Hadith 5583

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " الْخَمْرُ مِنْ خَمْسَةٍ : مِنَ التَّمْرِ ، وَالْحِنْطَةِ ، وَالشَّعِيرِ ، وَالْعَسَلِ ، وَالْعِنَبِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said:` "Khamr is made from five things: From dates, wheat, barley, honey and grapes."

Brief Explanation
1؎ : This does not mean that intoxicant (khamr) is only the name of a drink made from these five things; rather, its application extends to everything that veils (covers) the intellect.
