Chapter: A Man Being Inclined To Favor One Of His Wives Over Another
Hadith 3394
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ امْرَأَتَانِ يَمِيلُ لِإِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى , جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَحَدُ شِقَّيْهِ مَائِلٌ " .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has two wives and inclines more towards one than the other, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with one side of his body leaning."
Hadith 3395
أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْسِمُ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَعْدِلُ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا فِعْلِي فِيمَا أَمْلِكُ , فَلَا تَلُمْنِي فِيمَا تَمْلِكُ وَلَا أَمْلِكُ " . أَرْسَلَهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ .
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) distributed among his wives, he would do so equally, then he would say: O Allah! This action of mine is within my control, so do not blame me regarding that matter which is under Your control and I have no control over it. Hammad bin Zaid narrated this hadith as mursal.
