Hadith 5348

´It was narrated from Ja'far bin 'Amr bin Umayyah that his father said:` "It is as if I am looking now at the Messenger of Allah [SAW] on the Minbar, wearing a black turban, the end of which he has let hang down between his shoulders."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
The manner of tying the turban is a customary issue. Whichever way the turban is tied in a particular region will be permissible, because the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not specify any particular method for tying the turban. However, the best method is the one adopted by the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). If one ties it with the intention of following him, then, inshaAllah, there will be reward in it as well. However, it is necessary to avoid excessiveness and symbolic turbans. If Muslims and non-believers live together in a region, then the style of Muslims should be different from that of the non-believers so that distinction is maintained.
