´It was narrated from Abu Musa that:` The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Allah has permitted silk and gold to the females of my Ummah, and has forbidden them to the males."
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
English Translation:
It is permissible for women to wear gold, but the use of gold and silver utensils is prohibited for both men and women because it is absolutely unnecessary, and its only purpose is pride and ostentation. Even jewelry may be used by women only for the purpose of adornment, not for pride or boasting. (For details, see ahadith: 5139 to 5146).

1906. Commentary: The objection regarding musk (kasturi) could be that musk is actually the blood of the deer, the use of which is not permissible. However, when something is naturally transformed and its original effects are completely eliminated, its ruling changes. Musk, in any respect, does not retain the characteristics of blood; therefore, its ruling will be different from that of blood. Blood itself is produced from food, but it does not take the ruling of food. Similarly, grains and vegetables are produced from soil and dung, etc., yet the ruling of their origin is not applied to them.

Explanation:
1:
Gold and silk garments are forbidden (haram) for Muslim men.
There are several reasons for this prohibition:
There is resemblance to the disbelievers and polytheists in this,
Adornment and beautification are particular characteristics of women,
These are not desirable for men,
From this aspect, both are forbidden,
The simplicity that Islam teaches is contrary to these,
Whereas, according to the statement of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), simplicity is a part of faith,
His saying is: “al-badhadhatu min al-iman” — that is, adopting a simple and unpretentious lifestyle is a part of faith,
Both of these things are lawful (halal) for women,
But being lawful does not mean that their use should be excessive,
Similarly, here the permissibility pertains only to gold jewelry,
Not to utensils made from them, because utensils made of gold (and silver) are forbidden for everyone.

Benefits and Issues:
It is recommended (mustahabb) to apply any good fragrance to the deceased.
However, if musk (kasturi) is available, it is preferable.
