Hadith 5734

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ , قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ , عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ , قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُقَيْلٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ , قَالَ : " اشْرَبْ الْعَصِيرَ مَا لَمْ يُزْبِدْ " .
´It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab said:` "Drink juice so long as it does not have any foam."

Explanation & Benefits

Foam formation indicates alteration and is a sign of intoxication; therefore, if grape juice becomes so old that it begins to boil or foam, its consumption becomes haram. However, if boiling or foaming occurs due to heating over fire, then there is no harm, as this is not due to intoxication but because of the fire.
