Hadith 173
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا ، قَالَ لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ : أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى مَوَاقِيتِهَا " , قُلْتُ : وَمَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ " , قُلْتُ : وَمَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَهَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى الْمَسْعُودِيُّ , وَشُعْبَةُ ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ هُوَ أَبُو إِسْحَاق الشَّيْبَانِيُّ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ .
´Abu Amr Ash-Shaibani narrated:` "A man said to Ibn Mas'ud: 'Which deed is most virtuous?' He said: 'I asked Allah's Messenger (that). He said: "Salat at the beginning of its time." I asked him: "What is after that O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Being dutiful to one's parents." I said: "What is after that [O Messenger of Allah]?" He said: "Jihad in the Way of Allah."
Hadith 1898
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنِ الْمَسْعُودِيِّ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ، عَنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : " الصَّلَاةُ لِمِيقَاتِهَا " ، قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ " ، قُلْتُ : ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " ، ثُمَّ سَكَتَ عَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَوِ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ، رَوَاهُ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، وَشُعْبَةُ ، وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، وأَبُو عَمْروٍ الشَّيْبَانِيَّ اسْمُهُ سَعْدُ .
‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Which deed is the best? He replied: “Performing prayer at its proper time.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Then which deed is better? He replied: “Treating parents with kindness.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Then which deed? He replied: “Striving in the path of Allah.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became silent, and if I had asked more, he would have told me more. 1. Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is hasan sahih (good and authentic),
2- It has been narrated by Abu ‘Amr Shaybani, Shu’bah, and several others from Walid bin ‘Aizar,
3- This hadith has also come from Ibn Mas’ud through other chains via Abu ‘Amr Shaybani.

Hadith 3225
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَيْزَارِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ كِنَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ : " ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا الْكِتَابَ الَّذِينَ اصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ سورة فاطر آية 32 قَالَ : هَؤُلَاءِ كُلُّهُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَكُلُّهُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ " ، قَالَ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ حَسَنٌ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
´Narrated Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri:` from the Prophet (ﷺ), that he said about this Ayah: 'Then We gave the Book the as inheritance to such of Our worshipers whom We chose. Then of them are some who wrong themselves, and of them are some who follow a middle course, and of them are some who are, by Allah's Leave, foremost in good deeds (35:32). He said: "All of these people are of the same rank, and all of them are in Paradise."
