Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, the wording of this hadith as «المسکر» is more correct compared to it being «السکر» (in the narration of Ibn Shubrumah it is «السکر», whereas in the narration of Abu ‘Awn it is «المسکر»). Like Imam Nasa’i, Imam Ahmad and others have also preferred the wording «المسکر» (see Fath al-Bari, vol. 10, p. 43).

2؎: The author’s intent is that, compared to the narration of Ibn Shubrumah, the narration of Abu ‘Awn from Ibn ‘Abbas radi Allahu anhuma is more correct in terms of chain of transmission, because the narration of Abu ‘Awn is in accordance with the narrations of other trustworthy narrators who report from Ibn ‘Abbas, that Ibn ‘Abbas was of the view that every quantity of an intoxicating drink is prohibited, even if a small amount does not cause intoxication.
