´Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Whatever of the Izar comes below the ankles is in the Fire.'"

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
This punishment is for wearing the lower garment (tehband) below the ankles, whether or not it is done out of arrogance. Except in the case where, due to negligence, the lower garment occasionally slips below, and upon realizing it, one immediately raises it—then this warning and punishment will not apply. And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
That portion of the lower garment (tehband) will be burned along with the body in Hellfire.
And this will be the punishment for the arrogance due to which the person let that lower garment hang below the ankles.
May Allah protect us, Ameen.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
There are two scenarios regarding wearing the garment below the ankles:
One is as a habit, and the other is out of arrogance.
Both scenarios are condemned in the Shariah.
However, if there is an excuse, then there is no blame.
Without an excuse, doing so is an extremely disliked act, and each of the two has a separate punishment.

(2)
In this hadith, the first scenario is mentioned: the part of the garment that is below the ankles will be in the Fire, and it will drag the wearer as well.
The noble statement of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is:
“The lower garment of a Muslim is to the middle of the shin; there is no harm between the middle of the shin and the ankles, and whatever is below the ankles is in the Fire.”
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Al-Libas, Hadith: 4093)
In another narration it is stated:
“The sheet and the like have no right upon the ankles.”
(Sunan al-Nasa’i, Al-Zinah, Hadith: 5331)

Urdu marginal note:
“He will go into the Fire”—that is, such a person will enter the Fire, but the Fire will be limited to the relevant part only. Until the punishment is completed, he will not be able to enter Paradise.
