that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘There is no people among whom sins are committed when they are stronger and of a higher status (i.e. they have the power and ability to stop the sinners) and they do not change them, but Allah will send His punishment upon them all.’”
