1؎ : In this chain of narration, there is no mention of "Ali radi Allahu anhu," whereas in most narrations, this hadith has been narrated by Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma from Ali radi Allahu anhu, as has been seen through multiple chains, and also see the next hadith. For this reason, Imam Mizzi has considered the narration of Ibn Abbas from Ali to be preserved.
Explanation & Benefits

“Red garment”: Some researchers hold the view that it is prohibited for men to wear pure red garments. If there are only red stripes, then there is no harm. Or, it is not absolute red that is intended, but rather ‘mu‘aṣfar’ and ‘muza‘far’ (garments dyed with safflower or saffron), the prohibition of which is mentioned in other ahadith. The remaining types of red are permissible. And Allah knows best. (For further details, see Hadith: 5175)

Ibn Abbas said: It is only a garment wholly made of silk which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade, but there is no harm in the ornamented border and the wrap.

Benefits and Issues: This narration is weak; therefore, the exception mentioned in its last part—that embroidery done with silk thread is permissible—is not authentically established.
