Hadith 823

´It was narrated that Al Bara said:` "When we prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) I liked to be to his right."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
823. Commentary: In Sahih Muslim and other sources, instead of the singular form, the plural form is mentioned, i.e., "We used to prefer standing on the right side."
In addition, the reason stated for this is that the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) desired that the blessed face of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would first turn towards us. (ibid.) Also, that we would become the first recipients of his greeting, because the greeting (salam) is first turned to the right side.

615. Commentary:
After the salam, it is Sunnah for the imam to turn from the posture of tashahhud and sit facing the congregation, in such a way that his face is slightly more towards those on his right side, while those on his left are also well within his view.
