'Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said that he divorced his wife while she was in her menstrual period. So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), saying: "Abdullah has divorced his wife while she is in her menstrual period." (He asked about the ruling: is this divorce valid?) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Tell Abdullah to take her back (i.e., to end the divorce and take her as his wife again), then let her wait until she becomes pure from her menstruation. Then, when she menstruates again and becomes pure from that, if he wishes to divorce her, he may do so before having intercourse with her, and if he wishes to keep her, he may do so (and resume his marital life with her). This is the waiting period according to which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has commanded women to be divorced."

'Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said that he divorced his wife during her menstrual period in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). So Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about this issue. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Tell Abdullah to take her back (i.e., to revoke the divorce and make her his wife again), then keep her until she becomes pure from her menstruation, then she gets her period again, then becomes pure (when she becomes pure from her menstruation again), then if he wishes, he may keep her, and if he wishes, he may divorce her before touching her (before approaching her and having intercourse with her). This is the waiting period which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has commanded to take into consideration when divorcing a woman."

´Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said:` "I divorced my wife during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah while she was menstruating. 'Umar mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah got angry about that and said: 'Let him take her back, then keep her until she has menstruated again and become pure again. Then if he wants to divorce her when she is pure and before he touches her (has intercourse with her), then that is divorce at the prescribed time as Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has revealed.'" 'Abdullah bin 'Umar said: "So I took her back, but I still counted the divorce that I had issued to her."
