´It was narrated from Abu Umamah that :` The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Whoever seizes the wealth of a Muslim unlawfully by means of his (false) oath, Allah makes the Fire required for him, Paradise unlawful for him." A man said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, even if it is something small?" He said: "Even if it is a twig of an Arak tree."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1. The purpose of the chapter is that whether the wealth is little or much, a judgment can be made regarding it, whether by a ruler or a court. The statement of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) that “even if it is a twig of the miswak tree,” if it is seized by means of a false oath, then Hell becomes obligatory and Paradise becomes forbidden for him, because he is an oppressor.
2. Taking a false oath is a major sin (kabirah).
3. “Makes the Fire obligatory” means that at least once he will certainly enter the Fire, even if he is later taken out. The meaning of Paradise being forbidden is that initial entry into Paradise is forbidden for him; otherwise, it is certain that every believer will eventually enter Paradise. Also, this is only if he does not receive forgiveness. If he is forgiven, then this punishment will not apply.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Along with the rights of Allah, fulfilling the rights of the servants (people) is also obligatory.
➋ Due to sins other than shirk (associating partners with Allah), one can also be punished with Hellfire; therefore, it is necessary to strive as much as possible to avoid these as well.
➌ The meaning of Hellfire being obligatory for sins other than shirk is that the person will definitely have to enter Hell; after undergoing punishment, he may attain salvation. And if there is a good deed greater than that sin, then due to that, salvation may also be attained. If Allah, the Exalted, wills, He may also forgive him out of His special grace. However, the punishment for major shirk (shirk akbar) and such acts of disbelief (kufr) that expel one from Islam is eternal Hellfire.
➍ Some sins appear minor outwardly, but in the sight of Allah, they are very grave; therefore, one should avoid every minor and major sin.
➎ Swearing a false oath by the name of Allah is a major sin (kabirah), and to commit this for a trivial matter is even worse.
