Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
If a large gourd dries out, it is cleaned from the inside. Its peel becomes very hard and it turns into something like a vessel. The people of the Age of Ignorance used to make wine in it because, due to the absence of pores, it would produce a strong intoxicant. When wine was prohibited, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also forbade the use of wine vessels, but later permitted the use of such vessels, provided that intoxication is not produced in them. The precaution is that such vessels should not be used for making nabidh (fermented drink).
