´It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said:` "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] put on a ring of gold and put its stone toward his palm. Then the people started to wear rings of gold. Then the Messenger of Allah [SAW] threw away his ring and said: 'I will never wear it again,' and the people threw away their rings."

1؎ : The hadith narrated from Abdullah ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma and the subsequent hadiths do not pertain to the aforementioned chapter. It is possible that the author of the book had established a heading, but the scribes of the hadith may have inadvertently failed to record it. It is also said that the purpose of the author in mentioning all these chains narrated from Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma is to show that the narration about removing the ring when entering the toilet is not free from the suspicion of Hammam, because what is established from the generally authentic narrations is the removal of a gold ring for a certain reason, not the removal of the ring when going to the toilet. It should also be known that the hadith of Hammam is not preserved (ghayr mahfuz).
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
Apparently, this narration has no connection with the relevant chapter; therefore, either the author (rahimahullah) forgot to establish a new chapter here, or it is an indication that the previous narration (5216) is mistaken. In the original narration, the mention is of removing a gold ring, and that too not at the time of entering the toilet, but rather with the intention of not wearing it again. And Allah knows best. The same will be said regarding the forthcoming ahadith.
