´Abdullah bin Amr narrated that:` The Messenger of Allah said: "The most virtuous fast is the fast of my brother Dawud. He would fast a day, and not fast (the next) day. He would not flee at the time of engagement (with the enemy)."
Hadith 1671
'Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) seeking permission for jihad. The Prophet asked: "Are your parents alive?" He replied: "Yes." The Prophet said: "Then strive in their service."
