Hadith 5580

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : " السَّكَرُ حَرَامٌ ، وَالرِّزْقُ الْحَسَنُ حَلَالٌ " .
´It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Jubair said:` "Strong drink is unlawful, and a 'goodly provision' (is lawful)."

The purpose of quoting the statements of various Tabi‘in is to show that, according to the Tabi‘in of Kufa, Basra, and Makkah, it is possible to produce wine from dates just as it is from grapes. And this is also the position of the majority of the scholars, hadith experts, and jurists.
