Chapter: When A Man Loves One Of His Wives More Than Another
Hadith 3396
أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَرْسَلَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَاسْتَأْذَنَتْ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ مُضْطَجِعٌ مَعِي فِي مِرْطِي ، فَأَذِنَ لَهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّ أَزْوَاجَكَ أَرْسَلْنَنِي إِلَيْكَ يَسْأَلْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ , وَأَنَا سَاكِتَةٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيْ بُنَيَّةُ , أَلَسْتِ تُحِبِّينَ مَنْ أُحِبُّ ؟ " . قَالَتْ : بَلَى . قَالَ : " فَأَحِبِّي هَذِهِ " . فَقَامَتْ فَاطِمَةُ حِينَ سَمِعَتْ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَرَجَعَتْ إِلَى أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَأَخْبَرَتْهُنَّ بِالَّذِي قَالَتْ وَالَّذِي قَالَ لَهَا ، فَقُلْنَ لَهَا : مَا نَرَاكِ أَغْنَيْتِ عَنَّا مِنْ شَيْءٍ , فَارْجِعِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُولِي لَهُ : إِنَّ أَزْوَاجَكَ يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ . قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ : لَا وَاللَّهِ , لَا أُكَلِّمُهُ فِيهَا أَبَدًا . قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَأَرْسَلَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تُسَامِينِي مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَنْزِلَةِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَلَمْ أَرَ امْرَأَةً قَطُّ خَيْرًا فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ زَيْنَبَ , وَأَتْقَى لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ , وَأَصْدَقَ حَدِيثًا , وَأَوْصَلَ لِلرَّحِمِ , وَأَعْظَمَ صَدَقَةً , وَأَشَدَّ ابْتِذَالًا لِنَفْسِهَا فِي الْعَمَلِ الَّذِي تَصَدَّقُ بِهِ , وَتَقَرَّبُ بِهِ مَا عَدَا سَوْرَةً مِنْ حِدَّةٍ كَانَتْ فِيهَا تُسْرِعُ مِنْهَا الْفَيْئَةَ , فَاسْتَأْذَنَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ عَائِشَةَ فِي مِرْطِهَا عَلَى الْحَالِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ دَخَلَتْ فَاطِمَةُ عَلَيْهَا , فَأَذِنَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّ أَزْوَاجَكَ أَرْسَلْنَنِي يَسْأَلْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ , وَوَقَعَتْ بِي فَاسْتَطَالَتْ , وَأَنَا أَرْقُبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَأَرْقُبُ طَرْفَهُ هَلْ أَذِنَ لِي فِيهَا فَلَمْ تَبْرَحْ زَيْنَبُ حَتَّى عَرَفْتُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ , فَلَمَّا وَقَعْتُ بِهَا لَمْ أَنْشَبْهَا بِشَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَنْحَيْتُ عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ " .
‘Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She sought permission from him while you were lying with me under a sheet. You gave her permission. She said: O Messenger of Allah! Your wives have sent me to you; they are demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah (Aisha), and I am silent. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): O my daughter! Do you not love whom I love? She said: Why not! He said: Then love her too. When Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), she got up and returned to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and told them everything that she had said to him and what he had said to her. They all said: We do not think you have accomplished our task; go again to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and say: Your wives appeal to you for justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah. Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: No, by Allah! I will never speak to you about them again. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Now the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Zaynab bint Jahsh to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and Zaynab was the only one among the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who had a status equal to mine in the sight of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I have never seen a woman better in matters of religion, more God-fearing, more truthful in speech, more upholding of kinship, more generous in giving charity, more self-effacing in acts of charity and seeking nearness to Allah than Zaynab, except that she was quick-tempered, but her anger would quickly subside. So she sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was with Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) under the sheet just as he was when Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) had come to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave her permission. She said: O Messenger of Allah! Your wives have sent me to you because they are all demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah, and she began to speak ill of me and used harsh words. I was watching the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his gaze was upon me, as if to see whether you would permit me to respond to her. Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) was still there, and I realized that if I responded to her, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not mind. So when I spoke ill of her, I did not let her get the better of me until I surpassed her. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “She is the daughter of Abu Bakr.”
Hadith 3397
أَخْبَرَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَذَكَرَتْ نَحْوَهُ ، وَقَالَتْ : " أَرْسَلَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَيْنَبَ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَتْ ، فَأَذِنَ لَهَا فَدَخَلَتْ ، فَقَالَتْ : نَحْوَهُ " . خَالَفَهُمَا مَعْمَرٌ رَوَاهُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ .
With this chain also: Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that then she narrated in the same way, and in it she (only) says: The wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Zainab, so she sought permission, and you granted her permission. Then she continues in the same way. Muammar, on the contrary, narrated it as: from Az-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Aisha.
Hadith 3398
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ الثِّقَةُ الْمَأْمُونُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : اجْتَمَعْنَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَرْسَلْنَ فَاطِمَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْنَ لَهَا : إِنَّ نِسَاءَكَ وَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَهُوَ مَعَ عَائِشَةَ فِي مِرْطِهَا ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ : إِنَّ نِسَاءَكَ أَرْسَلْنَنِي , وَهُنَّ يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَتُحِبِّينِي ؟ " قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَأَحِبِّيهَا " . قَالَتْ : فَرَجَعَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ , فَأَخْبَرَتْهُنَّ مَا قَالَ : فَقُلْنَ لَهَا : إِنَّكِ لَمْ تَصْنَعِي شَيْئًا فَارْجِعِي إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَتْ : وَاللَّهِ , لَا أَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا أَبَدًا . وَكَانَتِ ابْنَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقًّا , فَأَرْسَلْنَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَهِيَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تُسَامِينِي مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : أَزْوَاجُكَ أَرْسَلْنَنِي , وَهُنَّ يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَتْ عَلَيَّ تَشْتِمُنِي , فَجَعَلْتُ أُرَاقِبُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْظُرُ طَرْفَهُ , هَلْ يَأْذَنُ لِي مِنْ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ مِنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : فَشَتَمَتْنِي حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ مِنْهَا ، فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُهَا , فَلَمْ أَلْبَثْ أَنْ أَفْحَمْتُهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ " ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَلَمْ أَرَ امْرَأَةً خَيْرًا , وَلَا أَكْثَرَ صَدَقَةً , وَلَا أَوْصَلَ لِلرَّحِمِ , وَأَبْذَلَ لِنَفْسِهَا فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُتَقَرَّبُ بِهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ زَيْنَبَ , مَا عَدَا سَوْرَةً مِنْ حِدَّةٍ كَانَتْ فِيهَا تُوشِكُ مِنْهَا الْفَيْئَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : هَذَا خَطَأٌ وَالصَّوَابُ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ .
‘Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gathered together and sent Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said to her: “Your wives”—and she said a word to this effect—“are demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah.” So she went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he was with Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) under her sheet. She said to him: “(O Messenger of Allah!) Your wives have sent me to you; they are demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah (Aisha).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: “Do you love me?” She replied: “Yes!” He said: “Then love her (Aisha) as well.” Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) returned to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and told them everything he had said (to her). They all said: “You have done nothing for us; go again to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” Fatimah said: “No, by Allah! I will never go to him regarding this matter again, and indeed she was the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” Then the noble wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) to him. And Zaynab was the one among the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who had a status equal to mine (Aisha’s) in his eyes. She said: “(O Messenger of Allah!) Your wives have sent me to you because they are all demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah,” and she began to speak harshly to me. I was watching the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his gaze was upon me, as if to see whether he would permit me to respond to her. Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) was still there when I realized that if I replied to her, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not mind. So (when) I spoke harshly to her (I did not let her stay for long) until I prevailed over her. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her): “She is the daughter of Abu Bakr.” Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I have never seen a woman better in religious matters, more God-fearing, more truthful in speech, more upholding of family ties, more generous in giving charity, more self-effacing in acts of charity and seeking nearness to Allah than Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), except that she had a quick temper, but her anger would quickly subside. Abu Abdur Rahman Nasa’i says: There is a mistake in this (narration); the correct version is the one that has preceded.
Hadith 3399
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مُرَّةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " فَضْلُ عَائِشَةَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ ، كَفَضْلِ الثَّرِيدِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الطَّعَامِ " .
Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The superiority of Aisha over (other) women is like the superiority of Tharid over all other foods."
Hadith 3400
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " فَضْلُ عَائِشَةَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ كَفَضْلِ الثَّرِيدِ عَلَى سَائِر الطَّعَامِ " .
Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The superiority of Aisha over other women is like the superiority of tharid over all other foods.”
Hadith 3401
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق الصَّغَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَاذَانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ، لَا تُؤْذِينِي فِي عَائِشَةَ ، فَإِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَتَانِي الْوَحْيُ فِي لِحَافِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْكُنَّ إِلَّا هِيَ " .
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Salamah! Do not harm me regarding Aisha, for by Allah! There is no woman among you besides her in whose blanket revelation has come to me."
Hadith 3402
أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ رُمَيْثَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ : " أَنَّ نِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَلَّمْنَهَا أَنْ تُكَلِّمَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا يَتَحَرَّوْنَ بِهَدَايَاهُمْ يَوْمَ عَائِشَةَ ، وَتَقُولُ لَهُ : إِنَّا نُحِبُّ الْخَيْرَ كَمَا تُحِبُّ عَائِشَةَ . فَكَلَّمَتْهُ ، فَلَمْ يُجِبْهَا , فَلَمَّا دَارَ عَلَيْهَا كَلَّمَتْهُ أَيْضًا , فَلَمْ يُجِبْهَا ، وَقُلْنَ : مَا رَدَّ عَلَيْكِ ؟ قَالَتْ : لَمْ يُجِبْنِي . قُلْنَ : لَا تَدَعِيهِ حَتَّى يَرُدَّ عَلَيْكِ أَوْ تَنْظُرِينَ مَا يَقُولُ . فَلَمَّا : دَارَ عَلَيْهَا , كَلَّمَتْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تُؤْذِينِي فِي عَائِشَةَ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَيَّ الْوَحْيُ وَأَنَا فِي لِحَافِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْكُنَّ إِلَّا فِي لِحَافِ عَائِشَةَ " . قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : هَذَانِ الْحَدِيثَانِ صَحِيحَانِ عَنْ عَبْدَةَ .
Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spoke to her, asking her to speak to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) because people would send gifts and presents on the day of ‘A’ishah’s turn, and to tell him that they too desired good just as he loved ‘A’ishah. So she spoke to him, but he did not give her any answer. When her turn came again, she spoke to him again, but he did not give her any answer. The wives asked: Did he give you any answer? She replied: He did not give any answer. They said: Do not give up until he gives you an answer. (Or they said:) Until you see what answer he gives. When her turn came again, she spoke to him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not trouble me regarding ‘A’ishah, for by Allah, revelation has not come to me when I was under the blanket of any of you except ‘A’ishah.” Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Nasa’i says: Both these hadiths narrated from ‘Abdah are authentic.
Hadith 3403
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ النَّاسُ يَتَحَرَّوْنَ بِهَدَايَاهُمْ يَوْمَ عَائِشَةَ ، يَبْتَغُونَ بِذَلِكَ مَرْضَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that people used to send gifts and presents on the day it was Aisha’s turn; in this way, they sought the happiness of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Hadith 3404
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ هُدَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، , قَالَتْ : أَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَأَنَا مَعَهُ ، فَقُمْتُ , فَأَجَفْتُ الْبَابَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ , فَلَمَّا رُفِّهَ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ لِي : " يَا عَائِشَةُ , إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ يُقْرِئُكِ السَّلَامَ " .
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that Allah Almighty sent revelation upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while I was with him. I got up and closed the door between myself and him. When the revelation ended, he said to me: "Aisha! Jibreel is conveying greetings of peace to you."
Hadith 3405
أَخْبَرَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا : " إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكِ السَّلَامَ " . قَالَتْ : وَعَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ , وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ ، تَرَى مَا لَا نَرَى .
Narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: "Jibreel is conveying greetings of peace to you." She said: «وعلیکم السلام ورحمۃ اللہ وبرکاتہ» (Aisha replied to Jibreel's greeting and said:) "You see what we do not see." 1.
Hadith 3406
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ , هَذَا جِبْرِيلُ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكِ السَّلَامَ " . مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءٌ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : هَذَا الصَّوَابُ , وَالَّذِي قَبْلَهُ خَطَأٌ .
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Aisha! This is Jibreel, he is conveying greetings of peace to you." And further, it is as mentioned above. Abu Abdur Rahman Nasa'i says: This narration is correct, the previous one is incorrect .
