´Mu'awiyah bin Abdullah bin Ja'far narrated that Abdullah bin 'Utbah bin Mas'ud told him that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited 'Ha- Mim Ad-Dukhan' in Maghrib.

989. Commentary:
➊ It is possible that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) recited this surah in both rak‘ahs, as in the next chapter regarding Surah Al-A‘raf, where he divided Surah Al-A‘raf between the two rak‘ahs of Maghrib. And it is also possible that he recited the entire surah in a single rak‘ah. And Allah knows best.
➋ Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has declared the mentioned narration to be weak in its chain of transmission, but he has not clarified the nature of the weakness.
