´It was narrated from Abu Tha'labah Al-Khushani that :` The Prophet [SAW] saw a gold ring on his hand, and he started to smack him with a stick that he had in his hand. When the Prophet [SAW] looked away, he threw it away. He said: "I think that he hurt you or we made you lose money."

Imam al-Nasa'i rahimahullah intends to say that Nu'man ibn Rashid has narrated this hadith as a connected (mawsul) narration, whereas Yunus has narrated it as disconnected (mursal), as will be seen in the following hadith 5194. However, the connected narration reported by Nu'man ibn Rashid is not preserved, while the mursal narration of Yunus is preserved, because in narrating from al-Zuhri, Yunus is more reliable and more firmly established than Nu'man. Furthermore, the eminent Imams of hadith, such as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam Ahmad, Ibn Ma'in, Abu Hatim, al-'Uqayli, Imam Abu Dawud, and Imam al-Nasa'i rahimahullah and others among the well-known hadith scholars, have also critiqued Nu'man ibn Rashid.
