´It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Sinan Al-Muzani that he heard Abu Hurairah say:` "I heard Abu Al-Qasim [SAW] say, during his prayer: 'Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika min fitnatil-qabri, wa fitnatid-dajjali, wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamati, wa min harri jahannam (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the trial of the grave, and from the tribulation of the Dajjal, and from the trials of life and death, and from the heat of Hell.)'"
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) At the end of Hadith 5571, Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah stated that this is an error, meaning that the name of Sulayman’s father as Yasar is incorrect. Here, in the chain of narration, the name of Sulayman’s father is mentioned as Sinan. The Imam rahimahullah considers this to be correct.
(2) Abu’l-Qasim was the blessed kunyah (agnomen) of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. This was either due to his eldest son, or because he was a “Qasim” (distributor), as he distributed knowledge and wisdom, and, by Allah’s command, also distributed the spoils of war (ghanimah).
(3) Jibril, Mika’il, and Israfil are angels of great rank with Allah Ta’ala. Along with their lofty status, they possess tremendous powers. They are the chiefs among the angels. Mentioning the names of these angels in the supplication is intended to express their greatness; however, these angels are bound by the command of Allah Ta’ala and are His servants... alayhim as-salam...
