Hadith 110
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا قِلَابَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ ثَابِتَ بْنَ الضَّحَّاكِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ بَايَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ ، وَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ بِمِلَّةٍ غَيْرِ الإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا ، فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ ، وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ ، عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَلَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ نَذْرٌ فِي شَيْءٍ لَا يَمْلِكُهُ " .
Thabit bin Dahhak reported that he pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) under the Tree, and verily the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed: He who took an oath of a religion other than Islam, in the state of being a liar, would became so, as he professed. He who killed himself with a thing would be tormented on the Day of Resurrection with that very thing. One is not obliged to offer votive offering of a thing which is not in his possession.
Hadith 110
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو غَسَّانَ الْمِسْمَعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ نَذْرٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ، وَلَعْنُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَقَتْلِهِ ، وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنِ ادَّعَى دَعْوَى كَاذِبَةً لِيَتَكَثَّرَ بِهَا ، لَمْ يَزِدْهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا قِلَّةً ، وَمَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينِ صَبْرٍ ، فَاجِرَةٍ " .

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ كلهم ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ بِمِلَّةٍ سِوَى الإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا مُتَعَمِّدًا ، فَهْوَ كَمَا قَالَ ، وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ ، عَذَّبَهُ اللَّهُ بِهِ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ " ، هَذَا حَدِيثُ سُفْيَانَ ، وَأَمَّا شُعْبَةُ فَحَدِيثُهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ بِمِلَّةٍ سِوَى الإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا ، فَهْوَ كَمَا قَالَ ، وَمَنْ ذَبَحَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ ، ذُبِحَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Thabit bin al-Dahhak that the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) observes: None is obliged to give votive offering (of a thing) which is not in his possession and the cursing of a believer is tantamount to killing him, and he who killed himself with a thing in this world would be tormented with that (very thing) on the Day of Resurrection, and he who made a false claim to increase (his wealth), Allah would make no addition but that of paucity, and he who perjured would earn the wrath of God
Hadith 1549
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَعْقِلٍ : عَنِ الْمُزَارَعَةِ ، فَقَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ثَابِتُ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ: أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَهَى عَنِ الْمُزَارَعَةِ " ، وَفِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ : نَهَى عَنْهَا ، وَقَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ مَعْقِلٍ : وَلَمْ يُسَمِّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ .
Abdullah bin al Sa'ib reported: I asked'Abdullah bin Ma'qil about Muzara'a (cultivating land on share basis in the produce). He said: Thabit bin Dahhak informed me that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade Muzara'a as Ibn Abu Shaiba forbade it with a slight change of words. He (the narrator) said: I asked Ibn Ma'qil but he did not name 'Abdullah.
Hadith 1549
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ ، فَسَأَلْنَاهُ : عَنِ الْمُزَارَعَةِ ، فَقَالَ : زَعَمَ ثَابِتٌ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَهَى عَنِ الْمُزَارَعَةِ ، وَأَمَرَ بِالْمُؤَاجَرَةِ " ، وَقَالَ : لَا بَأْسَ بِهَا .
Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib reported: We visited 'Abdullah bin Ma'qil and asked him about sharing of crops, whereupon he said: Thabit alleged that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade Muzara'a and commanded leasing it out on rent (for money) and said: There is no harm in it.
