´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "A'udhu billahi min 'adhabi jahannama, wa a'udhu billahi min 'adhabil-qabri, wa a'udhu billahi min sharril-masihid-dajjali, wa a'udhu billahi min sharri fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat (I seek refuge with Allah from the torment of Hell, and I seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave, and I seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the Dajjal, and I seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the trials of life and death.)'"

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) From this blessed hadith, it is established that seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave as well as from the trials of life and death is legislated (mashru‘). The reality of the punishment of the grave is also proven by this hadith, and there is an indication towards the life of al-barzakh (intermediate life after death), even though it is beyond our perception and understanding.

(2) This blessed hadith is also a great proof of the Prophethood of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), as he informed us that in the last era, the Masih al-Dajjal will appear. Along with warning the ummah about his trial, he also taught supplications for protection from his evil and tribulation.
