´It was narrated from 'Abdullih bin 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)said:` "Whoever completes a row, may Allah be generous to him, and whoever cuts a row, may Allah cut him off."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
820. Commentary: The meaning of joining or breaking is to join or break with His mercy, and joining the row (saff) means to fill the empty space. It may happen that during the prayer someone needs to leave, so after his departure, the row should be joined together. No empty space should be left in the middle. Remember! The row is joined towards the imam. Those on the right side of the imam will move towards the left, and those on the left will move towards the right. In order to join the row, many worshippers may need to move, but any movement necessary for the correction of the row or the improvement of the prayer is required. The meaning of breaking the row is to stand leaving a gap, or if there is space in the row, to prevent someone from standing there when there is no fear of harm, or to sit idle in the middle of the row during congregational prayer.
