´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] came from a journey, and I had hung a curtain on which there were images over a niche. He took it down and said: 'The people who will be most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to match the creation of Allah.'"
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) From this hadith, it is understood that image-making is prohibited, whether it is done by hand or with a camera, etc. At times, images can also become a means of shirk (associating partners with Allah).
(2) “The severest punishment”—although “khalq Allah” (the creation of Allah) is a general term and can also be used for non-living things, here what is meant is the form of living beings, because the relevant curtain had images of living beings on it, as is mentioned in ahadith 5354 and 5355. Moreover, “soorah” (image) refers to the face, and a face is only of a living being. The explanation of the severest punishment is mentioned in the forthcoming ahadith.
